It really is useless, as there are help sections on the forums. It would be nice if a responsible admin could post stickies on the top of each forum section so as to not have new players look around for the same advice that has already been made available elsewhere. The forum style needs to be updated. Sticky-style forums help avoid the useless posts asking the same questions repeatedly by the newer players coming into the game.

Lol Wendy..

Think back to when you were new, all we had was the Game Documentation It just opened today anyway, it can be figured out and the kinks worked out, AKA keep new players off of the HELP topics older players should be posting on..was my original Idea with the concept. We'll see I suppose.

i'm flabber gasted. for all this talk of making the game fair, and blah blah blah... now we see the real colors come out.

yes, it seems a bit redundant. but who ever checks the help forum? i rarely, if ever. most the time newbish questions are put into the general forum where people actually look. now we have a shiny new forum with "beginners" as a shiny invitation to new players to look here for advise... i'm reluctant to judge it, but hopeful this is a move forward.

"i'm flabber gasted. for all this talk of making the game fair, and blah blah blah... now we see the real colors come out."

What is that even supposed to mean Josias?

Indeed we have seen the true colors come out, and I'm not talking about Laguna.

You and your bunch have some retarded hard on for LG for apparently no other reason than he is successful, influential and you can't get your filthy hands on his assets on fb. You're all despicable.

This section is useless. That is the hard truth. If you don't look on the help or no one does for that matter, who cares? There is a help section. This is redundant. Anyone could click the help section like any other section of the forum. GMs hardly answer the problems section. Why another section for help, when there already appears to be one. It may help, but I doubt it will end up doing much more than confuse new players because of the amount of information, conflicting at times. How are they to know which advice they should follow or if it is even sound.

Honestly, GMs should be answering the help and problems sections of the forum regularly and consistently. Then start by updating the docs and there would hardly be the need for a beginners or help section.

Take for example the slight inaccuracies in the weapons and war portion of the docs. Although they make time to note weapons, what they do, the ammo they use, and the ranges(which aren't entirely accurate in themselves), they fail to let new players know that air defense has to be taken down first. This is why we have so many new players enter the chatroom saying, "I just wasted 3 trillion on trying to take this c3", or, "I'm at war with this c3 for a week now, and I'm running out of money." There are a few basic widely used methods of taking c3s. Why is this not a part of the documentation? It should have been included with the update to the war engine. There are lots of common sense things people need to know but will not find out unless they find out the hard way, or in the chatroom afterward.

This will just be another section of help and/or problem section questions that will be repeated over and over, because the information becomes outdated, or will become drowned out by too many answers. New players will get lost here as they do on the rest of the forum.

Yay! First question! Ok, GameMaster sent me this message:

"The Security Council has decided on a new resolution. General Voting has now started on the following resolution:

Give 5 Trillion untied development aid to Chumlyville.

Please submit your vote on the Security Council page."

What does this mean?

Scarlet (Golden Rainbow)

Wednesday, February 16, 2011 - 01:36 am Click here to edit this post
This means that somebody asked a member of that world's Security Council for money, and the council voted and passed the issue. After this happens, all the players on that world get to vote and decide if that player should receive the money. I always vote Yes because "The Security Council has 314.69T SC$ in cash." It needs to be spent somewhere.

The "Security Council" section of links is on the second row of the top menu. If you like, you can apply for aid by messaging someone on the Security Council, but there are some circumstances that don't allow a vote for giving away the SC's money to be proposed. I'm not sure exactly what they are.

Players become members of the Security Council either by winning first place on that world or by randomly receiving membership by being active players.

"Maybe all the people accusing others of being multi's are multi's themselves?"

My response: hmmmm I tend to lean in this direction. Those who are vehemently defensive and outraged over being accused of something they are not implies guilt, otherwise they would not be so outraged or care, being confident in who they are. That is just what I learned in my Psychology 112 course last semester. :P

certain arguments can be made either way. you could say, that if said person doesn't defend themselves, its because they are guilty. so this is a case that trying to psycho analyze whoes guilty based on their response, can be twisted to mean anything you want, regardless of the actual evidence.

not to mention, why shouldn't a person be upset when accused of cheating? to say they are guilty because they defend themselves, is rather silly!!

Psycho_Honey (Little Upsilon)

How about becoming defensive over an accusation that was never made?

What you did can be likened to a cheating partner caught with telephone numbers in his pockets, who goes onto deflect his own guilt and gets defensive and upset about his partner rifling through his pants.

Bought the shares with what?

If you bought the shares with your country's investment fund, you wont control the corp. IFs never control corps regardless of share percent ownership. If that is not the case and you bought with a CEO then either you are missing something or there is a problem. Post here with corp/country details if you want to have a player (me) have a look.

Crafty (Fearless Blue)

No worries. Owning shares with your IF is a good thing if the corp runs at a profit. Your country's fund will get 34% of the corps profit. I'm not an expert on IFs but I believe a higher fund dividend makes your people wealthier and they contribute more to country expenses. Does you a favour ;)
Find someone who knows the workings of IFs better than I if you want to learn more about them.

easiest way to figure the bottom line value of your IFs. Take the interest pay out, divide that by half, and thats the amount that makes it into your pocket. most of that is via income tax, but a little bit will will also come through the pop contributions to ed and health

Newbie Question:
If I dismantle all military units in my secured country, can I then zero my offensive and defensive forces in next year's budget? And use that money elsewhere? Assuming I have no military corporations in my country, what negative effects can I expect if I do this?

Crafty (Fearless Blue)

Friday, April 8, 2011 - 09:30 pm Click here to edit this post
Your actual budget setting thing doesnt seem to do much (unless anyone can say better), but yes, for sure, in a secured main country dismantle and/or sell off as much military as you can, you will save loads of money. Military is the most expensive thing, dont have ANY in your main, not needed.
The only exception to this is: when you are making a bit of cash and ready to take on another country (slave) then you will want to get enough offensive weapons to take a C3. Get your economy going first though would be my advice.

(NB for any other new players reading, this DOESNT necessarily hold true for Fearless Blue because there are no secured mains)

Many thanks, Crafty!

May I ask another question?

What are the realistic chances of an unprovoked attack on an unsecured satellite? Do I really have to keep a 50+ unit standing army? Can I dismantle and then rebuild when a threat arises? Or is that just too much wishful thinking?

I'd like to concentrate on my satellite's econ, and lowering defense costs would really help the situation.

I have a question: Seems how Private Corporations are so much more profitable than State Corporations, should i even try to build State Corporations or just wait for enterprises to come to my country, which has a tax rate of 0%.

Crafty (Little Upsilon)

Monday, April 11, 2011 - 07:01 pm Click here to edit this post
@gamerno1 - This very much depends on how many garrisons and units you have active that need supplying. Start with 5 say, maybe 10. then after a while check all your units are being supplied, if some are short of supplies build another 5 supply units and so on.
*Pro Tip* - Most players use small supply units comprised of just 125 jeeps, very cheap and its not often that your supply units will get attacked (but that doesn't mean they can't/wont be).

@Mulljohn, it is not correct to say that CEO corps are more profitable. You can make more with state if manipulated right and you have the control over them. A favoured strategy that seems to be used to most advantage is to build state corps and then IPO them to make them public having your own CEO buy 51% of shares. There are even better IPOing strategies but they are more advanced and complicated. If you can successfully do what I just suggested then start trying different ways of splitting up the shares. If you dont have a CEO yet yes get CEOs in (0% tax is great) but also building state corps with 'profit transfer' of 75 -80% will work quite well if you cant get CEOs quick enough. Better to have people employed making very little than unemployed taking welfare...

Lord Eddie,

Not sure if you are still around, but it isn't wise in this sort of game to come in and attack long time, seasoned players. You would be wise to not attack them and to learn from them.

Regarding the forum, there IS a lot of bickering that goes on, but there is alot of help to be gained from the forum. The so called bickering is stemmed from game politics and nothing more or a frustration that a player may have. There are a lot of helpful tips and guides to help you on the forum, some fun threads, something to interest everyone. Don't take everything you read too serious. At the end of the day, bickering or no amongst ourselves, for the most part we all get along. lol

Lorelei,

yes im still around i just dont check the threads very often due to its monotnous regularity for the same conversation. As far as attacking the " seasoned " players i think you might find i mearly pointed out that there were common threads set aside for bickering and insults and that there are those set aside for new players to learn from. If anyone was indeed offended by this statement i would suggest that it was due to their own self judgement of their comments not as a result of mine.
All i was suggesting is maybe an attempt from the seasoned vets to help the newbs out a bit and keep the bickering out of so called " advise " threads... :p

One way to help your country with your enterprise is to move corps to your country from your enterprise. Every private corp pays 40% of their turnover to the country every month (this is called country resources used in the game)which can be a lot of bucks. You are allowed 12 of your own enterprise's corps in your country. Another way to help your country by using the enterprise is by building corps that make things your country uses and contract them out to your country. Doesn't really make any money for the country, but it keeps the money "in the family" instead of paying to strangers. Your enterprise can also build/buy corps that your country can't due to level restrictions.

Make sure you have the workers in country before you move mass quantities of your enterprise corps in!

Ok, I am learning little by little.
I am now running into problems from my "learning." I have 26 corporations with nearly no employees, I have no army and no money to buy resources and weapons. Is there a way to reset my account to start over so I can build it properly?

Go to the homepage, then Register > Cancel Countries
Then you can start over somewhere else (free too)
