Do we need to buy production plants now to enable building more corps? or will the country buy them anyway.

A HHP corp list batteries as one of it supplies, yet it shows 0 monthly use and didn't buy any on start up ? (batteries not included ;) )

Can someone clarify the consumption index please. Is this dependent on the quality of just what the population buys or on the quality of all stuff the country buys. Things like electricity and gas don't really have a quality, and what about services/maintenance.

Thanks peeps, no doubt I'll be pestering you all again.

Those are a lot of questions. Lets see:

1. A country will buy them automaticly
2. Don't worry to much about it. Batteries are a new product and is slowly released into the worlds. They do this in fases so that there won't be an economic crisis. In due time they will start using them.
3. Those are 3 questions in 1.

3.1 the consumption index is an indicator that shows how much stuff your people use. A more wealthy country will use more stuf then a poorer country.

3.2 electricity/services/gas etc etc also have a quality indicator like every other product. It might be good to read the manual for advice about the 'quality' factor. There is a lot more depth to it then you think.
A few general tips:
- corps that use higher quality suplies produce better products
- higher quality suplies don't translate 1on1 to more wealthfare for populations but do increase it
- higher quality goods are more expensive
- when looking at your suplies it always takes the average quality of your suplies

3.3 corps generally speaking need higher quality products to produce better products but countries can get away with much lower quality goods.

I hope this helps a bit. I don't post often but if you have some more questions feel free to ask them.

Ok, thanks for 1 and 2.

Question 3 was more about the quality of stuff that the country buys and sells to the population, ignoring the corps supplies.

I was thinking the consumption index was an indicator of the quality of these goods (not the amount) but am unsure whether the index is calculated from the quality of goods that the population uses (ie the stuff the govt buys and sells to the pop) or the stuff the govt buys itself (weapons ammo hosps etc) or a combination of both.

At present I have my buying strategy to purchase higher Q stuff of the sort the pop buys (food, luxury goods and things) and 120Q for all the other stuff. Its just a secure main so not worried about buying high Q weapons/ammo yet. But if the consumption index is just a marker of AMOUNT of goods bought then I am barking up the wrong tree.

I am seeing the consumption index rise with this strategy but maybe that's just because some goods are being bought higher Q and I could do better if all were to be higher.

Thanks for answering Letsie.

Bump.

Is this a matter that no one is clear on ? I don't like to re-post on the help forum as I presumed it was a newbie question.

The consumption index is rather complecated. I don't know all the factors but here are the ones i can confirm that influence it.

- the average Q of goods bought
- the wealth of your population (if you run a low salary economie with lots of low tech corps or have low salaries the people will have less to spend)
- the number of people in your country, 2 the number does not mean 2 the amount of goods needed

the number of people in your country

the wealth of your population

Anyone know the relation of the second to the first, so I can figure out per capita usage? (for future usage, so I can grow stocks on hand with future planed population growth.)

Many thanks.

Letsie nailed it . As long as this Index seems reasonable I can't see much importance in it. Either give your people good stuff or not. My folks eat well, drink well, and crash-up well built cars.

So what was the frigging point in introducing it ?

At higher end, it does help with the welfare index. I got sidetracked irl, so I'm struggling to get back up to 130 in my countries. I'll revisit this topic then, hopefully with something of merit to add to the discussion.
