Belligerent King Czar has ordered yet another unprovoked attack, this time on La Republica del Midbara. His forces crossed the border early yesterday morning under cover of arterial barrages and air strikes. Fighting has been raging day and night but seems to have ground to a halt outside the capital. Reporters inside the capital tell of a tale of death and destruction. One citizen told us:
"They came from no where. We heard the air raid siren, followed by the sound of jet planes overhead. Then explosions could be heard in the distance; coming closer and closer. We couldn't believe it, we didn't know what to do"
Thousands are feared dead in the capital as well as in other cities. Yuccavalley is one town which has been completely destroyed in the wake of Czar's forces. The Midbaran response has been unrestrained. There are reports of heavy losses on both sides. The Midbaran government issued a statement earlier today:
"We will not accept this cowardly attack on our sovereignty. We watched our southern neighbours get brutalised by this animal, he will not do the same to us. Our forces are responding in full and we are laying waste to their tanks and jets. We urge all citizens to stay indoors and not to try to leave, as you will be vulnerable to cowardly attacks on the roads"
It is difficult at this point to discern the balance of power. Czar's troops seem to have controlled the streets throughout the country, until he ordered them to pull back and regroup a few hours ago. Now it seems fighting has ground to a halt, with neither side able to gain the momentum.
King Czar has not yet issued a statement about the current situation. |

"Our forces control over 90% of the country. Major divisions pulled back on resupply mission. My government assures me that we are in a good position to completely conquer the Midbaran Republic. Any other conclusion is mere propaganda motivated by a hatred of Kingdom.

As the dust settles we are able to count the casualties of this bloody war.
Kingdom: Civilian 0, Military 47,000
Midbara: Civilian 11,081, Military 253
The president of Midbara is already claiming victory: "We have chased the dogs out of our country. None remain on any of our streets. They have suffered a crushing blow at the hands of our superior forces. We will not stop here, we will take punitive measures against the aggressors to ensure this does not happen again".
Prime Minister Mahmood of Hurriya issued the following statement: "We condemn in the strongest possible terms, this unprovoked and despicable attack on a sovereign nation and its people. Czar is a source of great instability in the region and as such his days are numbered. My sympathy goes out to the suffering people of Midbara. As your neighbours we stand by you, and will give you the material support you need".
