Anyone have any info on this guy? Several of his (weak) slaves have declared war on my main, and judging by their army sizes they will only be pest, but potentially expensive pests.

He's a vet, I reckon. What have you done to piss him off? :P

Don't underestimate the strength of several (weak) slaves, it could be far more dangerous than you could have imagine.

But anyway, you're much vet then I am, so... good luck with the war. :D

Nothing, other than collecting money for gold coins I reckon. Not that it matters. I am not particularly concerned about his slaves...they all look to be recent aqqusitions.

I'm not so worried about losing my countries, or even my money, but the cost to domestic factories in terms of destruction and/or population base might be very annoying. I am not entirely sure why he attacked me, as we have not had any contact before now (and as far as I can see he is using recently conquered slaves with little to no infastructure and therefore little to damage or lose).

Frankly, if he is bored, there are plenty of players who are far less interested in the game he can get rid of than me.

This is the war world. Does anyone really need a reason to attack other players? Use war protection if you dont want a country to be attacked...otherwise you have to expect the worse! Protection in numbers...get yourself into a large fed if you are not in one already.

Given what is going on on GR no reason is even needed for war.

I am not debating that Golden Horde, more concerned with the fact that is that I am still developing my countries, and am still relatively small, compared to this attack, and in all frankness, is eliminating a player still trying to build up his country a worthwhile endeavor?

If it makes the attacker a profit..... Attacking developed countries is mad! It is far too costly!

Hmm, well if you're going to fold after the first setback then Fearless is perhaps not the game-world for you. No need to leave though, just set up on another world, all the others have "secured mode" I believe, so you can do more building and less warring, if that is your preference.

If you change your mind about leaving FB, send me an in-game message, I'm sure we can make an arrangement.

I wouldn't leave except for that you took my main sir. If you were interested in having fun I had 4 slaves to toy with, but most of my work was put into that main. FB is a war world, I understand that, but just like in any PvP server, if I was a low level being shanked by a high level, and it cost me all my shit, would I continue to play after 3 or 4 months of work is gone?

Answer: No.

I sympathize with you Michael. But the main problem that I see from here is that: you are not part of any federation (except for the one that you create yourself).

In other words, you play solo.

And solo players are the most tempting targets in FB. At least, I think, I understand one of the reasons why Danneh targeted you.

I'm not saying that playing solo is bad, or everyone should belong to a fed - but unless you are really-really strong (like lasher perhaps) then it's a risk to play solo. That's what a vet told me in the game before.

dont quit,stay and learn.

If this didnt happen, something else would have later.

This sure didnt seem to last very long.

Defenses?buy alittle every month and deactivate. After 7 months you could of been a real pain in the ass to take out.

Did you ask anyone for help?(who knew what they were doing).

This thread made you look weak,if you put his name in keyword search you would have known all you needed to know.

Nukes?with 4 slaves and your main ,you could have hit him five times boom boom boom, even if he had nuclear defense, that would send a message.

Nukes can also be used for barter.

dont quit though, like I said if it wasnt this it would be something else.

Im no expert but ive been nuked 3-4 times, nuked then had major earthquake, sneak attacked, had corps bid on,and declared on and thats how I learned.

Dont quit ,ask for help .

You simply can't leave the whole game, because you were defeated. Specially, when the war was sparked by assets and not by values.

Regarding help and federations... Wrong! Wrong! Wrong!

There are so many lovely and subtle features regarding federations.

It is best to play alone, for you are responsible for your own actions. In a federation, you have to share that same responsibility, among other things.

In other words, if one of you screws up, you'll have to pay the price. And seeing as you are more than one, the probabilities of you, the collective, screwing up are great than if you played alone, meaning there are more chances of you, the individual, getting dragged to a war.

That doesn't not always happen though. I, for instance, fight most of my wars on a individual basis, but I do drop my axe on entire collectives at times. But if I and many others fight our wars on a individual basis, there is no need for federations.

And, in my experience, these past few years, federations are more useful to get your arse dragged in to a war, than saving you from one.

Just don't get yourself eluded and believe that a federation, any federation, can save your behind when someone is out to get you. It will only make things worse, far worse.

Again, John R came out with a great opinion of his that I wholeheartedly agree, to some extent.

To be honest, what he says is true, and it had happen before. However, you as the player decide whether you want that to happen, or you want it to be of something else.

In simple words, even if you're in a fed, it's not like everything is out of control. Fed is about people connecting with each other, and that people includes you.

So to be in a fed means to be part of the collective decision making... unless you prefer to be a sleeping partner. So, the responsibility is greater with numbers, but the strength is greater too.

Now, if you find yourself voiceless in a fed and that fed tends to bring more harm than good to you... why are you still in there? You have the right to choose your friends, and so does the people you want to be in fed with. :)

Okay, as not to be sidetracked, in your case Michael, why did I think that being solo might be the reason of the invasion?
1) You're a new player
2) You don't have that many slave compared to Danneh
3) Your military points might be lower than Danneh in the first place

Vets have the advantage of being here long enough to build up their strength and experience. Newbies, with the exception of few, lack both. Fed is a shortcut way to attain strength (at least in number) and may help you with experience. BUT, choosing the right fed and the right friends are important.

Anyway, that's just my opinion - a newbie in this game as well. I'm still learning, and I must say that I learned something from this event as well.

I agree with both of you,,pros and cons to each. You can build your country faster in a fed, however there is a responsability to the whole as well. You might try finding a small fed that believes in what you do and go from there. hope you stay in the game!

Don't quit when 3 months of effort is wiped out? Sorry, but this game isn't fun enough for me to waste me effort for another 3 months to do that. I'm not a glutton for punishment thanks. There's a reason I built my countries where I did: namely, to be left alone until I felt I was ready to actually join the game on a meaninful level (and with half a dozen countries that were all relatively weak, I wasn't ready for that).

Again, I suggest that while this may be FB, there is also a level of conduct associated with being sporting that I felt most players had. For an analogy, how correct would it be for a character in a PvP server on any other game to sit around and shank players 20 levels below him? Certainly, he can do it, but is it fun? Is it fair? And more importantly, when that player gets annoyed and leaves after losing everything, is it good for the game? The answer is no to all of these.

Meh Turner is a n00b just a slightly older n00b than you. This is a playground. He took the ball away from you and pushed you down. Stand up, dust yourself off, and beat him to death with a bat...or something. I forget the finer details of playground ettiquite.

Anyway..When you stop crying contact me at Tejas Vengance Stash FB my CEO. I can give you the bat and the directions on its proper use.

Whoa, the god of war has spokenth. So you see Michael, when it comes to war no talk will bring security - you must fight back, if not strength then through strategy.

And there's a lot of other players that you can work together with. Ask around and be friendly. Just building your country yourself and hoping for the best - this is not a single-player game. This is the internet (cue "this is Sparta" shout).

It's all about networking. Heh.

As I said, I was waiting till i felt myself relevant enough to do so. Danneh felt I was relevant enough to waste 3 months of my time. Another active player bites the dust. Instead of lecturing me about how much a n00b or whiner I am, perhaps take account of the truths of my statement. Ultimately the game is made up of players; you are correct Vaan, this is a multiplayer game. Yet, what does it speak to the quality of those players, or the meaningfulness of that interaction if there if it is merely a playground as God of War suggested. I left my desire to be pushed around on the playground long ago, and my patience for wasted money and time as well.

Oh come now, every second spent on this game is wasted because at the end of the day, W3C can turn off the servers at the flick of a switch. I personally have not wasted any of your time.

As for active players biting the dust; I may have built you a coffin, but you yourself appear keen to jump in and close the lid. You are not out of the game unless you choose to be. The fact that you're still posting on the boards 5 days after you told us you quit suggests that you don't really want to leave just yet.

I sincerely hope you stay with simcountry, that you can take this as a learning experience and use the knowledge to make sure you are better prepared in the future. If you wish to build up on FB again, I'll happily shelter you within a federation for a while, just drop me a line in-game. Also consider the secured-mode option of the other worlds, very handy for a "dont hit me until I'm ready" philosophy.

As a note to the concept of bashing a player "20 levels lower" - this conflict was conducted between 4 countries on my side (total pop under 40 mil) and 5 on the mysteria side (total pop over 80 mil). Not exactly a "Dark Lord wielding the staff of Doom vs Small Hobbit wielding a tiny dagger" scenario.

You should stay. You have been noticed now and will find it much easier to find friends to help rebuild. I have restarted before and knowing what you know now you will find building your new country much much easier! I am fairly new to this game but reached the top 10 fairly quickly. You can do it to with the right help.

i've played games like this for quite a few years

i had an experience in one of them, when i started, i of course was defeated, and i felt as you did, that their should be a "code of conduct,"

i sent the player that defeated me a pretty nasty message to that effect, and he actually sent me back a very polite message, stating that it is a game, and a war game at that...

about a year later, i was getting nasty messages from players, about a "code of conduct," and i sent back polite messages about it being a game, and a war game at that...

btw, i did appologize to that player for the nasty message...

3 months truely is a good chunk of your life, but this game takes years to master, a little patience would do you well

also, their are more peacefull worlds...

You'll find Danneh an upstanding player, If you are going to quit the game then so be it but youll find that staying with it and rebuilding is much more satisfying.
