GM-announced deflation: my COSTS sure aren't declining! (Little Upsilon)

Recently the Game Gods have announced that they intend to deflate game money, and reduce the amount of game cash in the worlds. Both income and cost would decline, in such a scenario.

Instead, my income has declined, while my costs have NOT--especially in my main nation, which has not increased the size of the army in several real months, has not made education investments in at least a real month, has not bought transport infrastructure in at least a real month, and has bought very few hospitals as population and HI have leveled off.

Yeah, my income is declining, alright. My costs, however, are CONSTANT. (I recognize that they'll go up in my slaves due to military, but this should NOT be happening in my main.)

My monthly cost in Evil Woody Thoughts 0 CEO tax is the same ~265B per game month that it was before the 23 December game announcement. Despite the announced intention of deflation, my costs have not declined AT ALL in spite of me not doing anything that would increase expenditures this drastically.

In the same time, my income has declined by 100B+/game month, which would not be that big of a deal if the costs were declining in similar proportion.

Instead my financial index has fallen more than 25 points since the 23 December announcement, and continues to fall. The economy in my main has not altered in any substantial fashion since then--as far as I can tell, the changes are solely due to GM tinkering with numbers and base prices in order to achieve the intended deflation. Nominal value for my main has also declined by about $30 in lost profit capacity value.

I urge Tom to reduce costs faster, instead of reducing only corporate income but leaving the costs of government relatively constant...they should both decline in rough balance. They have not.

I to am suffering from reduced income but static costs. a 1.5 trillion drop in income compared to a steady cost.

Corporations are the same way, their costs are NOT declining as fast as the prices of their products are.

Case in point, product prices recently dropped another 1.5 to 2.5%.

Salaries only dropped 1%.

This means even less profit than before.

Ugh. Another hit to my FI, then.

I guess I can give up going for level 6 then. What's the point, if I'm going to have to spend that 300 GC on pop just to support enough corps to raise my FI then? It'd be one thing if it was the military buildup dragging it down, but I haven't added a single MIB to my main since the announcement and the FI has still dropped by mega-points.

FI below 70 now and still falling.

Level 3 should have been fairly simple. Getting more difficult by the day now

Same here. My hope of getting to level 7 is slipping further and further away. 6 months ago I was almost there ... only DI to work on. My countries have all improved since then, but my FI is still falling long term. With the recent army personnel and cost adjustments and the corporation employment adjustments, I now have to work on FI, employment and DI.

I don't have time to log on twice a day and spend an hour or more demoting workers and trying to think up new strategies to increase FI. My corps are running at near maximum productivity, efficiency and trade strategies. Apart from my war slave, all my countries are geared towards defence to maximise DI with minumum cost. I'm running out of ways to improve profit and still the FI is declining.

Needless to say, I have given up on my enterprises, except to support my countries.

I am beginning to suspect that this game now has a playing life of no more than a year. Unfortunately, I have been playing more than two :(

TOM, JOZI, LAGUNA, ANYONE ...WE NEED AN FI ALGORITHM ADJUSTMENT TO MAKE THE HIGHER LEVELS WORTH PLAYING!!!!!!

Hugs and respect

Jo

That, or actually reduce the costs in same proportion as income is getting reduced?

The FI is a ratio...applying deflation to costs and income equally would restore the old balance and allow FI to recover.

I am trying not to interpret this in a paranoid manner... :)

I'm not having problems maintaining level 7 FI or DI. I would suggest Keith and Jo take a look at my empire on Golden Rainbow. All of my countries are above 130 FI (empire average currently is 153). As an empire, I'm at 413 average DI. Employment is 95% empire-wide.

I'm being very sincere about this, as I would like to see more players reach Levels 6 and 7.

And before anyone says "well, you have all MIB's", that's totally not true. I have phased out my excessive MIB's in my 4 slaves, and have proper defense in all of them. So Level 6 and 7 is doable even with proper defenses. My main is only about 27% of my total empire defense index (mib's).

If either or anyone else trying to achieve these goals, wishes to contact me for further information, please feel free to PM me, as I don't want my full country stats public.

1) I am not on GR, and I do not wish to spend the GC to look...

2) I have a proper defense, not just MIBs.

3) I am still above the required 120 FI, but the point is that I lost a huge amount of FI from declining income even in my main, which was NOT doing anything to increase government spending. I had expected FI to drop in my slaves, as they were at the time building military. While FI is stabilizing in most of my countries, obtaining level 6 just became about 30 FI points more difficult.

Q, you already have my MSN :)

Keith, you don't have to spend GC to look, you can browse any world. :)

The MIB comment was to those who think that I'm still all MIB's from when I actually did reach Level 7 that way.

I'm on MSN now.

I think I've figured out WHY income has gone down so much. I'm waiting to confer with LG and T to make sure I'm correct with my figuring of things. I think there could be a major bug with corporation income.
