As we published in the game news recently, there are several small changes that will solve this problem. The short term change was an increase from 24.000 to 30.000 in the minimum number of unemployed HLWs.

The percentage of HLW in the lower age groups is also increased but it will take a couple of game years before this change will start making a difference.

The main reason for the "disappearing" HLWs is the upgrading of corporations. Each Efficiency upgrade reduces the number of low level and mid level workers and increases the numbers of HLWs and other high level professionals in corporations. The total number of workers declines with each upgrade.
One upgrade could require 30 to 40 more HLWs and if this is done in 100 corporations, 4.000 HLWs are needed. There could be 50.000 low level and mid level workers becoming available.

By reducing the numbers, we are reducing the numbers of HLWs that "disappear". We are also reducing the numbers of lower level workers becoming available.
This process will continue until the HLWs problem is solved, or largely solved.

We would like to keep some of the advantage of efficiency upgrades but you can't eat the cake and have it.

I for one am very pleased with the worker fixes. It has allowed me to achieve a 99.7% hiring index in my CEO which meant alot of countries have or are seeing their numbers increase. My main is now at about 100% hiring in all my state run or state public corps. I can now build new corporations without fear of further complications with hiring. Thx

Tom,
i for one am appreciative of W3C finally addressing some very important issues that players are facing. it appears that the fixes currently under way will make the game more player friendly. most of us realize that, as in the real world change is inevitable, and we have to adjust. but when it appears that there is no way for us to adjust to a situation, and it appears that we are being stonewalled (whether true or not)it can make people really angry. i hope these changes will improve the game and that W3C will continue to address our concerns in a prompt and professional manner.

My worker problems appear to be completely fixed. I had some tweaking to do around managers but I expect this. This past week, I was no longer logging into every country several times a day to convert workers. Thanks for the fix!

Tom, I would recommend putting a halt to the increasing in workers of the corporations. I think the changes W3C has made in the last week have been just right. Many players who don't post here feel the same way, or close to it.

So I would stop increasing the LLW in corporations for now, and see how this plays out. Its been great for me the way it is now, even with a 100 Million population country.

Thank you for listening.

Finally...after many months of despairing about logging in, I can finally log in and not face some brainless, absurd HLW shortage. While I'm very pleased that it seems to have been fixed, I still wish the number of conversions was 50000 and not 30000. I guess for me, 30000 is to close to that failure 24000 figure of old.

I think the new problem is the uselessness of LLW now. HLW's have improved by transferring more workers into them and many corporations are now using more MLW and HLW, but I have seen a sharp decline in the usefulness of LLW...they seem to be almost growing, while MLW and HLW are shrinking into the workforce.

Tom / GM...please fix this. We need better control over the workers! Give us Trade Schools or have Educational Priorities affect MLW and HLW. Education of professionals should draw from LLW...do they consume any?

Trade schools could be a separate schooling system, like Boces in the US, and allow us to set a percentage or flat rate number of people we would like to see move up the ranks LLW to MLW to HLW...RL world talking here! Give us control of our workers!

Zeba-- build construction, steel and a couple of other types that use a lot of llw's. they're not a problem. you can definitely work around them. actually, in some of my countries i've got a shortage. go into the labor market and exchange them with someone else.
