Ok so i have been pretty inactive for a while and not maintaining my countries much but over the past 2 months i have lost 10m of my population, down from 106M to 96M, my population in dropping by around 30k per game month. I have a Health Index of 199 so they cant be dying from poor health! Any ideas what is going on?

Regards, Tendo Ryu

It doesn't matter how good your health index is, you'll never be able to maintain pop at that level.

How did you get so much population?

I've found that the higher the HI, the more pop you lose. I found that weird, and I may be wrong, but I'm not the only one who has seen this happen.
I've taken over new countries, left the HI where it was, while building the country up, and had a steady gain of population every month. The second I raise the HI above 100, I start losing pop every month.

You start losing pop once you get higher population levels. I believe it kicks in somewhere around 70M. 100M would certainly do it.

The health index will extend the life of your citizens. No amount of hospitals will make them immortal. All of them will die. Simcountry and the real world are similar in that respect.

A high population in simcountry lowers the birth rate. Even if you had enough people of breeding age the breeding rate is still low. If you have a high health index for a long time you end up with lots of elderly simpeople who do not breed at all.

If you start with a typical country of 6 million and buy 94 million simpeople you might not notice any effect on birth rates for about 35 to 40 game years. Most players take a long time to reach 100 million.

Well, I got a country of 21M I have been trying to grow organically, and I estimate I'll hit negative pop growth in 9 game years, I'll be lucky to hit 25M by then. Anyone able to explain that? What factors actually affect birth rate besides high population levels?

Relevant indices:
Health 120
Ed 180
Welfare/SS over 100

yes. i recently purchased population as well and have noticed a steady decline in population, and will be forced to downsize to 85m because i am being scammed for $$ for anything i purchase above that.

(its w3c way to steal your money if you havent noticed. everything about this game is to scam people. luckily for them, im not really in any particular mood to care all that much, but the rest of you probably should care...) ^___^ \/..

slare: you indices look fine. youll have game growth up until at least 70m people..if you stick around for the next 5RL years waiting for that to happen. lmao).

Yes. SC does like to scam but, I don't pay for any of my coins.(unless your talking about sc$) So I'm OK with bidding on pop on a weekly basis.

Especially when I can make about 2T$ a day in one 120M pop country alone.:)
