Dam. I tell you what, if I was Jesus I'd be nailing myself to the cross.
I mean, thats some fucked up shit. Being born God but being just a man. Having people question you every day about being God, but knowing that your just a man. I tell you what would mess me up the most. Knowing that all those baby boys were killed when you were born just because you were born. Hell on Earth.
Yet he still tried to show us the good in ourselves, even though all he felt for us was contempt.
He fought for man till the bitter end. Maybe thats why he was/is a God amongst men? Because he did'nt turn his back on what was wrong, even though he knew it was going to kill him.

And before any of you say that he knew he was God. He did'nt. How do I know? "God? Why have you forsaken me?"

I wonder. If Jesus turned up now and with what we know about life, do you think he would be seen as a God/Devil? or would he be seen as a hero/villain?

Where does the bible say that Jesus is God? I know many places that it says Jesus is Gods son! John 14:28; Mark 13:32; Mark 1:11; these are just a few if you want more there are plenty. Although he is a God and a Lord, he is never said to be the Almighty God or Lord. Even before he died notice what he said at Luke 22:42.

Where does the bible say Jesus had contempt for humans? Prov 8:30,31; Even God loves humans. John 3:16

If Jesus turned up among us now, Why would he be viewed any differently that he was then?

I gotta say, seriously, that jesus got a pretty good deal. A demi god, preaches about stuff for a while, does some miracles. Gets nailed to a cross. Suffers for 3 days. Then gets resurrected and then gets to rule the universe as god for eternity.

Sounds like a pretty good deal! Life time of preaching, 3 excruciating days in return for ruling the universe? Sign me up now!

Who do you recon gets more. Jesus or Santa?

You still here Martock? I tell you what. You would be so surprised how many religions are waiting for Christ to return. Hindu, Islam ect ect.

Anyways, hi Serpent, I know your still around. You make a point. I thought he was the flesh of God on Earth? I'm gonna scan my bible now.
I did use the word contempt. Contempt(Collins English Dic)Deliberate disrespect for the authority of a court of law. And as the people follow the authority of a court of law, did he not also have contempt for the people?
And how was he viewed earlier?
When was the last time you went to church? I go Midnight mass. Up until 2 years ago, the churches around my area were empty. Apart from the old folk. I don't know what it's like where you are.

Maxwell. Helloa if your still around. Got a question for ya. If you knew you only had one chance to change humanity, would you do it any differently to the method jesus used? And if not, would you be happy with the consequences of your actions?

And finally Miles. To me even if that was the case. All that would happen is I would respect Jesus even more than a God. To my main man Jesus. Went through Hell on Earth to try and show us a better way of life.
Thats Gangsta(cringing as I write that)

Jesus WAS god on earth. Some religions believe there are 2 gods. The one to make earth and jesus. I believe it to be different. I believe they are both the same man. Jesus' purpose was to sacrifice himself for the sins of this world. Yes he did preach and do miracles but that wasn't his main purpose. Some churches(like mine) also think that when jesus died he WENT to hell because every ones sins and then he took away the keys from the devil and freed jewish people that were in hell. Then he arose and made his final sermons to his disciples and then left. I don't have all the verses right at this moment to give you proof but i know my pastor does. All in all many of you have made great points.

Nix, the bible does say that Jesus was the *son of God* several times. Jesus never had deliberate disrespect for the people, that's why the scriptures I quoted earlier apply. Obviously many people showed contempt for him. And except for a select few people, (and not just Jews either) people did have contempt for him, they did not believe he was who he said and proved he was. And that would no doubt be the same reaction he would get now, if he was here in the flesh.
And to answer your question about when I attended church last....I do attend 'church' 2 times a week, have done so since I was very little, and have been very regular at it. There are not many things I do know, but when it comes to the bible, I feel confident in my knowledge. Although I'm not a bible encyclopedia. :)
Also the bible does say that Jesus did in fact go to hell. In Acts 2:25-27 it says "David speaketh concerning him [Jesus Christ],.... Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption." The fact that God did not *leave* Jesus in hell implies that Jesus was in hell, or Hades, at least for a time. Which raises the question.. Does that mean Jesus was engulfed in flames and in torment from the devil? If so,what kind of God would do that? Or is that what *hell* is, is it a place of unending unimaginable torment?

I have no idea about an asteroid hitting the earth in 2036, all I can tell you is what the bible says. It says at Ge 9:8-17; Isa 54:9,10 that God would not bring to ruin the earth as he did in Noah's day. There are many other places where the bible says that the earth will not be destroyed, that 'the meek shall inherit the earth.' There are however places in the bible where it speaks of the earth being consumed, or burned with fire, but with a little bit of research, those passages can be understood to be illustrative. But as for an asteroid hitting the earth, this is news to me, or at least a big un.

Well if it didnt matter what church or what religion you professed to be, then why not everybody be Hindu, or Muslim, or even Christian? For that matter if all 'Christian' religions are the same, then why not everybody be Baptist, Methodist, or Catholic, etc..?
Obviously being an atheist it would not matter, since there is no belief in a God or higher power, one would no doubt view any 'church' as useless. But for somebody who professes a religion, not just any religion would suffice.

Sorry if you misunderstood my typing, LOL, but it can be hard to infer somebodies emotions over the inter-web.
There are many different 'sects' that claim to be Christian, it would be fairly easy to go to one that does not make you feel comfortable. Some may not like the idea of messing with snakes, like certain sects do. Others might not like the idea of confessing sins to another human, thinking that is the only way they can gain gods approval. Some sects do not like the use of technology. There are many things that might make a person not like their church. Alot of it probably depends on why you go.

I would agree that religion is responsible for the great majority of all the worlds past, present and prolly future suffering. There has been many things that has been done in the name of God that is truly horrible. Thats another reason why certain religion's are obviously not good.

the bible doesn't say what color adam and eve were. as far as races that is evolution in action. people develop to the envirment that they live in, and it is happening as we speak.
for example the average black person in africa is lactose intolerent while his desendents in america are mostly not. in addition to other features that have changed over time such as lighter skin color in american blacks. at the same time some white people in the states have grown darker. in some places almost olive skinned. I use america as an example because it is the main place where people from other Continents. that they are not native too have had enough time to show adaptations to their new envirment.

In the talmud it says that god is the color of the wind. so the question of the color of god is pointless. as far as adam and eve go they would have been dark skinned . fair skin in africa or even the middle east doesn't make sence from a evolutionary stand point.

What's with the talking? Where's the burning!?

The things you missed with your lack of Inquisition: the burnt flesh, the fetish for said burnt flesh, book-fueled bonfires, underground naughty praying, the suppression of knowledge, lack of development...

On a more slightly serious note, I don't see religion as the root of evil in the world. I don't remember the last war that was fought over the divine nature of God, God's words, the legit holy scriptures, who had the best collection of holy music and books or even who had the right calendar. But I digress.

It is my understanding religion has been used as an excuse over time to further the cause it could be manipulated to fit: that is, all of them.
When the Portuguese first began to expand their Empire, it started with two reasons: to spread the (Catholic) faith and bring in some cash... I mean pepper; we enjoy our food spicy. Furthering the catholic cause gave us some good leverage: better relations with other catholic countries, including in the newly christianized countries, a foothold of power in the new-christian countries, some trade of wine and flour for mass in return of goodies like ivory and pepper, and... ah! an excuse to wage war openly and freely on muslim territories, specially the rich, juicy ones. Common theme throughout this? Power and money (and, occasionally, food); nothing much regarding salvation.

These days we are obviously enlightened people with secular believes. We won't wage war or prosecuted people for something so immaterial as God. Oil on the other hand... Did I say oil? I meant nuclear weapons. ;0

Then again, I really do not care much besides the collateral lulz. But I gotta say, monasteries and convents made the best pastry.

/me throws a pastel de natas at all the heretics' face

With fairness and accuracy, I do have to say the causes of the Portuguese Expansion and expeditions were officially two, at the beginning:
* To spread the faith;
* Find the Kingdom of Prester John;
* And, unofficially, increase the Kingdom's revenue, obviously;
* We can later add, and officially, reaching India by sea.

It is very likely that most are unfamiliar with the legend of Prester John, so I'll explain.

Starting somewhere and somewhen in the XII or XIII century, there begun to spread a rumor across Europe regarding a powerful kingdom towards the far east, a christian kingdom! A Kingdom with a ruler by the name of Prester* John, filled with the marvels and knowledge of Antiquity and embedded with the the grace of God... yada, yada, yada, I'll let you find and read the rest.
*Prester is his title.

In relation with my post, the Portuguese Empire sought this kingdom to aid against the muslims. And probably to find some pastry as well.

I was not paid with pastry to write this post.

Hehe Jo-Jo, you are absolutely right, I did forget beer, much trouble that has brought to mine and others door. :)

I didn't classify disease, famine etc. as 'trouble', though if you look at it, much of these are the direct result of war or greed. I know you are aware enough to understand that the root causes of all my newly defined 'trouble', from the crusades to extremist fundemental Islam, were/are religiously and economically inspired. Lagunas charming tale of Portugal and Prester John is but one example of many. Who wouldn't kill for a decent cookie pastry?

Can you smell burning?

Would a religion be responsible if it advocated its adherents to engage in war? What if they bless the troops of their countries to fight and kill? What if the religion is able to convince its followers to suicide bomb? This would include the GREAT majority of religion. Thats why in some countries you have people who claim to be of the same religion or faith that kill each other, depending on which side of the border they live. It isnt something that just happened 'back in the day'. But it happens now, worldwide. Dosent it? So then is religion responsible? Of course there are other factors involved, but religion has very bloody hands.

at the risk of shutting down discussion on this thread, i'll put in my two cents worth.

1. religion is man made--it's our interpretation of our reltionship with our environment and our need to feel that we are more than mere dust.
2. people then decide that a person, usually a man, has the answer/enlightenment to our mortality and we become believers.
3. because the fear of death and the need to feel that there is something beyond oursleves, we set up rituals and dogmas to institutionalize those beliefs.
4. most ancient religions used metaphor to explain these relationships and phenominon.
5. the one common denominator between all the major religions is "compassion". compassion is what binds us together as humans and we express this through our faith traditions.

as a Christian i beleive that Jesus is the way and the truth for me. it does not mean that it is the only way. that there are numerous ways to find God. but if we live our lives as moral ciphers, without any purpose other than our animal desires, then we take a step back in the evolutionary process.

G&CM--i sense that you have been terribly hurt by the Church or people in it. i'm sorry for that. but your rage may be holding you back from finding happiness and meaning in your life. what's been done to you is not fair or just. there are many others out there that have felt the same way you do. in some cases, they've reached out to support groups (not associated with the church) to find some peace and to put their lives back together. i hope you'll take the advice of one who has found that peace. it can be liberating.

"Ten Bible verses on family values"

(Lets Have Tea) Let Show begin Ten Bible verses on family values"here goes.

Matthew 5:18 (New International Version)

18I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.

Reading the comments on my previous post, it appears that some people are in doubt as to how the Bible says one should treat their own children. One commenter "highly doubt[s] God would condone murdering a 19 month old baby for not saying AMEN" and that I should reread the Bible, praying before and after every single passage. Someone else complained about verses being taken "out of context" and a third just said that she doesn't "live by Old Testament ways," despite Jesus's firm command to the contrary.

A toddler whose remains were found inside a suitcase in Philadelphia in the spring was starved to death by members of a religious cult, including his mother, in part because he refused to say "amen" after meals, police said.

Compare with Proverbs 30:17:

The eye that mocketh at his father, and despiseth to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.

If Biblical literalists were both serious about their convictions and familiar with the contents of the document they worship, they would not be a problem for us because they would have obliterated each other in a single generation.

One of the many cultural myths with which I would like to do away is the notion that the Bible is somehow a sturdy moral foundation for our lives, particularly where families are concerned. To that end, I have compiled ten of the meatiest verses from both Hebrew and Christian Testament on the treatment of child and family. Of course, as these are the rules of an extinct ancient theocracy and not a modern society, they are appropriately barbaric. They are so over-the-top crazy that no sane person should assent to them, and I sincerely doubt any "Biblical literalists" are so evil as to obey them, if they are even aware of them:

1. God deems it good to punish Babylon by
10. God deems it good to punish Babylon by smashing her infant children to bits on the street, so right off the rod we know that the slaughter of children cannot be a priori an evil thing in Biblical morality. (Isaiah 13:16; note that this is an edit from before, see comments)

Isaiah 13 (New International Version)

Isaiah 13
A Prophecy Against Babylon
1 An oracle concerning Babylon that Isaiah son of Amoz saw:

2 Raise a banner on a bare hilltop,
shout to them;
beckon to them
to enter the gates of the nobles.

3 I have commanded my holy ones;
I have summoned my warriors to carry out my wrath
those who rejoice in my triumph.

4 Listen, a noise on the mountains,
like that of a great multitude!
Listen, an uproar among the kingdoms,
like nations massing together!
The LORD Almighty is mustering
an army for war.

5 They come from faraway lands,
from the ends of the heavens
the LORD and the weapons of his wrath
to destroy the whole country.

6 Wail, for the day of the LORD is near;
it will come like destruction from the Almighty. [a]

7 Because of this, all hands will go limp,
every man's heart will melt.

8 Terror will seize them,
pain and anguish will grip them;
they will writhe like a woman in labor.
They will look aghast at each other,
their faces aflame.

9 See, the day of the LORD is coming
a cruel day, with wrath and fierce anger
to make the land desolate
and destroy the sinners within it.

10 The stars of heaven and their constellations
will not show their light.
The rising sun will be darkened
and the moon will not give its light.

11 I will punish the world for its evil,
the wicked for their sins.
I will put an end to the arrogance of the haughty
and will humble the pride of the ruthless.

12 I will make man scarcer than pure gold,
more rare than the gold of Ophir.

13 Therefore I will make the heavens tremble;
and the earth will shake from its place
at the wrath of the LORD Almighty,
in the day of his burning anger.

14 Like a hunted gazelle,
like sheep without a shepherd,
each will return to his own people,
each will flee to his native land.

15 Whoever is captured will be thrust through;
all who are caught will fall by the sword.

16 Their infants will be dashed to pieces before their eyes;
their houses will be looted and their wives ravished.

17 See, I will stir up against them the Medes,
who do not care for silver
and have no delight in gold.

18 Their bows will strike down the young men;
they will have no mercy on infants
nor will they look with compassion on children.

19 Babylon, the jewel of kingdoms,
the glory of the Babylonians' [b] pride,
will be overthrown by God
like Sodom and Gomorrah.

20 She will never be inhabited
or lived in through all generations;
no Arab will pitch his tent there,
no shepherd will rest his flocks there.

21 But desert creatures will lie there,
jackals will fill her houses;
there the owls will dwell,
and there the wild goats will leap about.

22 Hyenas will howl in her strongholds,
jackals in her luxurious palaces.
Her time is at hand,
and her days will not be prolonged.

Footnotes:

1. Isaiah 13:6 Hebrew Shaddai
2. Isaiah 13:19 Or Chaldeans'

9. Jesus himself will cause your family and your household to be torn apart, so now we also know that it can't be a priori an evil thing to ruin families in Biblical morality. (Luke 21:16)
8. The sexual enslavement of thousands of children (32,000, to be exact) is OK, as long as God has already told you to murder their families, so we also know that neither genocide or the sexual torture of children is a priori an evil deed in Biblical morality. (Numbers 31:17-18)
7. If you mock or disobey your parents, the birds-of-prey will devour your eyes right out of your head, so the disfigurement of your own children also cannot be a sin. (Proverbs 30:17)
6. If a ruthless dictator doesn't manumit his slaves at the request of a single random soothsayer, the morally good response is to murder the children of everyone in the nation, even if they have never even heard of Moses or his god, so for the Bible moralist it is morally good to punish people for deeds in which they took no part. (Exodus 12:29)
5. A superficial (read: literal) reading of the story of the binding of Isaac makes it clear that your moral duty to obey a pernicious command from above far outweighs any love you might have for your own offspring. In Bible ethics, then, standing up for your own bloodline is not a priori a morally good action. (Genesis 22:2-13)
4. If children make fun of your bald head, the appropriate response is to have them massacred by bears. This way, we know that in Biblical morality, punishments need no proportion to the crimes. (2nd Kings 2:23)
3. If you don't hate your mom, your dad, your siblings, your children, and yourself, Jesus is wrong for you. So in Biblical morality, a cohesive family unit is a moral aberration. (Luke 14:26)
2. If a child is disobedient and doesn't listen to his parents, have the entire town get together and execute him The Lottery-style. There is no exception made here for "19 month old babies who don't say AMEN." (Deuteronomy 21:18-21)
1. And of course the most famous father-son relationship in the Bible is God's own: God loves us so much that he would torture and murder his own son to save us from God's own wrath.

So, we have learned (1) that the murder, torture, rape, disfigurement, and ritual execution of children is morally permissible in certain cases, (2) the very existence of a loving family structure is morally impermissible, and (3) and annihilation of entire cultures is OK so long as the young children are spared to fulfill the victors' sexual lust. All this is the case, unless either God is not good, or God is not the author of the Bible.

We are very fortunate indeed, then, that virtually all so-called "Biblical literalists" are either unaware of or too morally good to follow the commands to slaughter and torture written about in the Bible. While I have a great deal to say on this question, particular on the pertinence of these arguments to the Euthyphro Dilemma, I feel the point has been made so I will let it rest for now.

Beating and Eating Children? Parenting 101: Is This Biblical Way
How are we to raise our children? Without god, we are surely lost in regards to parenting our offspring. After all, god is the source of morality and all that is good, is he not? Surely his teachings on parenting are to be followed. Where can we find his teachings on parenting? You guessed it, the bible. I will start off with the following passage, where god tells his people what to do with his rules and laws.

Deuteronomy 6: 6-9
"Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are away on a journey, when you are lying down and when you are getting up again. Tie them to your hands as a reminder, and wear them on your forehead. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates."

The part about tying god's rules to your hands and forehead brings to mind the orthodox jewish sect know as the Hasidic, whom put small sacred parchments into tiny black leather boxes known as "t'filin", and then tie them ritualistically around their arm and forehead.

The main thing to remember here is that we are instructed by the bible in many places to follow god's law. Here it is made apparent that you must also pass them down to your children, and incorporate them into every part of your life, right down to gluing a bible to your forehead or something.

This passage is further supported in the new testament in the book of ephesians.

Ephesians 6: 4
"And now a word to you fathers. Don't make your children angry by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction approved by the Lord."

So we now see in both the old and the new testaments the importance of ensuring your children know about god's laws. God's laws and commandments are to be passed down from generation to generation. These laws include instructions on parenting as well. So let us start our examination of parenting in the bible with a very well known couple, Isaac and Rebekah.

Favoritism is acceptable to god, even if such favoritism leads to family strife of gigantic proportions.

Isaac was so important to god that his birth was prophesied ( Genesis 17:16 ) and was born to a mother who was over ninety years old! God promised Abraham that his son would inherit god's kingdom and be the heir of the abramic covenant ( Genesis 19: 19, 21 ). I would put some info here about Isaac's wife, Rebekah, but the bible is strangely silent about her life before marrying. In fact, this is a common theme throughout the bible, where the women's lives don't seem to begin until they marry a man. In Genesis, Adam begets sons and daughters ( Genesis 5:4 ), but these women are nameless and just about the last women whose' births are mentioned in the bible.

Isaac barley survives his father sacrificing him to god ( Genesis 22: 1-19 ), and when Isaac's mother Sarah dies, his father buys him a wife and he is "...comforted after his mother's death." ( Genesis 24: 1-67 ).God also reminds us that Abraham followed god's laws. Remember it was god that told Abraham he should sacrifice his son Isaac, and only at the last minute did he tell him not to. I think it's funny that even though Isaac wasn't killed for god, god still demanded Abraham kill an animal of some sort. Later, god appears to Isaac, and promises to give Isaac many things.

Genesis 26: 3-5
"Do as I say, and stay here in this land. If you do, I will be with you and bless you. I will give all this land to you and your descendants, just as I solemnly promised Abraham, your father. I will cause your descendants to become as numerous as the stars, and I will give them all these lands. And through your descendants all the nations of the earth will be blessed. I will do this because Abraham listened to me and obeyed all my requirements, commands, regulations, and laws."

Obviously god loves and cares about Isaac to a large degree, as he is picking Isaac's descendants to bless the world through.

So time passes, and Isaac and Rebekah have two children. Before they were born, the lord told Rebekah that they would be enemies. How nice. She's sold to someone, impregnated, and god himself comes to tell her that two whole nations of people would be separated ( Genesis 25:23 ). The twins were then born, Esau followed by Jacob.

We find out early that Esau was a hunter, while Jacob was a plain man, who just seems to have sat around all day in the tent ( Genesis 25: 27 ). Rebekah loved Jacob, and Isaac loved Esau. We see no indication that either parent loved the other child. So our first lesson in parenting is that it is okay to love one child but not the other.

The first interaction we see between the brothers is in Genesis 25: 29-34. Esau comes back from a hunt, and is starving to death. He asks his brother for some food, and Jacob has some available. What does Jacob do? He refuses. Jacob says that he will only give food to his dying brother if Esau gives up his birthright to him. Esau is the older brother so he has their father's birthright. Esau, stating that it would be better to live with no birthright than to die, accepts. It is in this manner that Jacob obtains the birthright. What a loving brother.

The conflict between the brothers continues in Genesis 27: 1-46. Who is the orchestrator of this conflict? None other than the twins' mother, Rebekah. She overhears Isaac ( who is basically blind ) telling Esau that he will gain a blessing if he goes to fetch venison for his father. Esau agrees, and leaves to hunt. Rebekah goes to her little mamma's-boy Jacob, and tells him that she will cook up a couple goats and make them taste like venison. Thereby, Jacob will be able to win the blessing, not knowing it is Jacob bringing him the food, as he is blind. Well Rebekah puts Esau's clothing on Jacob and goats hair on his hands so he will appear hairy to his father if he should touch him. Jacob does this, and wins his father's blessing that was meant for Esau.

When Esau comes back, he is filled with sorrow at hearing that the blessing has already been given to Jacob. Even after being deceived, does Isaac give the blessing to Esau? Even when Esau cries out to his father and weeps? No. In fact, he gives a mixed blessing/curse to Esau, including the line from Genesis 28: 40 "And by the sword shalt thou live, and shalt serve thy brother..." It seems that after realizing he was lied to and deceived by his other son with the help of his wife, he would not only give the blessing to Esau, but would have some well justified anger towards his conniving wife and other son.

Well, understandably, after having both his birthright and his father's blessing taken from him by his younger, snake-in-the-grass of a brother, Esau is a little angry. So angry, in fact, he threatens to kill Jacob. Of course, Rebekah comes to the little pansy's rescue and instead of facing up to his deeds, is spirited away to another country by his mother.

Use clubs to beat your children, stone them to death if they are disobedient.

This one is simple. The passages in the bible that instruct you to beat your child are numerous. Some even require you to use an instrument, such as a rod. I will list a few here.

Proverbs 23: 13-14
"Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with a rod, he shall not die. Thou shalt beat him with a rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell."

This next verse lets us know how stupid children are...

Proverbs 22:15
"Folly is bound up in the heart of a child..."

And how do we fix this?

Proverbs 22:15 continued
"...but the rod of discipline drives it far from him."

This next one tells you that "blows" and "strokes" are good for a child. To me, those two words imply something such as a club or whip, not just a smack on the butt.

Next, we are instructed to make sure to cause actual wounds, so we purge the evil away.

Proverbs 20:30
"Blows that wound cleanse away evil; strokes make clean the innermost parts"

Here's one of my personal favorite bits of loving parenting advice from god.

Deuteronomy 21: 18-21
"If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son, who will not obey the voice of his father or the voice of his mother, and, though they chastise him, will not give heed to them, then his father and his mother shall take hold of him and bring him out to the elders of his city...and they shall say to the elders of his city, 'This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton and a drunkard. Then all the men of the city shall stone him to death with stones; so you shall purge the evil from the midst"

I can't help but laugh out loud when I read that. To accentuate the hilarity of it, check out this page on the ever amazing Brick Testament Website. Even if Pascal's Wager was a reason to believe, I would rather serve satan in hell than the god of the bible in heaven. Remember this is the god that teaches us to beat our children and that a man will be happy if he "...seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks" ( Psalm 137:9 )while avenging the lord. Satan may not actually be so bad according to the bible, but that is a topic best left for another study.

Punish children for what their parents do.

It's amazing how anti-abortion most christians are, seeing that god has such little regard for children. They are punished throughout the bible for things they do not do. God endorses this idea time and time again.

I should take an aside here to mention how funny it is to me when people say, "Well our country's laws were based on the ten commandments!" Is that so? Sure, our laws may have certain things in common with the commandments of god, but that's it. Has our country every executed a man for a horse his great-great-grandfather stole back in the eighteen hundreds? I think not, and yet this is the type of law the bible teaches.

Exodus 34:7
"Maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation"

Deuteronomy 5:9
"You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me"

In the following well-known passage, god kills every firstborn child of Egypt because their king wouldn't listen to god. Not only the first born citizens, but the firstborn prisoners and animals.

Exodus 12:29
"At midnight the LORD struck down all the firstborn in Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh, who sat on the throne, to the firstborn of the prisoner, who was in the dungeon, and the firstborn of all the livestock as well."

Numbers 13:33
"Your children will be shepherds here for forty years, suffering for your unfaithfulness, until the last of your bodies lies in the desert."

This list is by no means exhaustive, but I believe it makes my point.

God commands people to eat children

What could be the ultimate human travesty? Of the million ways people have caused harm to each other throughout our history, I think that eating a child would definitely rank up there. If this subject is a bit disturbing, I'm sorry. Blame god, not me, because he commands it.

Here, if we fail to be nice to god, he will force us to eat our children.

Leviticus 26: 29
"You will eat the flesh of your sons and the flesh of your daughters."

Next, because people have turned their back on god, he will force them to cannibalize their sons, daughters, and each other.

Jeremiah 19: 9
"I will make them eat the flesh of their sons and daughters, and they will eat one another's flesh during the stress of the siege imposed on them by the enemies who seek their lives."

As if this weren't enough, here's some more.

Ezekiel 5: 10
"Therefore in your midst fathers will eat their children, and children will eat their fathers. I will inflict punishment on you and will scatter all your survivors to the winds."

Of course, I'm sure you know the whole basis of christianity is cannibalism, right? Here's Jesus teaching us that the only way to get into heaven is to cannibalize him.

John 6: 53-57
"Jesus said to them, I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him. Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me."

Pimp out your daughters, and have sex with them.
Our final lesson in biblical parenting is about Lot. Lot was Abraham's nephew, and settled in a city called Sodom ( Genesis 13:12 )

One day, angels appear to Lot outside of Sodom. They go into the city, and the cities inhabitants see the angels go into Lot's house. They surround the house and demand that Lot send the angels out so they can have sex with them. Lot is not willing to do so, but quickly offers to send his two virgin daughters out instead. Lot knows what god wants obviously, and this is devotion to him even at the cost of turning your two virgin daughters over to a mob of men battering down your door because they are so horny. Again, The Brick Testament shines in telling this story. The bible tells it in Genesis 19: 1-8

Later, after fleeing Sodom and Gomorrah, Lot is left wifeless after god turns her into a pillar of salt. He lives in a cave with his two daughters, who get him drunk and have sex with him in order that he may have descendants. This story is told in Genesis 19: 24-38. Of course, The Brick Testament does a great job with this story. I've been extremely drunk in my time, but I've never not known I was having sex with someone. It's the great cop-out for one night stands, and I can't belief Lot didn't know he was having sex with his own daughters. If he was that drunk, he would not have been able to perform.

This concludes our bible study on parenting. I hope it has been informative and educational. Now get out there and remember to beat your children as the lord commands, or he just might punish your disobedience by making you eat them! Hey that sounds like a nice verse, doesn't it?

Myndreach 1:1
"And thou shalt beat thy children with a cane, elst the lord thy god shall force feed you thine children."

Hmm, should this be fiction Horror Stories but wait' this is on faith O My it's Bad Dream but its word of god faith little faith book call bible hmm, when i was young boy even i knew what was fiction an rashonal true, like the easter bunny an sainta, tooth farry, little red riding hood, any many more,

The Problem of Evil
How Can A Good God Allow Evil?

The Problem of Evil - Introduction
John Stott has said that "the fact of suffering undoubtedly constitutes the single greatest challenge to the Christian faith." It is unquestionably true that there is no greater obstacle to faith than that of the reality of evil and suffering in the world. Indeed, even for the believing Christian, there is no greater test of faith than this--that the God who loves him permits him to suffer, at times in excruciating ways. And the disillusionment is intensified in our day when unrealistic expectations of health and prosperity are fed by the teachings of a multitude of Christian teachers. Why does a good God allow his creatures, and even his children to suffer?

First, it's important to distinguish between two kinds of evil: moral evil and natural evil. Moral evil results from the actions of free creatures. Murder, rape and theft are examples. Natural evil results from natural processes such as earthquakes and floods. Of course, sometimes the two are intermingled, such as when flooding results in loss of human life due to poor planning or shoddy construction of buildings.

It's also important to identify two aspects of the problem of evil and suffering. First, there is the philosophical or apologetic aspect. This is the problem of evil approached from the standpoint of the skeptic who challenges the possibility or probability that a God exists who would allow such suffering. In meeting this apologetic challenge we must utilize the tools of reason and evidence in "giving a reason for the hope within us." (I Pet. 3:15)

Second is the religious or emotional aspect of the problem of evil. This is the problem of evil approached from the standpoint of the believer whose faith in God is severely tested by trial. How can we love and worship God when He allows us to suffer in these ways? In meeting the religious/emotional challenge we must appeal to the truth revealed by God in Scripture. We will address both aspects of the problem of evil in this essay.

It's also helpful to distinguish between two types of the philosophical or apologetic aspect of the problem of evil. The first is the logical challenge to belief in God. This challenge says it is irrational and hence impossible to believe in the existence of a good and powerful God on the basis of the existence of evil in the world. The logical challenge is usually posed in the form of a statement such as this:

1. A good God would destroy evil.
2. An all powerful God could destroy evil.
3. Evil is not destroyed.
4. Therefore, there cannot possibly be such a good and powerful God.

It is logically impossible to believe that both evil, and a good and powerful God exist in the same reality, for such a God certainly could and would destroy evil.

On the other hand, the evidential challenge contends that while it may be rationally possible to believe such a God exists, it is highly improbable or unlikely that He does. We have evidence of so much evil that is seemingly pointless and of such horrendous intensity. For what valid reason would a good and powerful God allow the amount and kinds of evil which we see around us?

These issues are of an extremely important nature--not only as we seek to defend our belief in God, but also as we live out our Christian lives.

The Logical Problem of Evil
We have noted that there are two aspects of the problem of evil: the philosophical or apologetic, and the religious or emotional aspect. We also noted that within the philosophical aspect there are two types of challenges to faith in God: the logical and the evidential.

David Hume, the eighteenth century philosopher, stated the logical problem of evil when he inquired about God, "Is He willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then He is impotent. Is He able, but not willing? Then He is malevolent. Is He both able and willing? Whence then is evil?" (Craig, 80). When the skeptic challenges belief in God on the basis of the logical problem of evil, he is suggesting that it is irrational or logically impossible to believe in the existence of both a good and all powerful God and in the reality of evil and suffering. Such a God would not possibly allow evil to exist.

The key to the resolution of this apparent conflict is to recognize that when we say God is all powerful, we do not imply that He is capable of doing anything imaginable. True, Scripture states that "with God all things are possible" (Mt. 19:26). But Scripture also states that there are some things God cannot do. For instance, God cannot lie (Tit. 1:2). Neither can He be tempted to sin, nor can He tempt others to sin (James 1:13). In other words, He cannot do anything that is "out of character" for a righteous God. Neither can He do anything that is out of character for a rational being in a rational world. Certainly even God cannot "undo the past," or create a square triangle, or make what is false true. He cannot do what is irrational or absurd.

And it is on this basis that we conclude that God could not eliminate evil without at the same time rendering it impossible to accomplish other goals which are important to Him. Certainly, for God to create beings in his own image, who are capable of sustaining a personal relationship with Him, they must be beings who are capable of freely loving Him and following his will without coercion. Love or obedience on any other basis would not be love or obedience at all, but mere compliance. But creatures who are free to love God must also be free to hate or ignore Him. Creatures who are free to follow His will must also be free to reject it. And when people act in ways outside the will of God, great evil and suffering is the ultimate result. This line of thinking is known as the "free will defense" concerning the problem of evil.

But what about natural evil--evil resulting from natural processes such as earthquakes, floods and diseases? Here it is important first to recognize that we live in a fallen world, and that we are subject to natural disasters that would not have occurred had man not chosen to rebel against God. Even so, it is difficult to imagine how we could function as free creatures in a world much different than our own--a world in which consistent natural processes allow us to predict with some certainty the consequences of our choices and actions. Take the law of gravity, for instance. This is a natural process without which we could not possibly function as human beings, yet under some circumstances it is also capable of resulting in great harm.

Certainly, God is capable of destroying evil--but not without destroying human freedom, or a world in which free creatures can function. And most agree that this line of reasoning does successfully respond to the challenge of the logical problem of evil.

The Evidential Problem of Evil
While most agree that belief in a good and powerful God is rationally possible, nonetheless many contend that the existence of such a God is improbable due to the nature of the evil which we see in the world about us. They conclude that if such a God existed it is highly unlikely that He would allow the amount and intensity of evil which we see in our world. Evil which frequently seems to be of such a purposeless nature.

This charge is not to be taken lightly, for evidence abounds in our world of evil of such a horrendous nature that it is difficult at times to fathom what possible purpose it could serve. However, difficult as this aspect of the problem of evil is, careful thinking will show that there are reasonable responses to this challenge.

Surely it is difficult for us to understand why God would allow some things to happen. But simply because we find it difficult to imagine what reasons God could have for permitting them, does not mean that no such reasons exist. It is entirely possible that such reasons are not only beyond our present knowledge, but also beyond our present ability to understand. A child does not always understand the reasons that lie behind all that his father allows or does not allow him to do. It would be unrealistic for us to expect to understand all of God's reasons for allowing all that He does. We do not fully understand many things about the world we live in--what lies behind the force of gravity for instance, or the exact function of subatomic particles. Yet we believe in these physical realities.

Beyond this, however, we can suggest possible reasons for God allowing some of the horrendous evils which do exist in our world. Perhaps there are people who would never sense their utter dependence on God apart from experiencing the intense pain that they do in life (Ps. 119:71). Perhaps there are purposes that God intends to accomplish among his angelic or demonic creatures which require his human creatures to experience some of the things that we do (Job 1-2). It may be that the suffering we experience in this life is somehow preparatory to our existence in the life to come (2 Cor. 4:16-18). Even apart from the revelation of Scripture, these are all possible reasons behind God's permission of evil. And at any rate, most people agree that there is much more good in the world than evil--at least enough good to make life well worth the living.

In responding to the challenge to belief in God based on the intensity and seeming purposelessness of much evil in the world, we must also take into account all of the positive evidence that points to his existence: the evidence of design in nature, the historical evidence for the reliability of Scripture and of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. In light of the totality of the evidence, it certainly cannot be proven that there are no sufficient reasons for God's allowing the amount of evil that we see in the world...or even that it is improbable that such reasons exist.

The Religious Problem of Evil - Part I
But the existence of evil and suffering in our world poses more than a merely philosophical or apologetic problem. It also poses a very personal religious and emotional problem for the person who is enduring great trial. Although our painful experience may not challenge our belief that God exists, what may be at risk is our confidence in a God we can freely worship and love, and in whose love we can feel secure. Much harm can be done when we attempt to aid a suffering brother or sister by merely dealing with the intellectual aspects of this problem, or when we seek to find solace for ourselves in this way. Far more important than answers about the nature of God, is a revelation of the love of God--even in the midst of trial. And as God's children, it is not nearly as important what we say about God as what we do to manifest his love.

First, it is evident from Scripture that when we suffer it is not unnatural to experience emotional pain, nor is it unspiritual to express it. It is noteworthy for instance that there are nearly as many psalms of lament as there are psalms of praise and thanksgiving, and these two sentiments are mingled together in many places (cf. Pss. 13, 88). Indeed, the psalmist encourages us to "pour out our hearts to God" (Ps. 62:8). And when we do, we can be assured that God understands our pain. Jesus Himself keenly felt the painful side of life. When John the Baptist was beheaded it is recorded that "He withdrew to a lonely place" obviously to mourn his loss (Mt. 14:13). And when his friend Lazarus died, it is recorded that Jesus openly wept at his tomb (Jn. 11:35). Even though He was committed to following the Father's will to the cross, He confessed to being filled with anguish of soul in contemplating it (Mt. 26:38). It is not without reason that Jesus was called "a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief" (Isa. 53:3); and we follow in his steps when we truthfully acknowledge our own pain.

We cross the line, however, from sorrow to sin when we allow our grief to quench our faith in God, or follow the counsel that Job was offered by his wife when she told him to "curse God and die" (Job 2:9b).

Secondly, when we suffer we should draw comfort from reflecting on Scriptures which assure us that God knows and cares about our situation, and promises to be with us to comfort and uphold us. The psalmist tells us that "the Lord is near to the brokenhearted" (Ps. 34:18), and that when we go through the "valley of the shadow of death" it is then that his presence is particularly promised to us (Ps. 23:4). Speaking through the prophet Isaiah, the Lord said, "Can a woman forget her nursing child, and have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, but I will not forget you" (Isa. 49:15). He is more mindful of us than is a nursing mother toward her child! It is of the One whom we know as the "God of all comfort and Father of mercies" that Peter speaks when He bids us to cast our anxieties on Him, "for He cares for us" (1 Pet. 5:7). Our cares are his personal concern!

The Religious Problem of Evil - Part II
We noted that when suffering strikes it is neither unnatural to experience emotional pain, nor unspiritual to express it. But we also noted that when suffering strikes, we must be quick to reflect on the character of God and on the promises He gives to those who are enduring great trial. Now we want to focus on one of the great truths of God's Word--that even in severe trial God is working all things together for the good of those who love Him (Rom. 8:28). This is not at all to imply that evil is somehow good. But it does mean that we are to recognize that even in what is evil God is at work to bring about his good purposes in our lives.

Joseph gave evidence of having learned this truth when after years of unexplained suffering due to the betrayal of his brothers, he was able to say to them, "You meant it for evil, but God meant it for good" (Gen. 50:20). Though God did not cause his brothers to betray him, nonetheless He was able to use it in furthering his good intentions.

This is the great hope we have in the midst of suffering, that in a way beyond our comprehension, God is able to turn evil against itself. And it is because of this truth that we can find joy even in the midst of sorrow and pain. The apostle Paul described himself as "sorrowful, yet always rejoicing" (2 Cor. 6:10). And we are counseled to rejoice in trial, not because the affliction itself is a cause for joy (it is not), but because in it God can find an occasion for producing what is good.

What are some of those good purposes suffering promotes? For one, suffering can provide an opportunity for God to display his glory-- to make evident his mercy, faithfulness, power and love in the midst of painful circumstances (Jn. 9:1-3). Suffering can also allow us to give proof of the genuineness of our faith, and even serve to purify our faith (1 Pet. 1:7). As in the case of Job, our faithfulness in trial shows that we serve Him not merely for the benefits He offers, but for the love of God Himself (Job 1:9-11). Severe trial also provides an opportunity for believers to demonstrate their love for one another as members of the body of Christ who "bear one another's burdens" (1 Cor 12:26; Gal. 6:2). Indeed, as D.A. Carson has said, "experiences of suffering... engender compassion and empathy..., and make us better able to help others" (Carson, 122). As we are comforted by God in affliction, so we are better able to comfort others (2 Cor. 1:4). Suffering also plays a key role in developing godly virtues, and in deterring us from sin. Paul recognized that his "thorn in the flesh" served to keep him from boasting, and promoted true humility and dependence on God (2 Cor. 12:7). The psalmist recognized that his affliction had increased his determination to follow God's will (Ps. 119:71). Even Jesus "learned obedience from the things He suffered" (Heb. 5:8). As a man He learned by experience the value of submitting to the will of God, even when it was the most difficult thing in the world to do.

Finally, evil and suffering can awaken in us a greater hunger for heaven, and for that time when God's purposes for these experiences will have been finally fulfilled, when pain and sorrow shall be no more (Rev. 21:4).

The Grand Fonality of Religeous Doctern

Reading the comments on my previous post, it appears that some people are in doubt as to how the Bible says one should treat their own children. One commenter "highly doubt[s] God would condone murdering a 19 month old baby for not saying AMEN" and that I should reread the Bible, praying before and after every single passage. Someone else complained about verses being taken "out of context" and a third just said that she doesn't "live by Old Testament ways," despite Jesus's firm command to the contrary.

10. God deems it good to punish Babylon by smashing her infant children to bits on the street, so right off the rod we know that the slaughter of children cannot be a priori an evil thing in Biblical morality. (Isaiah 13:16; note that this is an edit from before, see comments)

I have served in the US army every since. so trust me I know religious wars. most of them are just excuses for evil men to do evil. and as the USSR example proves there are evil atheists as well.

Gold & Coal Miner,

It's Good That U realize faith religion is not your answer, but to look to your self, an what u say don't need Organized Religion fix your problems or the need of Scapegoating which is u take personal Responsibility of your action is the way to go, Scapegoating is the definition is 1 : a goat upon whose head are symbolically placed the sins of the people after which he is sent into the wilderness in the biblical ceremony for Yom Kippur
2 a : one that bears the blame for others b : one that is the object of irrational hostility your great role model for that, others should follow no needs god or make believe deity to have full life,

The Goal of Scapegoating

Scapegoating has been used by human communities to restore harmony and achieve peace since the beginning of civilization. The problem with scapegoating is not the result peace is a good thing but with the method used to achieve it. The costs of that method are measured in endless cycles of human suffering.

1 : a goat upon whose head are symbolically placed the sins of the people after which he is sent into the wilderness in the biblical ceremony for Yom Kippur
2 a : one that bears the blame for others b : one that is the object of irrational hostility

The Hidden Costs of Scapegoating

Scapegoating works by hiding the victims suffering so that scapegoaters never realize just how awful a deed they have done. With the suffering hidden, scapegoaters can continue to do harm while never doubting their own goodness or their victims guilt.

Someone to Blame

How is the suffering hidden? For scapegoating to occur, a community must agree on a target who can be blamed for anything that goes wrong. Sometimes a community just needs someone to BE wrong all the time, so they can know they are right. It really doesnt matter if the person is actually guilty or wrong, as long as everyone agrees on it. That agreement allows the community to act against the scapegoat and feel justified. They can hate, abuse, ridicule, neglect, expel, wound or kill the scapegoat and actually experience feelings of joy and well-being afterward. Because the scapegoaters believe in the guilt of their scapegoat so completely, they are blind to the scapegoats suffering.

If You Have a Scapegoat, You Dont Know It

No one wants to be a scapegoater. Its an awful thing and we all know that. But the tricky thing about scapegoating is that if you are doing it, you are absolutely blind to it. What you think you are doing is being good by standing up against injustice or evil. You absolutely believe that you are right and the one whom you are scapegoating is no innocent victim at all, but someone who deserves to be hated. So how do you know if you are really standing up to injustice or just torturing some innocent victim?

Examples

Cliques of popularity maintain the peace within their communities by focusing all their resentment outward against the unpopular. The clique never doubts their own goodness and never acknowledges the pain they have caused.
An office staff may achieve harmony by blaming an unlucky team member for everything that goes wrong. The staff feels good and noble and remains completely unaware that they are being cruel and unfair.
Individuals can do this, too. I can feel good about myself by hating a celebrity or politician or next door neighbor, feeling at peace with myself at the expense of an unfair attitude toward another.

Signs of Scapegoating

Here are some signs that you are scapegoating:

1) You are absolutely convinced of someones guilt.
2) You think that his version of things is filled with lies and distortions.
3) You celebrate wounding, killing off, or killing another.
4) If someone did to you what you are justifying in the name of goodness, their actions would be undeniable proof of their wickedness.

The Courage to End Scapegoating

To be sure you are not scapegoating, you must find the courage to honestly listen to the story of those whom you are convinced is guilty or evil. Seeing the suffering that they endure because of your persecution will destroy your ability to scapegoat them. The courage to end scapegoating requires the courage to admit you were wrong.

Welcome To Atheism personal Responsibility is right way go, But u need compassion an that not allways easy but u have life time to work for u to give to compassion to human race an no one is exactly perfect,

Cheers From,

It really doesn't matter if the person is actually guilty or wrong, as long as everyone agrees on it.

If You Have a Scapegoat, You Don't Know It

No one wants to be a scapegoater. It a an awful thing and we all know that.

Examples

1.Cliques of popularity maintain the peace within their communities by focusing all their resentment outward against the unpopular. The clique never doubts their own goodness and never acknowledges the pain they have caused.
2. An office staff may achieve harmony by blaming an unlucky team member for everything that goes wrong. The staff feels good and noble and remains completely unaware that they are being cruel and unfair.
3.Individuals can do this, too.

3) You celebrate wounding, â killing off others or killing another.

DUBLIN (AFP) - Ireland's Catholic Church apologised Thursday after a damning new report showed it covered up child sex abuse over more than three decades.

The Irish government also said sorry for failing to protect children in the wake of the latest report, published six months after a first landmark study revealed widespread abuse of children in Catholic care.

"I offer to each and every survivor my apology, my sorrow and my shame for what happened," said Diarmuid Martin, archbishop of Dublin since 2004.
"I am aware that no words of apology will ever be sufficient," he said, adding that "the fact that many abusers were priests constituted both an offence to God and an affront to the priesthood."

The country's most senior Catholic, Cardinal Sean Brady, echoed the comments, saying "I want to apologise to all those who have been hurt and their families."
Following a three-year investigation in the Dublin Archdiocese, the country's largest, the report concluded that four archbishops routinely protected abusers and failed to inform police of the allegations.

One priest admitted to sexually abusing over 100 children, while another confessed that he had abused on a fortnightly basis over 25 years.
"The volume of revelations of child sexual abuse by clergy over the past 35 years or so has been described by a Church source as a 'tsunami' of sexual abuse," said the report.

The Irish government also immediately apologised.
"Whatever the historical and societal reasons for this, the government... apologises, without reservation or equivocation, for failures by the agencies of the state in dealing with this issue," it said in a statement.

The judicial probe discovered that the archbishops did not report abuse to police until the 1990s as part of a culture of secrecy and to try and avoid damaging the reputation of the Church.
The report said: "All other considerations, including the welfare of children and justice for victims, were subordinated to these priorities."

It found children who complained "were often met with denial, arrogance and cover-up and with incompetence and incomprehension in some cases. Suspicions were rarely acted on."
The study comes just six months after a landmark report in May horrified mainly Catholic Ireland by revealing widespread sexual, physical and emotional abuse of children in Catholic-run institutions dating back to the 1930s.

Irish Justice Minister Dermot Ahern said he read the findings with "a growing sense of revulsion and anger" and promised there would be "no hiding place" for the perpetrators.
"The report catalogues evil after evil committed in the name of what was perversely seen as the greater good," he said.

Victims welcomed the new report.
Marie Collins, who was abused as a child in 1960, said: "This is the end of a very long road for victims of abuse and particularly for those of us who spoke out for so many years, and who were vilified by the church (and) called liars."

The 750-page landmark report by judge Yvonne Murphy is damning in its criticism of failures to protect vulnerable children.
The probe examined complaints of abuse of over 320 children involving a representative sample of 46 priests in the Dublin Archdiocese between 1975 and 2004.

The report said the phrase, "don't ask, don't tell" was appropriate to describe the attitude of the archdiocese to clerical sex abuse for most of the period covered by the report.
"Typically, complainants were not told that other instances of child sexual abuse by their abuser had been proved or admitted," it added.

Responding to the report, human rights group Amnesty International called for an urgent referendum to enshrine children's rights in the Irish constitution to prevent future abuse.

"This report makes for deeply shocking reading, even after all that has gone before it," said executive director of Amnesty International Ireland Colm O'Gorman, himself a victim of sexual abuse by priests.

How do you explain this then??If you so smart ass. This is catholic church doing and it comes from jesus christ.

A Catholic brother is accused of a 1980s sex attack on a teenager he was counselling after the youth had been molested by another man, a court has been told.

After the alleged incident, the boys' parents were told William Stanley Irwin would not work with youngsters again, but he subsequently became a dormitory master at St Stanislaus College in Bathurst and a teacher at St Aloysius College in Sydney, the court heard.

Irwin, 54, of Pyrmont in inner Sydney, appeared in Sydney's Downing Centre Local court on Tuesday, charged with two counts of gross indecency on a male under the age of 18 in the mid-1980s.
After Irwin's arrest last week, he was stood down from his current teaching job at St Aloysius College at Milsons Point, on Sydney's lower north shore, a day school for boys run by the Jesuits, the court was told.

Irwin is the 10th man to be charged following an investigation by Strike Force Bell into claims of sexual assaults on students at two secondary colleges at Bathurst, in central western NSW, between 1960 and 1993.
Some offences allegedly occurred at the prestigious boys' boarding school, St Stanislaus College.

According to police facts, Irwin was a Vincentian brother based at St Stanislaus between 1980 and 1983 and 1987 and 1989.
He left the Vincentian order in 2002.

The facts said Irwin's alleged victim was 15 when he was sexually assaulted by another man, who later pleaded guilty and was jailed.
At the time Irwin, who worked in a Victorian parish, was a "spiritual director" of the Catholic youth group ANTIOCH and provided counselling to youths.

The abused boy's parents, who trusted Irwin, had been referred to him for assistance with counselling for their son, the facts said.
When the youth was 17, Irwin allegedly took him on a trip to Sydney, before allegedly staying with him overnight at St Stanislaus and sexually abusing him.

After the boy's parents complained, the then-Vincentian Provincial, Father Gerald Scott, allegedly promised Irwin would be removed from all positions involving contact with children or young people.
But that did not happen, the statement says, and he in fact became dormitory master and taught personal development and religion at St Stanislaus.

The facts said police had located the Provincial's file on the matter, which was headed "strictly confidential".
In it, Father Scott allegedly recorded that Irwin had admitted "the bed incident" but said Irwin did not believe he had "a homosexual condition".

In the file, he allegedly wrote: "He must not go to Bathurst."
Magistrate Jane Culver continued Irwin's bail but ordered him not to be in the company of anyone under the age of 18 without supervision.

The matter was adjourned to the same court on February 11.

Nobody on here asked you to join. its called free will and yes christians sin. there are evil people in every group and the cathlic church is no exeption. to me the whole practice of celebacy for prests is wrong. no where in the bible does it say that anyone has to be celebent.
in fact gods first commandment was be fruitful and multiply. you get a bunch of people together that are repressing there natural instincts then it will happen. what pisses me off is them not reporting it. that however was a political decision. not gods answer. the bible calls what happened to those kids an abomination. me personnally I am a russian jew so if anyone has a reason to dislike christions it is me. yet I don't. most christions I know here in the us are good people and respect me as a person and a jew.
I am in the us army we have people of all races and religions. yet we manage to get along and work together. that is because of respect you do not have to agree with someones faith to respect it. there are many things in the christion bible that I as a jew do not agree with, but I am respectful of there beliefs, and say so without offending anyone. we are all adults here if you can't respect someones faith or race. then go back to burning your books and shouting sieg heil.

This is a fact. I looked it up in my little Sedur (Jewish prayer book).

The exact prayer is this:

"Blessed are you, Hashem, King of the Universe, for not having made me a Gentile."

"Blessed are you, Hashem, King of the Universe, for not having made me a slave."

Blessed are you, Hashem, King of the Universe, for not having made me a woman."

This prayer is said every morning by millions of Jews around the world.

Should Jews stop saying this prayer, as it is highly offensive to non-Jews and women? (and slaves)

I say, it is the 21st century, and its time to evolve.

Plus the fact that Jews make a huge stink about Catholic prayers that are deemed offensive to Jews. Its time to practice what we preach.

Nothing is wrong with jews. What is wrong is to attack others for their beliefs. I am Christian....Look what Christians did to my people, the Sioux. Hanging babies from trees, raping pregnet women till they die, scalping children and hanging the scalps in churchs and town squares, driving villages into frozen waters and watching them drown and freeze to death. I have more stories from present day...NO RIGHT does ANYONE have to strike down another ones faith or beliefs. It is pathetic as a human being, and wrong. Grow up if you feel the need to strike down what they have come to trust and follow. If you cannot do that, then dig your own hole and sit in it quietly.

My belief is that the Christian church has perverted just about everything you can imagine...they change the bible like every year, and try to shuve their beliefs down other peoples throtes...an example is that on my reservation on Pine Ridge they used to take the children and adults and force them to convert to the Christian religion. I remember sitting in a church with my elders and family, and preists yelling at children that our ways are bad. "Very bad bad bad!*Smack*" and other not-right things. But I still belive in Jesus, because Jesus is not those men, most of the bible is not Jesus's words....its other mens words which I will not trust another man. Basicly, I trust in Jesus, and Tatanka(God), and keep my own beliefs besides of what Jesus said himself.

For all to know About the Jewish Daily Prayer Here Goes this shows u all organized religion is evil hateful an Alot ugly elements, here goes

Jews daily thank God that they were not born Gentiles, women, or slaves

Faith religion is not your answer, but to look to your self, no one need's Organized Religion or faith to fix their problems for the need of Scapegoating which takes away your personal Responsibility an everyone should bare their on own actions this is the way to go, an other should follow this example as us atheist do as reasonable reasonable human beings

Scapegoating is the definition is

1: is a goat upon whose head are symbolically placed the sins of the people after which he is sent into the wilderness in the biblical ceremony for Yom Kippur
2: one that bears the blame for others b : one that is the object of irrational hostility your great role model for that, others should follow no needs god or make believe deity to have full life,

The Goal of Scapegoating

Scapegoating has been used by human communities to restore harmony and achieve peace since the beginning of civilization. The problem with scapegoating is not the result a peace is a good thing but with the method used to achieve it. The costs of that method are measured in endless cycles of human suffering.

1: a goat upon whose head are symbolically placed the sins of the people after which he is sent into the wilderness in the biblical ceremony for Yom Kippur
2: one that bears the blame for others b : one that is the object of irrational hostility

The Hidden Costs of Scapegoating

Scapegoating works by hiding the victim s suffering so that scapegoaters never realize just how awful a deed they have done. With the suffering hidden, scapegoaters can continue to do harm while never doubting their own goodness or their victim s guilt.

How is the suffering hidden? For scapegoating to occur, a community must agree on a target who can be blamed for anything that goes wrong. Sometimes a community just needs someone to BE wrong all the time, so they can know they are right. It really doesn't matter if the person is actually guilty or wrong, as long as everyone agrees on it.

If You Have a Scapegoat, You Don't Know It

No one wants to be a scapegoater. It a an awful thing and we all know that.

3) You celebrate wounding, killing off others or killing another.

Again, a gun is not dangerous in the hands of one person, but it is in the hands of another. OK. Gold & Coal. I usually monitor the threads I start and resurrect. Unfortunatly just after I resurrected this one I went into hospital to get my cruciate liggament reconstructed. And due to my computer being in the wrong corner of my living room, it was, up until now, tooo painful to sit at the computer. So. Whats going on? I'm gonna, over the next day or so, read through what is an immense amount of posts and words to see for my self. I would like you to chill out until I've caught up with whats going on. Then I'll be able to make a informed comment and start moderating again. Please.

In astrology, a planet's domicile (or less commonly house, not to be confused with the astrological house system) is the zodiac sign over which it has rulership. This is a separate concept from the houses of the horoscope. A planetary ruler is given to each sign, over which the planet is said to have a more powerful influence when positioned therein. A planet is considered to be in domal dignity when it is positioned in the sign it rules. This is the strongest of the five essential dignities of a planet.

In astrology, a celestial body is said to be in detriment, or exile, when it is posited in the zodiac sign opposite the sign it rules (over which it has domicile). When a celestial body is in detriment it is said to be not comfortable in that sign and to tend to operate with the least strength.

Do you recon this means in the Age of Aquarius there will be a realization of Duty coupled with a sense of incarnation (To realize in action or fact; actualize: a community that incarnates its founders' ideals.)?

You absolutely believe that you are right and the one whom you are scapegoating is no innocent victim at all, but someone who deserves to be hated. So how do you know if you are really standing up to injustice or just torturing some innocent victim?

3) You celebrate wounding, killing off others or killing another.

The courage to end scapegoating requires the courage to admit you were wrong.

, As I Quote, Its says, for all males To Thank god that your not woman or gentile

For all to know About the Jewish Daily Prayer Here Goes this shows u all organized religion is evil hateful an Alot ugly elements go along these lines here goes

Jews daily thank God that they were not born Gentiles, women, or slaves

I am a Russian Jew.... Jewish are from all over, not geographical, of course there is a homeland.

My husband is Puerto Rican and Black, is he African American? Not According to him, and he finds the term offensive, says there is no such thing. He says he is black, but American. Don't ask me to explain what he feels or what he says, we've been over it a million times.

My Great Grandparents came from Russia then Grandparents from Hungary to the US. We still acknowledge our Russian descent. I consider myself 'American' as well. Ethnicity and Nationality too often get intermingled unjustifiably. or example he often notes that many People who are Puerto Rican often get labeled something they are not. Often associated with Latin or Latino, he gets upset when people don't realize Hispanic and Latino are not the same thing.

About 6 years ago on St Georges day, I took over (on my own) from 2pm till 6pm, the clock tower in the centre of my city (in the top ten biggest in England) and hung up 2 banners and 3 England flags.
I put this banner on one side of the clock tower:

ENGLAND BORN
ENGLISH BE
ITS TIME TO SEE
OUR ENGLAND FREE

And this one on another side:

UNITED TO BE
INDIVIDUAL TO SEE

But that one was more to do with the new European Union.

I say on my own.......... I did take my 3 year old dog with me. Poor thing. There were definite moments when he looked like he didn't want to be there.

The foundations of the church is Paganism.
Unfortunatly at the time of the new age, man had lost his connection to the sun and started to think he was God.
So to bring the fear of God back into man, man created God in the form of the Sun and called him the Son. Now man would know he was not God.

This did two things.

By changing the Sun to the Son, it re-united man under the banner of God/Good.

But by doing this it removed all connection man had to the Sun and Nature, leaving man to think he was something special over life it's self. Thus leading us to the situation we now find ourselves in. The destruction of Nature, which in turn will destroy life it's self.

Helloa SaintAugustine. Organisations cost money, so the more members the more money and the stronger the organization. I don't blame him.
About him being good man, I recon that to stand at the front of the organization and say to those who want to kill him, Here I Am, in my eyes, is a good man. For without the church there would be no hope to those who need it the most.
They just need to realize that man now knows more than he used to. Alot more. And that the old idea's of reality are no longer feasible in the new age.
