Set your blackout periods now, don't wait until war.

I am in war at ze moment, the other dude got his set up, but it wont even let me -enter- mine for the first time. LOL

"Sorry. You can't change your Blackout Periods when you are in war with another President."

so, basically, he can attack me whenever, and i can't attack him because he needs his beauty sleep.

i find it kinda funny.

lol.

just letting you all know in case W3c wasn't Clear on the matter.

is not the dude's fault, is clearly w3c lack of forsight.

:P if i didnt want to be in war, id be in wp. but now that i am, i should be able to decide if i want blackout.

Why not let it set the first time even at war? and then have it unable change while at war.

Game news, May 11. Says neither player can fight during either player's blackout times. I think it serves its purpose better if one cannot change it during war.

Yeah, but the point I think Jojo is pointing out is the fact that the dude can't attack you either during this his blackout, so it is fair.

yeah, but dude is on opposite end of the world. :P

when he sleeps he has B.O and i cant attack.

when i sleep, he is online :P

see the problem.? not really fair, if you look at it in those terms.

(yknow its not that i actually care, but it's good to know these things)

iki's right on that one. At least a chance to set them up would be nice. Its a redundant feature that my have been added too quickly. More thought should have gone into it.

On a positive note, it was setup and "Working" very quickly.

I hope the issue at hand now will be addressed in like fashion: Quickly

Jojo,

Game news may 11 says that a country cannot attack or be attacked during blackout.

If your blackout period prevented your enemy from attacking then you could set up 6 countries on a rotation and block someone 24 hours until the declarations expire. Federations could use the war treaty and become immune to any attack.

They also need to give more than 4 hours of blackout. Everyone sleeps or works for 8 hours.

Other than, black out blows.

I think they only sleep for 4 hours and only work for 4 hours in the Netherlands. The rest of their time is spent playing Simcountry :)

Quote:

This feature allows presidents to set up to four hours each day in which they do not need to be available to fight any war.

Blackout periods can be changed once in 6 game months and cannot be changed during war or once war is declared

I thought it was pretty clear really.

Also 4+4 = 8

RC, great idea, try it out.

Keto, right, 4 hrs isn't much--perhaps they are actually doing the smart thing and introducing it on a limited basis to get the bugs out.

Iki, thank you for alerting us all of this concern.

yeah, and i can still paint the person's country despite the blackout.

I have entire country painted and the defender cannot really do anything about it due to the blackout. (except to move his own units around).

like Bumper Cars. XD

When B.O goes away, it won't have mattered that he had it in the first place.

I wonder what you guys think of that?

can you land SF units in a blackout?

Ikiryo,
Even if B.O. goes away people will still think of you as stinky. :P

WTH?!?!?!

My blackout is setup for GMT +1 ?!?!?!

Comon. w3c maybe I didn't read the screen slowly enough and set times too quickly but what the heck, My times are completely off. I am in the USA and overlooked that the time is AmersterDam blah.

Why do I have to think sooo hard. It would be nice to be able to set the time to your local time zone, all that thinking hurtz my head.

Of course my blackout times are screwed up and cant change because I am in a war. Truly Sukks.

This "BlackOut Law" needs to be rescinded I think. Confusing, redundant, and overall useless. I mean talk about shooting yourself in the foot. At least you guys get paid off WP.

Anyone know who brought up this idea in the first place. I understand its a legit concern. But most don't like it. And it should have been talked about or thought through much more thoroughly.

To my surprise, when logging in to check my war I got this message:

About Blackout Periods
Each president can protect his/her country against attacks during certain hours of the day.

The maximum blackout is 4 hours per day.
You can choose to protect your country for 4 hours straight or you can select 4 periods of one hour.

Of course you cannot attack other countries as well in your blackout period.

The hours you enter are in Amsterdam local time (GMT+1).
The current time in Amsterdam is 5:08 am (05:08).

Sorry. You can't change your Blackout Periods when you are in war with another President.

Quite rediculous.

Now I ripped through a c3 pretty quickly belonging to BC, now he is talkin greazy because my blackout saved him from further action. Mistakenly set to the wrong time. But who cares. I prefer to fight w/0 them anyway but was checking it out. It Sukks

iki, Did u say that you could paint out country while in BO. That is a tremendous advantage for the attacker. Uninhibited movement except for targets in the way.

Black out periods are not the greatest idea in the world. I would like to sleep for 8 hours a day, alas I have to work 8 hours a day...with transport and lunch makes a 10-11 hour day. leaving me 5-6 hours free to have a life. Should I choose to come play...alas I do this far to often, I could find my playmates blackout coinciding with my play time..leaving the game rather unplayable. Improve the war engine so our countries can look after themselves better. The drone/bomber screen for fighters effectively kills airdefense. Make interceptors smarter and defense gets a lot better!

8 hours sleep a day Vali? And only an 8 hour working day, lol.

What would M. Thatcher say?

If you can paint during a black out then the idea is complete BS.
Also I agree that iki-ryo should have been able to do an initial set up of BO hours whether in war or not.
That said, there are ways to make your country virtually paint proof unless the attacker destroys structures, which they cant do in a BO period.

We just solved the bug with being able to move your troops during the opponents blackout. It will be installed tomorrow morning and all your worries will be over. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
Cheers,
Jonni.
