Since the start of direct trading prices have continued to fall you get less and less money for a coin. And less coins for your money. Only one winner here and thats the GM!
Everyone naturally goes for the best deal for themselves, which has driven the market down. Lets agree a minimum price. 500B cash for a coin if you want the cash. 600B per coin if you want the coin. This way the dealers still make a profit, and the buyer gets a useful amount of cash for the coin sold.
Numbers are for demonstration purposes. Actual figures can be negotiated.

GK,
to me the problem is more that there are fewer contracts being offered. and prices are not being bid up that much. whether this is a result of fewer players or some other factor, i'm not sure. but there just doesn't seem to be that much activity as more large players leave the game.

why should the price be different? the numbers don't make sense to me. a coin is only worth what some one is willing to pay for it.

I sugget price changes to increase game playability. But alas its a futile attempt, to many capatilist playing the game ;-)
We need some good old fashioned price fixing. If I get 500B per coin I sell rather than 300B I can do alot more playing with that money.
It is true something is only worth what somebody is willing to pay, but I see no reason why we cant encourage them to pay more. In the interests of making the game that bit more fun.

yes but when you get to a point where you need the gc's then you have to pay the same amount back. paying more for them seems like it would only benefit the seller. my main point though was why have a different price for buying and selling
" 500B cash for a coin if you want the cash. 600B per coin if you want the coin"

Coins are harder to come by than cash, so the price for a coin tends to be higher.
All markets need to be regulated or the haves always exploit the have nots. As you can see by the pricing. The base price I think is too low. Buying coins at 300 and selling at 500+ only keeps the wealthy players weathly at the expense of the noob.

Not that players should not make a profit of course. I just suggest a more reasonable base price.

if some one is too lazt to check the prices then they deserve to get hosed though. if i have a choice of buying a GC at 300 or 500, of course i am going for the 300. if the consumers will only buy the 300 GC then noone will be able to sell the GC for 500. the only people who buy the 500 are either desperate or didn'e check the prices before buying.

who can buy gc's for 300? the base is 460 and most are going for no more than 500. so, i'm not sure what the problem is.

There is no problem as such. Just a difference in opinion on the base price of the accept game money offers, the lowest offers are 307B per coin. Highest at the moment 465B. Generally the prices have been in steady decline.
As less and less people are putting offers up the amount of cash offered is dropping. You wont catch me or probably any of you taking up these offers, but a poor noob may well. 465B is not too bad, but the trend is downwards.
If the market was to bottom out, so people were only offering 307B a coin. I would consider that do be a problem.

We are experiencing a Sim-recession

A recovery is on the horizon.

The market has shown a downtrend for the past fiscal quarter, maybe even the last two or three. We have assumed that the spring/summer season would bring a slowdown to natural growth. This is a historical time when people find other things to do in the lure of warmer climate. This year has been slightly different as this usual trend was fueled a bit more by "certain" players liquidating assets in mass.

This has lead to trickle a down effect. Sim Market Commodities have suffered due to over supply in the market. In turn decreasing profitabilty and so on and on until it starts to affect the cash market trading environment.

That said, opposite of the rl market which busts during the fall winter months(3rd & fourth quater); simcountry assets will eventually continue a trend toward the upside, as more bored people and returning players(realizing to leave was futile and self destructive) will have to batten down for another grueling fall/winter season, and join/rejoin to resume normal sim economic growth.

We expect this to happen very soon, and the results will show this indeed will be the trend for many years to come.

Stay tuned for further details.

LMAO!!

Stay

Oh... my... God. Someone call an economist! Oh, wait. I'm already here.

My professional opinion on this subject is shut up.

It's the players that are setting the prices. You don't like it? Well, sit tight and maybe Jesus will help you cure your frustration. In case Jesus doesn't appear (what??), try drugs.

Well lg, I don't see you offering $500B+ per GC. What? with all your quadrillions of simcash, and the horrendous FS you must pay...
What? oh, you would rather loan your simcash to make more simcash....

/me gets calculator...Hmmm...GCs...

;p
