I have seen this issue discussed before so I apologize but considering there has been a recent thread-petition started concerning the war screen, here it is. I and many others would like to be able to enter a numeral as the first value in the naming of a new unit. My boys in the 82nd Airborne Division aren't nearly as proud being designated as Airborne 82nd.

I used to name my units but I learned in a war that the names make it easier for your opponent to pick out units to hit from the list.

It is an advantage to force your opponent to search through long lists to attack the right units. The goal is to slow down your opponent any way possible.

BTW when did this change? I used to name units like 1st Mississippi Heavies and the like.

I brought this up a few months ago and was pretty much ignored. I agree with you fully jakester34. Being able to use numerals again would be nice.

As for giving away too much info during a war, I think it helps me more so the enemy. Using the generic names that automatically come assigned to the unit, I have no idea what unit is what.

I understand why names would be useful. I have just found that in my experience is gives too much useful information to my enemy.

I print out a lot of info and keep it in a notebook. It helps keep things organized.

It also allows me to track experiments and remember exactly what I have done.

It is an incredible gift to see all the air units nicely labeled "interceptor" or "helicopter" when trying to rifle through an air defense. Use some sort of simple code. I used to end my int units' names with a vowel, heli units with a consonant. In peacetime it is a minor annoyance, but more than worth it if you think you'll one day be at war.

Does no one keep these little golden nuggets of knowledge secret anymore?
Sure, tell them to your fed, but to publicly publish them ... well it might come back to bite you in the backside one day.

If you smashed your keyboard just in the right way, your opponent wouldn't be able to use military units in the war. You, on the other hand... :)

It was one of those nasty little things that had to be corrected, before it became a problem. Although... if nobody was able to use military units and we were all stuck with each other... I only see good things on this line of thought.
