<tommi> I think the problem is for people when they register and get to the country home page and look around and think: Now what?
[6:01:36 PM] <petraarkanian> i agree with you
[6:01:56 PM] <petraarkanian> that's kind of what i was asking to try and help with in the other chat room
[6:01:57 PM] <tommi> we are launching a new country home page coming Tuesday. not as a default but you can have a look and decide if you like it.
[6:02:03 PM] <petraarkanian> oooh
[6:02:08 PM] <petraarkanian> that sounds great
[6:02:33 PM] <tommi> we hope it will be more informative. we will continue from there to add easy to use features and guide beginners through the process.
[6:04:45 PM] <tommi> I saw the pages. great. never been there before.
[6:07:28 PM] <petraarkanian> lol
[6:08:07 PM] <meroviginian> this suks...I haven't been on in 4 months and my economy is in the shitter
[6:08:44 PM] <kissofdeath> tommi, ya'll have done a lot of work on the game, and it is much appreciated
[6:08:51 PM] <meroviginian> I hate the new level requirment
[6:10:06 PM] <kissofdeath> well that kinda disappointed me cuz i was almost at lvl 6 for the 300 gc award
[6:11:02 PM] <meroviginian> I hope the security council helps me out...I asked for aid
[6:11:05 PM] <CraftyCockney> You can still get there kiss cant you? Just in 2 stages
[6:11:39 PM] <kissofdeath> i think so, but not sure it is the same level of coin award
[6:12:23 PM] <kissofdeath> i gotta run, good peeps, cya laters
[6:12:28 PM] <kissofdeath> hugs e1
[6:12:28 PM] <meroviginian> 4 months ago I had 10 countries and had 40 trillion dollars in my main and now when I get back to playing this after 4 months I have only one country and only 2t...such bs
[6:12:37 PM] <kissofdeath> tommi, happy holidays if i don't see you
[6:12:38 PM] <CraftyCockney> Tata
[6:12:54 PM] <petraarkanian> cya kiss
[6:12:58 PM] <keto> bye kissi
[6:13:36 PM] kissofdeath has left
[6:13:40 PM] <tommi> thanks.
[6:13:50 PM] meroviginian has left
[6:14:46 PM] <tommi> noone lost anything with the new levels. the total amounts remained the same. this was needed because we want more levels in the future, with game missions added and game missions requirements as part of game levels.
[6:15:04 PM] <petraarkanian> ooo we're getting missions?
[6:16:20 PM] <petraarkanian> are we ever getting region-based resources? That would be a good feature to introduce if you ever open a new world, imo... would totally change the dynamic of the game and make economy alone a viable way to be powerful. If you control all the iron... no one will mess with you sort of thing
[6:16:27 PM] <tommi> We intend to add game missions. we hope to add challenges and also allow people who like to play a lot, to run several missions at the same time.
[6:16:29 PM] <petraarkanian> but i have my pipe dreams rolls eyes
[6:16:41 PM] <petraarkanian> very cool sounding
[6:17:49 PM] <petraarkanian> i don't know if you recall sam houston, but he and i brainstormed all the time over interesting features that would vastly alter the depth of strategy in sc
[6:18:06 PM] <petraarkanian> i might like this game a little too much >_>
[6:18:11 PM] <petraarkanian> kinda sad
[6:18:44 PM] <tommi> resources is an old plan and we have done a lot of the work already. Resources are now available where you set up the corporation and theyare unlimited. we want resources to be placed in countries at random. you will have to find them and then grant a concession to a corporation to dig them up.
[6:19:28 PM] <keto> how do we find this in our country?
[6:19:50 PM] <tommi> the concession is an asset that can be traded. once you know where iron resources are, you could start a plan to control some or all, with a group. It opens many new possibilities.
[6:19:58 PM] <petraarkanian> so does that mean that eventually not everyone will be allowed to build 50 oil corps per person? (bad for my present economy, but great for the game imo)
[6:20:15 PM] <petraarkanian> hehe that makes me happy inside
[6:20:27 PM] <petraarkanian> would make CMs important too if you wanted to control them inside a smaller group
[6:21:52 PM] <tommi> there will be a search process to find the resources and there is a very small chance that there will be enough oil in one country to create 50 corporations.
[6:22:06 PM] <CraftyCockney> wow, this game could completely take over my rea life...
[6:22:20 PM] <petraarkanian> i had 180 oil corps in my LU main
[6:22:26 PM] <petraarkanian> but i'm glad that will be nerfed
[6:22:29 PM] <petraarkanian> i have*
[6:23:03 PM] <petraarkanian> so, tommi, this means players can be real economic powers without the need for huge militaries because they will hold important world resources in their hands (if they choose)
[6:23:32 PM] <petraarkanian> does that mean W3 will stop the "emergency market injections" also?
[6:23:59 PM] <petraarkanian> i ask because, suppose a peaceful player is attacked, but he controls all the iron. He stops iron production in retaliation, forcing the world to come to his aid
[6:24:00 PM] <tommi> we will not touch any of your current corporations and will assume the country has the resources for all its corporations. as for the future, the resources will be in many places and you will either conquer the country that has them or purchase it or by the concessions to mine the resource or buy the corporations or whatever way you think of.
[6:24:02 PM] <petraarkanian> something like that
[6:24:09 PM] <CraftyCockney> Well, then other players would have another reason to take your countries!
[6:24:28 PM] <petraarkanian> yeah, that's true CC
[6:24:34 PM] <petraarkanian> BUT, think about it
[6:24:59 PM] <petraarkanian> if your economy comes to a halt because some *** attacks the person that controls a certain resource... wouldn't you be more inclined to defend that person?
[6:25:25 PM] <petraarkanian> it makes for real world-wide impact. The way the world market works now your economy doesn't really have ANY influence on your power
[6:25:35 PM] <petraarkanian> except for the degree to which it lets you maintain an army, that is...
[6:25:37 PM] <tommi> well the idea is that people will have more to think about and be challenged. The deliveries by W3C are annoying to us too.
[6:26:07 PM] <tommi> sometimes we need to intervene because the economy could collapse and we have no good way to fix it.
[6:26:31 PM] <CraftyCockney> Yeah, it cetainly would change world politics, CMs feds and so on.
[6:26:45 PM] <petraarkanian> i understand why you do it now, but hopefully this will change it too because if resources are in a country supposedly they'll be cheaper to make and thus more profitable to sell
[6:27:05 PM] <tommi> the way it works, there is no flexibility in the use of materials. If iron is in short supply, steel will follow and many other products too and then everything will stop.
[6:27:06 PM] <petraarkanian> anyways... see what i mean about thinking about this game too much?
[6:28:45 PM] <tommi> so mainly with products that are used inthe production of most other products, we must intervene when shortages are unreasonable. we never compensate for more than 20% of the shortage and in no case, do we change a shortage into oversupply.
[6:30:07 PM] <tommi> The economy is so large, it is hard for one country to make the rules. large empires or a group could.
[6:31:23 PM] <tommi> One of the first additions we expect, shorter term than the resourses feature, will introduce the open markets on space stations with cargo shuttles logistics.
[6:31:58 PM] <petraarkanian> oooh that will be interesting too. I have no clue how you guys are planning on making that function
[6:32:02 PM] <tommi> this will open many new possibilities to trade and also to store strategic materials for use anywhere and for future trading.
[6:33:19 PM] <CraftyCockney> Their capacity seems a bit small at the moment Tom, will the stations get bigger, or be more of them?
[6:33:43 PM] <tommi> we will introduce cargo shuttles, no space wars yet, that will be able to move materials fom any place to one of the space stations and open for trading. direct trading, like the gold coins are trading now.
[6:34:08 PM] zrapid has become available
[6:34:16 PM] <petraarkanian> ...yet?
[6:34:25 PM] <petraarkanian> you're making me feel all tingly
[6:35:19 PM] <tommi> you will be able to setup your own docking station on one of the space stations (or even setup your own space station and sell docking rights) and you will be able to store large quantities of products, weapons, ammunition or fuels and trade them for gold coins.
[6:35:20 PM] <CraftyCockney> lol wild, more warring to master.
[6:36:47 PM] <tommi> don't hold your breath. we are trying to be fast but there some work to do before we can have space wars but we will add that feature too.
[6:37:04 PM] * CraftyCockney wonders if jeeps work in space...
[6:37:07 PM] <petraarkanian> i've been really happy with the rate at which changes are coming recently, actually
[6:38:27 PM] <petraarkanian> i'm most excited about quality in weapons. The only thing i hope for is the quality of weapons in a unit is more important than the quality of the ammo. Or at least is equal in importance
[6:38:40 PM] <petraarkanian> i have a lot of 100Q ammo to use up
[6:38:59 PM] <petraarkanian> and a 250Q plane should cost as much upkeep as a 100Q one... having to buy 250Q ammo though. EEGH
[6:40:34 PM] <tommi> the quality will be the average of the weapons and ammunition but ammunition quality will be a little easier and faster to increase. Ammo quality will independently of the weapons, have also an effect on the range of the ammunition.
[6:41:00 PM] <petraarkanian> woot. nice to hear
[6:42:14 PM] <tommi> This is now close to 1 am. I have a meeting in Amsterdam at 9:00 we had 10 inches of snow here which is very unusual, and I will have to get up at 7 and leave quickly or not make it. So I am afraid I have to go.
[6:42:53 PM] <CraftyCockney> Good night Tommi.
[6:43:12 PM] <petraarkanian> 'night tommi
[6:43:15 PM] <petraarkanian> thanks for stopping in!
[6:43:16 PM] <chiwoo> thanks for info tommi ,later
[6:43:33 PM] <tommi> good night. If you are interested, you can copy some of it into the forum. We will publish more coming Tuesdayand following Tuesdays.

so they are planning on adding space wars, sounds fun.

Thats great that they are adding regional resources but that would suck to be the center of oil mining when the supply drops and market crashes...be just like the middle east now.
