It appears you can only sell your population down to 25M now instead of the previous 20M.

Why the further limitation? It has become hard enough to sell population with the 'diminishes workers' requirement...20 mil seemed like a more than reasonable limit along with that.

Oh...and I just discovered that you can not move transfer between your own countries unless population is >100 million...seriously...that has to be a mistake...

I sure hope it's a mistake! There's no mention of such a change in the game news!

These resent changes BLOW PIGS and DONKEY MULES...you all know what I am saying...LOL! But, seriously...WTF GM's...these rule changes are ridiculous even if we weren't figuring out this stuff blind (back to old school)...change it back and give us an explanation why your always trying to the ruin the game for some of us!!!

Seems they are going back to the old order of business when you were actually doing pretty well in keeping us informed...must be they knew how unpopular this change would be!

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

The documentation implies (to me at least) you should keep pop below 60M, now they've removed the best tool to accomplish this!

Well, I'd guess they're trying to make it less profitable to strip countries.
Maybe it's a good idea.
Or maybe not. It depends on who you ask >_>
Um, I don't get why they would block moving people between your own countries though; that only worked above 30M anyway.

I'm sure that is the intention, but when you consider that for the *most* part stripping is done to *inactive* empires to the benefit of *active* empires it wouldn't make much sense to make stripping less profitable. It is active players that will be annoyed with such things and inactive players who gain benefits...doesn't make much sense. Perhaps the goal is to get us to spend more GC and thus more cash (which to be honest I don't have a problem with, the $3 a month I pay to play this game works out to about 5 cents per hour of entertainment), however it seems like a silly way to go about it. Why not just raise the rates? Or, why not offer a higher level membership with an increased price that gives some added benefits? That way the vets will most likely pay the additional cash while still allowing the newer players to play at the lower price until they get interested enough to upgrade.

This just seems to me to be an unreasonable interference in the market. If it's more cash they want/need then be honest about it and figure out a way to get it straight up instead of by making changes that make the game less fun and thus makes me want to spend less and not more on it.

Because Whiteboy, the GMs are arrogant. They think they have a captive audience and we will suffer whatever gets thrown at us. For now, they may be right, (some have had enough and left), but sooner or later an equally good game will surface and SC will have to re-think its attitude if they want to continue in business.

We end up with funny messages like this when we try to transfer population:

Quote:

The current population of Kashmir is 53,189,881. You are not allowed to let it drop below 100 million. The current population of Dream On is 62,410,324. The population of Dream On may not exceed 100 million.

I agree that the old method of transferring pop needs to be replaced by an letting countries implement immigration policies to attract new residents. If this is what the GM's are trying to do, this may be ultimately be good. Right now the way they're doing this appears heavy handed (using polite terminology). With all the players willing to work with the GM's to improve the game, to suddenly implement this sort of change seems counterproductive. Right now, I'm too discouraged to spend any effort to help new players.

Tommi (a gamesmaster) was in the sccafe chatroom this morning (9am GMT) and did not/would not answer me when questioned about intra-empire population transfers.

[08:58] CraftyCockney: Good morning Tommi, can you tell me when we will have the ability to transfer population within our own empires again please?
[09:02] superdad has left
[09:07] desert_fox: good morning
[09:12] desert_fox has left
[09:44] thegrandduke has joined
[09:44] Role of thegrandduke was changed to 'Participant'.
[09:44] thegrandduke has left
[10:10] tommi has left

Just so you can see I was not rude or beligerent :p

Let's try not to jump to conclusions.

I e-mailed the GM about the population transfer problem between countries.

They responded that it must be some kind of glitch and that they would look into it on Monday.

OK Green Starfish, but how does that explain the lack of communication? Tom Willard had time to read and post in other threads today, he had the opportunity in chat also. I've jumped and landed squarely on two feet right on top of my conclusion.

This particular glitch seems to have first surfaced on the forum on Friday. Seeing as how it's not what most would consider a dire emergency, I don't see what the big deal is for them to wait until a workday to look into the problem and to publicly comment on the problem.

I wouldn't call not checking/responding to a post on the forum (or a message on chat) - on a weekend - as "a lack of communication." Particularly, when they quickly responded to my direct e-mail.

In addition, I have greatly appreciated the frequency of game news in the recent months. If anything I would say the level of communication is far better than it was a year ago.

Seems they fixed the Population transfer back to 25 mil at least that's something, but yet still not a peep on the Games News about the rest of the changes or more importantly why they made these changes and how they expect this to be better for the game...what gives! GRRRRRRRRR!

Yeah--Before the glitch I had 600,000 unemployed LLW's, now I have almost two million. Did they do something to the ed system? It looks like it'll take a couple days to get my countries and enterprise back to where it was. It seems to me that when a glitch like this occurs they shouldn't charge us the GC charge for empires and corps.

I stand by this comment, as the glitch was fixed in a prompt manner.

They did not comment on the glitch. But I have decided not to get out my wooden paddle just yet...

Ho hum. Another nice surprise from the ever helpful, communicative wise gamesmaster.

Number of Gold Coins should be less than or equal to 4

So now I cant name my own price for the ever scarcer population...

Still, I have city maps, and they MIGHT answer an email, mustn't grumble.
