So econ players have been unfairly treated n leveling its unrealistic we need to come up with new ways or something to offset the war. personally i been working on this idea

One thing that must be fixed is th cost of Financial Services penalty paid by peaceful players.

This feature should be disabled for peaceful players.

Financial Services are indeed a pain. I think that they should be inspected closely in relation to how many loans a player has given out. If a player has given out 100t in loans, they shouldn't be slapped with financial services if they don't log in for a day or two and a chunk of the loans is paid back.

Excellent article, SuperSoldier. We econ players do get treated unfairly by the leveling requirements.

Econ players need more countries and much more population than war players. Since buying lots of population is expensive, econ players feel pressure to conquer high population countries.

It's almost as if the leveling system expects econ players to be the real warlords. But war players get awards mostly for stockpiling weapons.

Some ideas ive come up with.

A federal exchange the cost to build would cost Trillions(10T) mainly the cost is becuase of it income. A single Exchange offers 50Billion a month income. plus the needed resources(see below for more info)
http://simcountry.wikia.com/wiki/Federal_Exchange

Second when you start your empire you choose how to be judged (Full game or Peacefully) once chosen you cannot revert back. War players get the same things they have now, Econ players get 1extra secure country *this will not apply on Fearless blue* what happens is a player starts with there original country, they can either buy or conquer a C3 once done they click war protection and have the chance to select secure mode. Those 2 country are forever locked in and cannot be changed, giving the econ player a 2country base in which to start there economic empire

The next idea is to make econ players more effective again by choosing how they will be graded from the start and econ player get a 20% production boost meaning there default factorys make 120% instead of 100% at a 100salary

If you have any new ideas PLEASE PLEASE message me as it would be much appreciated...what u all think?

'when you start your empire you choose how to be judged (Full game or Peacefully) once chosen you cannot revert back.'

But what happens if an econ player gets insulted on the forum and wants to defend their honour?

I don't think peaceful players need a bunch of special features added for them. Just give peaceful players a discount on war protection, and increase the amount of cash they can have in their countries before paying financial services. It's just ridiculous to require 20T+ per country and then nail them with penalties.

Maybe reconsider the 120mil pop per country for level 16 too :d That level of population is not sustainable.

see the only issue is the fin index to have a 130 in ALL countrys requires u to have small or near nothing military n to make them have a ton of cash and pay for WP all the time is hard in LU your taking 6countrys require 9 GC a DAY!!! peaceful players need some form of an edge. My best country is 110corps 40 are CEOS 10% tax rate n i make 135 fin index with O military weapons. either the requirements need to be rewritten or we need some kind of edge, im thinking 2 secures

WP

To keep a country in WP now cost 3GC per game year....or 460B * 3 = 1,380B per game year.

Question: What is the average military budget to defend a regular non-peaceful mode player country?

I suggest that econ players and war players have exactly the same leveling requirements, except for the defense and finance indexes. The defense index should be higher for war players while the finance index should be higher for econ players.

That would be a simple but fair differentiation between the two styles of playing.

A slight change in WP pricing would be rather helpful for peaceful players. (And Econ countries for all players)

Currently 1GC = 4 months WP = $1,380B per game year (This equals $10,350B per real month on WG or $20,700B per real month on LU...Or 22.5GC a real month on WG or 45GC a real month on LU based on the 460B exchange rate for an average 30 day month)

WP is a major cash cow for the people running Simcountry.

Suggestion:
1GC = 5 months WP = $1,104B per game year
or
1GC = 6 months WP = $920B per game year

Scarlet (Golden Rainbow)

Wednesday, May 26, 2010 - 10:09 am Click here to edit this post
12 / 4 = 3 GC * $460B = $1,380B
12 / 5 = 2.4 GC * $460B = $1,104B
12 / 6 = 2 GC * $460B = $920B

There ya' go!

Unless you are on a world were there is no war I agree WP should be in place.

I'd like to see WP sold at a discount to the current arrangement. The catch being a WP country should be locked in WP for the duration of the WP purchased.

Super the answer to that question is obvious.

Sadly, they should have never introduced this set of different game modes, when neither game mode can be true. An War player can never fully reach the potential of a warlord, unless he/she is very good at economy. On the flip side an econ player can never truly stay economic, as long as they hold slaves. However, WP is the happy medium.

Players don't pay for war protection because they have enough friends, ability, and military defenses in their countries, and can become available to defend their countries. If you don't meet those standards, that is why you have to pay for war protection. Oh and don't forget the pirates.

"again u guys dont pay for WP why should i? "

what? shakes head, what? so you want to have your cake and eat it to?

so say that an econ player shouldn't have to pay for war protection, because a war player doesn't have to? take a look at some of those larger war countries, look at the military assets... consider the value of those in terms of GC, not to mention how much the country is paying per month in military upkeep. and the cost of ammo that is used each month in standard training.

then their is a ton of things you wont see... like lower income because of the need for strat corps. lower income from lower sals, the lower income from less workers for corporations, the Ts of game cash dropped into trucks, fuel, military supplies, and other supplies to offset boycotts. to say a military player doesn't pay for war protection, is ludicrous. just because a war player isn't directly spending GC for WP, doesn't mean they aren't paying out the nose to avoid war.

in fact, with the amount of time and planning that goes into war preparation, and that a war player still has to master the econ side. you could look at it as an econ player is only playing half the game, and maybe they should have half the score!!!

By using a booster for 1 GC, you can extend the war protection period by 4 game months.

so the better break down is that war protection costs 115B per game month, maybe another way to look at it is, why should you just be given a free 115B because you don't want to play the war game?

as far as making leveling easier for econ players, i don't know

Most war players can protect themselves, an econ player to have a 130fin index is tough and to have to save TRILLIONS per country and spend trillions to stay safe means that we have to find another steady ground. if half the game in WP its going to suck we are going to have much much more C3 warring and territory deputes WP should be temporary fix. Im only proposing ideas because the game was based on war then they made a flip and it wasn't though out enough. as Orbiter said it would cost 115B a month plus everything else i need even if i make 100B a month its going to take awhile and if i have a CEO or 2 it will make it more complex. We need and idea that would help Econ Players but at the same time not make it unfair whos to say a warlord switches to econ buy there decreased WP then flips back? their getting n easier ride. im trying to propose stuff to the admins beside WP tell me your thought... Each government has it own ability, new items, econ get 2 secure, econ players defaults get 20% more start production? a little idea will go along way...WP is a safety net for a short term fix not a long term solution

A 130 FI is tough? It's a breeze, unless you're supporting a military. Hemlock on any world isn't below 153 FI. No military, no need in a secured country.

Now if I ever want to go past 160FI I'm going to need to have over 100B in costs a month.

With all due respect SS, you are new to this game and your lack of understanding shows. If I may just point out a couple of things:

If you have 2 countries, you can make one econ, with an FI of 150 - 160 (no military as WD points out), *(In fact, when you get established you can get an FI over 300). You then have a war country (slave) whose FI can drop to 110 or less and you have an empire average of 130. Remember: The level requirements are an average, you dont need 130 FI in all countries.

A good war slave or two will enable you run several good econ countries and be able to protect them on the whole. (No guarantees given :P ).

Making 100B a month is the minimum requirement for any non-war slave country, some make 500B+. CEOs do make things a bit more complicated, but can greatly increase your income and, ironically, can greatly assist your defense abilities. ;)

The issues regarding people abusing the 'spirit' of WP are different to your arguement about the econ Vs war game.

Personally I think you should use your skill and judgement to beat the game, not try to change the game to suit your ideals. But 10 out of 10 for at least thinking about things and long may you run.

Any suggestions on what i should do cuz i dont know if im taking the right path. thanx
oh and to anyone that i have pissed off by taking over a corp, im truly sorry. After playing a bit i realized that it aint alright to take over someones corp. and if u want ur corps back, i will be more then happy to return them back.

Da Don, you do realise that you can put your excess cash (over about 12T before the Feds want their cut) into your direct trading account, like a nice little tax haven.

Also, if your holding that much loot in your slaves, you want to be sure you're packing plenty of heat, so don't sack your hitmen. There's always another mob ready to take control of your turf ;)

Don, I dont think its going to make any difference to your levels by keeping excess cash in your main. Move it to your DT account and save yourself the fees.
It costs 1 GC a day to keep an empire (per world in otherwords) and 1 GC per day per enterprise. This is seperate from paying real money to have an account ($12/3months) for which I think you still get coins thought they did change the rules on that so I'm not certain.

This issue isn't a priority, but it is an issue.

It makes no sense sense to offer a peaceful game mode, and expect and suggest the player to become an highly appealing target vulnerable to war.

My usual recommendation in face of failed mechanisms, which offer trouble or nothing downstream, is to have them removed. So, one possible solution here is to have one single Game level scheme - like we had before.

However, given there are players who wish to play a peaceful game mode, and the addition of game levels as a requirement to build corporations compels them to rise through the Game levels, among other factors, an effort has to be made to resolve this situation. Also, it comes as a necessity to the Game to find a balance between a peaceful and war mode, if long-term success wants to be attained.

I see one main problem with the current mode: it asks for a Peaceful player to have one or more country susceptible to war. If a player chooses to play a Peaceful mode, he is obviously choosing not to participate in war, either as an attacker or as a defender or as an ally. There are other possible problems, but of smaller dimension, such as the accumulation of cash when confronted with Financial Services, and the feasibility of the requirement of high indexes.

To resolve the main problem, we can follow a number of solutions, but I'll only present two:

1. The "number of countries" requirement is changed to 1 on all levels.
This is very easy to do and doesn't imply many changes. To compensate for the facility, a number of new requirements specific to this scheme will be add, such as N number of X, Y and Z type of corps in the enterprises, N corps over K market value, some relation with the coming Natural Resources and others some such. Also, the country wouldn't be able to get out of secured mode, declare war and join a federation.

A player can only choose this scheme when it has only one country and doesn't belong to a federation. To avoid unnecessary discrepancies, the requirements for this scheme should be equal to the War scheme, when it is only necessary one country to advance to the next level. If one gets tired, one can change to the War scheme at any time.

This will greatly overlap Peaceful mode and Enterprise Mode, which comes with the extra expense of 30GC per month. But, given this already happens with the other schemes, it matters little.

2. Extend the number of countries in secured mode to three, to those who choose peaceful mode.
This provides security, doesn't make it too easy, and allows them to experience a bit the war engine, helping them to decide how to play the game.

A player can only choose this scheme if he has less than three countries and doesn't belong to a federation. One's able to change to the War scheme, if all countries have less than 400 defense force index and 100 Off index each.

I'm seeing one problem at the moment. A "peaceful" player can surround a Warmonger to give him coverage from land units. To null this tactic, all countries will have military access to the countries in this mode. This is arguable, and might not be done.

I thought of including - and even of indexing - the cost of war protection of this mode with the monthly membership cost, but it simply doesn't work fairly in a dynamic environment.

On the smaller problems, I feel little or nothing has to be done. Financial Services won't stop you, as the monthly profit will have to make more than compensate the fee - and you can always loan the money out to avoid it -, so they don't come as a definitive block on advancing through the Game levels. As for the indexes, I initially thought they were too high, but given there isn't the weight of the army to drain manpower, it is probably doable, but only time will can tell.

The question I have for everyone is this:
Which alternate scheme would you prefer for the peaceful Game levels and why? And which Game level scheme are you using now?

Don ~ I'm still a fledgling myself. No dangers here. Maybe in a few hundred trillion military assets. When I realized what had happened, since I see my shares way too often on my enterprises, I had a brief flash of anger, then I started laughing. It was a slick move. You probably noticed I sold out.

Definitely not a big deal. If I can't appreciate a good tactic, it's time to close up shop.

Laguna ~ In my case, I'd consider both of those viable options.

My own situation is simple. In two of my operations (KB and GR) I'm sitting at level 4 peaceful. With the corporation level requirements, this gives me the most flexibility while I get things prepped over time for moving ahead. In my primary theater of operation (LU) I've switched to the war ranks finally and have moved rapidly from level 4 peaceful to level 8 military.

I'll admit I personally think all new players should be defaulted to the "peaceful" levels to encourage them to get their economies together. Up to 4, they're quite useful for country development.

In the long run, a good education index (200 seems like a good number; remember that education index is equal to the lowest of your elementary/HS/university indexes) and appropriate education priorities will solve most worker problems....

But, sometimes if you end up with a lot of low level workers (or if you are impatient :P ), it's best to invade some C3s and trade your LLW out for other kinds of workers/professionals.

I'd say 150, at 200 you can't keep HLWs. Period, you'll actually go into negative increase there.

I've got a country with a 211 Education Index. It stinks sometimes, but I don't want to close anything.

Scarlet Bastion on GR (adequately defended):

30,000,000 population
196 Education Index
119 Health Index
102 Social Security Index
94 Employment Index
121 Transportation Index
123 Finance Index
408 Defensive Force Index
84 Offensive Force Index
112 Welfare Index

Monthly Non-Military Cost:
$28.5B
Monthly Military Cost:
$41.6B
Average Monthly Income:
$115.9B
Average Monthly Profit:
$45.8B

Hypothetically, I increase country population by 50%. No increase to military cost. Income increases proportionally (it would actually be more than this). Non-Military increases proportionally.

Monthly Non-Military Cost:
$42.8B
Monthly Military Cost:
$41.6B
Average Monthly Income:
$173.9B
Average Monthly Profit:
$89.5B

This leads me to assume that a 45M population country supporting 408 DFI and 84 OFI can easily support an 150 FI. In fact, removing all offensive forces will not only decrease costs by $5.8B, but allow sufficient population to staff two upgraded corporations. This could be a $9B turn around in profit.

EDIT: Alternatively, I could "weaken" my defense by halving my air wings to a mere 50 DIW and 30 DHW and cutting my garrions to ~1000 weapons and eliminate my offensive forces to cut my military costs without increasing population to produce:

Monthly Non-Military Cost:
$28.5B
Monthly Military Cost:
$20B (high estimate)
Average Monthly Income:
$115.9B
Average Monthly Profit:
$69.4B

This would EASILY produce 150 FI at 30M population. Earning me Level 9 with no problem and leaving plenty of room for non-military costs as population grows to maintain >150 FI. This doesn't even take into account the increased corporation room at 30M.

War is part of life in the real world and it is part of the game for anyone who wants it.

Many of the participants in the game may not be interested in fighting wars and they are welcome to play a peaceful game. Their country can remain in secured mode and will never be attacked.

Anyone who wants to play the full game, will find out that as in the real world, if a small number of countries are conducting themselves aggressively and plan to conquer others, they will find themselves building up defense forces to prevent being attacked.

In Simcountry, all new players are protected against war and can choose to remain in secured mode indefinitely.
-----
ok, so the cost of building and maintaining an army is higher than the cost of WP, and additionally, the econ country can build more corps, based on the lower need for manpower. and the "full game" of sc includes the war game... hey!! give players 3 secured countries if they want them... also give war players, like a 20% score bonus, and/or the effect of 2 military spending boosts per day...
