I'll just replace WTF for What... It's prettier that way.

That limit isn't intended. It should be unlimited, it is likely to be a glitch. I'll add it in my next bug report.

In the meantime, you can sell the shares of companies you have no interest which.

You don't need to repeat the same question again.

It is a very long time glitch. It isn't intended, for it would have a consistent cap for all players at all times, and not a somewhat random number which changes at every update. It is most likely a technical limit of the game and not an imposed one.

Also, I remember writing about this issue long ago, and W3C didn't know about it and had it resolved.

Actually, I do need to repeat the question, until it is solved.

It does not choose a random cap. It seems when you get passed 600 corps that the limit is imposed. So the target is 600. As Im now familiar with programming, all that we see with the statement is it is programmed to display the total amount of corps we have public.

The reason for the seemingly "random" number is that the official count of ECPC (enterprise controlled public corps) does not update until the next game month. SO one player may move 5 corps above 600 hundred, while another may move 20 above 600. Once the game month updates though, neither can build anything, because its above 600. So the cap IS consistent.

What is the difference between a technical limit and an imposed one?

Why is something SO SMALL (this "glitch") taking so loooong to correct? Seeing that they can EASILY change the limits. Either they purposely placed this limit there, or just do not want to deal with something so easy to correct, like the other billion small things they could correct to make the game better, instead of this space crap, and mapped cities. (how can you build more stuff and not fix the small stuff???, but thats an entirely different conversation).

And Laguna, if you are going to give answers, give correct ones.

i agree with Dub, i think we are all being scammed by this game, its not a glitch they put that limit to make us get more enterprises, even though i see the benefit of having multiple enterprises, those greedy ****** ***** game gods,LOL. im sorry please dont kill me.

I don't think this is a glitch. It's been around forever. I recall the ~600 share cap over a year ago. There is a cap on the number of pub corps you can hold shares in just like there is a cap on the number of corps you can hold before bidding on more corps is denied (i.e. the 750 cap).

I think the reason that the target cap "moves" is because you can exceed it between system updates but once the system catches up and notes you to be over the cap it won't allow further share acquisitions.

as with all things SC, who the hell knows, but this is my guess.

If you know what you're doing there is no effective cap on how many corps you can own. ;)

Two rays of sunshine.

The limit for ECPC is actually imposed, the limit for the number of corps we have shares of isn't. I didn't see the connection, since I hit the latter with 700+ corps. This has been around since near the beginning of the Share Market, so I doubt it'll be changed.

Anyway, both of them can be avoided. If you want want to own more shares, turn the ECPC private or lose control; if you want more ECPCs, turn private corps public.

LG

Public shares

I believe it is not a control issue. It's owning shares in around 600 public corporation (Controlling interest or not)...

I have hit this wall many many many times. (Did I say many)

I'm all for increasing the ceiling.

Investment funds also have a ceiling for number of different stocks they can have ownership interest in. (Have hit this wall to...forgot the number)

Quit whining and play the game already. If you want another enterprise, open another up on another world. Solves that.

Wendy you are such an idiot right now...this is right below (now above) the thread where you are whining about the war engine...of course we already knew that when Windy has issues with a very small facet of the game which is easily overcome it is a HUGE issue...but when she has no issue with something that is actually pretty stupid in the game it is meaningless and everyone should stop whining...sigh...such a useless tool you are.
