Sorry for the above, I was on my phone. Im quite busy lately, but Im connecting from my laptop to provide some info.

SCWN 4.0 Will provide a few different things.
All the features available now will be available on SCWN 4.0, but much more fine tuned.

It is called SCWN 4.0 because it will be the 4th time this year, LOL, the site is being made over. This, however, will be the final look of the website. It will include HTML, CSS, for looks, PHP/MySQL for functionality, but now Javascript for usability and flexibility.

This will allow user profiles, preferences, smaller spaces will be allowed to show multiple news events, articles, etc. (frees up space). The navigation in the site will be far easier.

One great improvement will be the way that the news is displayed. When you click on the planets, the site will show you all the news organized like a space newspaper for that world. Then you have the option to view only certain sections etc.

@Scarlet: Yes. The new site will have the war stats tool. It will also have tools for watching the economy without everyone having to download the excel sheets. The war stats tool would have been done already...but its been quite complicated. The script and testing page exists on SCWN already, but its hidden.

@Dave: I will make the classifieds section much better, however, its only ads.The only trading that actually takes place is in Simcountry. The Classifieds helps by telling everyone "Hey, I want this product" etc, like an ad. As for a time...dunno. Designing the site will be a few days, but making it will may be a little more. But Ill keep every posted.

Looks Great!

Another major reason for the change is that when I first launched Simcountry World News, everyone raved about the graphics on the site. When the site was updated to SCWN 2.0 and now 3.0, the graphics were sacrificed for functionality, and without functionality the site is just a great big painting. However, now with the addition of Javascript, I will have a ton more flexibility, and will revamp the site to "LOOK" like a site fit for simcountry!

Thanks everyone for the support.

I have more to say, but I'm in a time crunch. Clients arriving. Ill update this thread every so often.

Can you add city maps and maybe some space trading to your site?

:)

But seriously, you are doing a great job with the site.

Major Update!

SCWN 4.0 is moving along...

Today was the first successful implementation of Javascript, Ajax, PHP, and MySQL working together.

You can see it here
Simcountry 4.0 Page

Scroll to the bottom of the page where you see the red screen. Hover over the stories on the right and watch! Dynamic! Its small now, but with that one step comes some great things!

Thats all. Will keep you posted.

With the implementation of Ajax, Im experimenting with a ton of things (when I get a chance to :( ).

Anywho, Ive revamped the look of the site, and deemed it SCWN 4.1. (4 refers to 4th time ive changed the site, .1 refers to how many times the current design has been changed).

Planet scroller and Login functions are done.

Now working on "planetview" page.
This page will focus on the selected world, and display its news with sleak options that dont require a page change.

KB needs to be a 6 month/day world. And maybe a Caramel Frappachino from McDonald's. Those are a great pick-me-up! :)

Anyways, the only reason I played KB was that it was a 4 month world when the others (but LU) were 3. Now that GR and FB are 4 as well, KB is just the red-headed step-child of the bunch.

MAJOR UPDATE!

I have successfully linked the planets together WITHOUT THE NEED TO RELOAD THE PAGE.

I was actually shooting for a bunch of applications (as I thought it'd be needed) that would update individually when a user clicks the planet they want to view. However, upon construction of my scripts, I tested it, and it updated the information for the entire page without the need of a page reload!

I now am able to duplicate what SC does with the cash market window that loads....and learned by accident!

Woosah!

What am I doing now?
Now, I am updating the page with application-like sections of the news on the planet-view page.

MAJOR UPDATE

The Planet-Focused News theme has been completed on the website.

http://www.simcountryworldnews.com/4_0.php

Home Page:
The Home Page has been simplified for new visitors, and so that everyone knows the purposes/updates of the SCWN website.

Users are already able to Login.

Planet View Page:
The Main differences Ajax in using Ajax throughout the site is the ability to let users choose the news they'd like to see, when they want to see it, instead of putting everything in everyone's faces.

You can see the planetary news (of FB, KB, WG, LU, and GR) by clicking the planet from the homepage.

NEXT STAGE:
Now that the structure of the site and theme of more user-friendly focused news is set, especially the planetary news, the next thing to put into place is the User-Profiles.

1. This will be like Facebook in ease of use.
2. Users will be updated on the actions throughout the site, with the option to dismiss the updates on login.
3. Users will be able to post to every section of the news, not only in uReport (which was previously the case).
4. User accounts will allow for the completion of the Gamer's Guide, which may in fact turn out to be the most important and highly viewed section of the website.

Still working. Check out the planet view page and let me know what you think. For actual news, I think you can play around on the FB page, because it has the most news in the site. That will change however when the site is completed.

P.S. Because users will be able to report to any section of the website and not only to uReport, there will be no "official" reporters. The site will be as open to the SC-Public as possible.

Good Day!

BTW, the WG World War will appear on the site, though not immediately.

User Profile Page on SCWN

Here is what it will look like so far.
Profile Page Preview

Features
1.You will be able to add other users (your SC contacts) so that you see updates on each others pages like Facebook, have group discussions, etc.

2. SCWN 4.1 will allow players to post presidential pictures, as well as images to their uReport articles.

3. You will have to name your news network for uReporting. So if you name it "Uncanny Lies Network" that will be the network representing your country and internal news reports in SCWN about Simcountry events.

Players can manage their uReport articles, and post articles, from the "Propoganda Center".

4. Added Benefit of registering is more organized news posted directly to your wall under "SCWN News" and "uReport", instead of visiting the planetview page.

5. If you notice in the image above, looking at the left, there is a large advertisement asking for players to join an alliance in GR. All registered users in SCWN will be able to create an ad (one campaign at a time) advertising just like real the real world...full advertisements.

This is especially wonderful if you are an CEO/Enterprise owner, you can advertise your corporations and products to the entire Simcountry Community.

Extra Features:
After The Profile Page is done, I will be adding in administrative features that will allow easy management of the site with myself just loging in on SCWN. That will be a small task.

The major task I want to do is the feature I know everyone is waiting for...

The ability to type in a country's name, and have SCWN scan the country newspaper, and organize the amount of weapons, monetary value of weapons, soldiers, number of attacks, etc for the user in an instance.
