I am in WGC, but I prob shouldn't be because I will never be much help in times of war. I don't have the time or inclination. I would have to agree with Maestro2000 that econ players are just a drag on a fed and prob shouldn't be there

I was an econ player without a fed affiliation for a year until I had a sudden 10-day hospitalization and a several week recovery period and came back to ther game after 30 days to find I had been raided and had lost all 8 of my non-main coutries. So what did I do? I gave up some valued independence, agreed to help others who were attacked, and joined the largest fed on White Giant so that I would not be put in that position again. Now I have lost 3 of 5 countries (tho I must admit Lolo has been more than generous in offering to return one of them).
I think the big problem was that the game levels used to require that we build up military in order to reach higher levels. I would generally agree with Joe Green's comments, tho if raiders are out there, it will be hard for newer players to be become competitive.

I'm an econ only player @ level 11 on WG.

I do not use a federaton for protection. To serve as my meat shield. To serve as my mercenary army. I use WP and remain independent in this game.

Any new player can build up a massive single country on 4 worlds before having to set foot into the war world. Yes, every world is a war world. New player can receive a ton of advice from many players in the game without joining a federation. (Board, chat room, player web pages)

An econ player can build a military and fight also. Plus, there are other strategies.

A econ player can join a fed, but once he does, he needs to build some offensive and defensive capabilities. If someone can't fight a war and doesn't plan on developing the ability, he shouldn't be allowed to remain in a federation.

The first rule of a federation is to defend your allies if they are attacked. If you can't do this and don't plan to, you aren't keeping your side of the bargan and are a free-rider.

Federations also are used to defend econ players who are just starting out. Feds will nuture new players and help them learn the game, not necessarily the war part of it.

If a player doesnt want to join a fed, stay in wp or take your chances.
If a player wants to join a fed, he will enjoy protection and the knowledge from experienced players on all aspects of the game.

Also, people need to socialize with other players and make friends. Being friends with alot of people will help prevent that person from being raided.
