That's the question. Is there any way to make money on a country stock portfolio? What does it contribute to the country's bottom line? What is the result of selling it all or building it up?

In theory, it eventually boosts the taxes on the populace since the "profit per worker" goes up. How much this needs to go up to be obvious, no idea.

If you grow your corporations enough, and have multiple countries, then you can use that cash to buy shares in your own public corporations. That essentially, indirectly, frees up cash for your countries, which you can directly control. If you have an enterprise with public corporations, you could do the same thing.

In all cases, private investment funds are only allowed to buy shares in corporations outside their country, but if a corporation relocates, they sometimes end up (intentionally or unintentionally) controlling shares in corporations in their own country.

The general benefit probably connects to several indexes and monthly cost items (see: Financial Statement: Profit & Loss - This Month). But, that is speculation, based on observation and some miscellaneous news items; someone who actually knows, like maybe Jozzi or Tommi, should be able to answer in detail.

There should be another Jozzi chat coming up, so maybe you or someone else could find out more details from there.

The dividend actually is in two parts: Country-owned shares (goes to country cash), itemized as Dividend as mentioned before, and the "Private Investments", or investment fund, which also has a Dividend item, but goes to the fund cash, not Country cash.

This country has no Country-owned shares, and has $SC 0 for the country Dividend payment, for example.

On the other hand, here is the example for the one that was being questioned originally.

reference:

{tab Finance > financial statement)

Private Investments

Cash Private Investments Funds
1,919.70B SC$

New Contributions by the Population
5,313.29M SC$

Profit from Private Investments this Month (Interest)
1,439.79M SC$

Dividend ...
228.58M SC$

Still, to access that cash, you would need to buy shares in a public corporation, and either control that corporation or have some arrangement with the controlling party.

Income from dividend is the cash from the shares in a public corporation owned by either the country or an enterprise, not the country's Investment fund.

honestly, the country and IF stock adds a huge part of the fun of the game for me. its one of my favorite things.

you can make a ton of money using them, i think it'd be really cool if they improved the interface. not entirely sure how they could though.
