Can anyone take a look at your financial statement and let me know if your transportation costs are abnormally high or rising without cause. I have an index of around 280 - 300 for transportation.

And can you check the same for Government costs.

I have an average country cost of about 200B and it just seems like it wont go down. I had more than 20 countries and it wasn't this bad. I have 14 now so it shouldn't be this serious.

Wendy, i've never understood how to manipulate these costs. if you figure it out let me know. the only thing i can figure is to lower transportation index, etc. i haven't tried it though.

See I knew something was wrong.

Inannas Temple 267 Transportation Index Cost 26.1B

Balrog, 198 Transportation Index. Cost 71.2B

That is a big difference. Doesn't make much sense.

isn't there something about having more than 10 countries that will drive up your gov't cost. it used to be that way. you also used to have terriorist raids when you had over ten countries.

The more countries you have the higher the related gov costs will rise.

i have 6 countries on WG with a trans ind of 280 with costs of 34B.

on GR i have a main only with high trans ind but with only 14B costs

answer....tank 3 or 4 oil corps to reduce sal avg, then u can reduce gov sals :)

As it does not employ any workers, Transportation cost is ONLY determined by the price of Road/Rail/Water maintenance. With the increase in the size of corporations, the price of each unit of product is increasing with no change in the consumption rate of each product... thus, higher Transportation costs. If you aren't buying 100 Q of these products (for whatever reason) that might explain it also.

This part is unproven, but my guess is government costs are similarly determined by product consumption (in addition to employee salaries) as a proportion of government facilities... so the same phenomena might help explain it. Honestly, I would be surprised if the cost was not tied solely to products or salaries since it does with everything else. If you're curious, I encourage you to do some research.

As far as high Trans indexes, I just don't get why you folks do it.

because I assume it affects score. Why I haven't ever bothered to find out for myself in 6 years is a good question but I haven't and likely never will.

scarlet is right.

Transportation cost has nothinbg to do with the number of countries in the empire.
Government cost does.

High cost of transportation has to do with:
1. the level. cost grows with the indexes.
2. the cost of the road maintenance products, water treatment maintenance etc.
The price of these products depends on the market and the quality you purchase.

at this moment, buying these products at a high quality does not make sense.
purchase them at Q 100 and the cost will probably decrease. It may take time as you have some stock at a certain quality.
buying a lot at Q100 will pul the average cost down.

Ah, nice suggestion Blue. Yeah, I only used it for score when I was making a run for a 1st place.

@Aaron, my pop is/was about 74 million at the time.

I know there are some of my own contributing factors, but I have had large empires almost the entire time I've played the game and never run into Govt costs that high, even with 28 countries. But I am fixing things now. This happened most likely because I have neglected my countries for some time now. Been busy, lol.
