When I was younger my brother and I made up a country each and with our plastic soldiers, toy tanks and elastic bands (ammo) we carved up boarders across the expanses of our bedroom from the towering hieghts of "bunk bed" mountain to the lengthy waste lands of "red carpet that mum does not want damaged by fire bombs" (lighter fuel refuels cause massive damage to plastic soldeirs, we played for keeps).

So, that was the 1980's, yeah I'm old and long before puters became main stream, my point? Well here it is... simcountry.com

So to express my excitement and gratitude to the game master, as i'm skint, i have made a little adventure which is in part a journey back to 1982 "the battle of warddrobe hill", and hopfully at least advertise the game some more.

As kids, my brother and I dug out Dad's WWII era board game called Blockade. You each have an island nation on this big map, and need to keep supplying yourself from the mainland with food, metal, oil, and arms reserves. Meanwhile you try to block your opponent from doing the same. You had airplanes (expensive), subs and warships, and cargo ships. It was all about waging war while maintaining your economy.

We started making our own maps on construction paper, and planning more elaborate games. More products, companies, populations. It got complicated and we dropped it. Years later when PCs came out I thought it would be cool to have two PCs connected and play our map game, in real time.

So for me simcountry is the manifestation of a childhood dream game, on steroids. Only they still don't have the war part right:)

Hello Celx, but yes when I was a child I'd set up my soldiers in my yard and dig in some small trenches and place my men into them. While they were in place and facing eachother I would take my bb gun and shoot at the soldiers to make it feel more realistic. Your probably thinking, "why waste a perfect set of toy soldiers?" Well I had so many of them when I was younger and I got older not needing them anymore. So I had fun with them while disposing of them. Years later I started craving for war games and found Simcountry. Thanks for reading. :)
