I'm curious as to your feelings on establishing a strong community website for presidents and CEOs to interact over, as well as provide a comprehensive database of Simcountry statistics and guides. I know that Simcountry provides these forums and other forms of player communication, but I doubt I am the only one who feels a little too alone in such a populated game world.

Some ideas that first came to mind included a Facebook application and custom country profiles. If it can be made practical, an eBay-like auction system for contracts/products came to mind as well. I like the idea of phasing out so much player automation and making it worth a players time to take the initiative and go find the best deals.

I refer you all to the original post that inspired me here:

I posted some more details in there as well. Sorry to technically spam, but I felt it was necessary to bring it up in the general forum. I encourage anybody who would like to contribute or help work on the website to e-mail me at jackerman91@gmail.com.

Simcountry had a site once..(well probably 5 times) same person ran it, kept giving up on it. Sure, its a great concept, but it is an overwhelming amount of work for someone to take upon themselves, I'm unsure if you are a returning Vet or a new player, if you are a new player, It's a great ambition! but certainly your game time could be spent alot better!

I'm a returning player. I played SC for a while when I was younger. I'm majoring in political science now, so I've taken a much greater interest in the game than I ever did in the past.

I am confident that I can program a self-sufficient, interactive website that could survive unremittingly with little to no maintenance. It is a matter of public opinion as to whether or not I will take the time to do this or not. The content management script I already wrote is for one of my clubs at college, so it is already designed to be easily managed and adjusted by future generations.

One idea I really is possibly establishing a database of custom country profiles. In the profiles countries may pass legislation, so you could expand on the country's philosophy and background. People could possibly choose their stance on a number of issues such as drug use, illegal immigration, gay marriage, and possibly even choose a combination of factors in the country's criminal justice system, which could maybe even calculate crime rates. Obviously all these things are irrelevant in the game Simcountry itself, so there wouldn't be issues pertaining to relevant things (such as health care, social security, and defense). This idea itself could evolve into so much more.

Yeah, I'm thinking big right now. We'll see where this goes.

There isn't enough action to create a content to entertain. And, this is the worse bit, there isn't enough diversity of action to draw interest. The lack of the diversity comes from the focus of the game on it's technical side. It completely ignores politics and social relations.

But if you want a SC news site, ask Genie for some help. He dwells on SC's IRC channel. The link is on the Wiki's header.

I wouldn't mind seeing something like this, but honestly, I probably would be interested for a short while and forget about it . . . like my Empire's entry on the Simcountry Wikia.
