In light of the recent changes to c3s war levels, weapon quality upgrades, among others, it appears to be a decent amount of changes geared to consolidating the advantages of gang style players against even weaker or outnumbered opponents.

Game news is/was interesting today.

I'll note some recent game news directed towards a conflict ongoing on LU. This player that I have engaged has many times taken part in n00b bashing, gang style asset raids and the like. Yet despite his proven war capabilities, the gamemaster decided to post in the news the reason that nukes were going through to hit targets despite defense present. It is amazing how many problems in the problems section have been completely ignored on this forum by players like myself and others. But, when Budman gets nuked a few times this comes out in the game news.}

9. Weapons and Ammunition Quality and Nuclear defense

The quality of weapons and ammunition has a major effects on the results of wars. Attacks can be much more successful if the quality of the attacking units is higher. Increasing the quality of military units will increase their capabilities and a smaller number will be sufficient.

The quality extends to all types of weapons, including nuclear weapons that will be more effective if their quality is higher.

The same is true for the defense. A high quality defensive unit or a garrison, will fight harder and create more damage to the attacker. Upgrading defense units will make your defense much stronger and also in this case, a smaller number of units may be sufficient to defend your country.

The quality of the defense includes the nuclear defense weapons. The quality of a nuclear defense garrison should be high or otherwise, the nuclear defense will not be a 100% guarantee against a nuclear attack.

If the quality of the nuclear attack weapons is higher than the quality of the nuclear defense weapons, the defense quality will decline. If the defense has a quality of 80 and the attacking weapons have a quality of 160, then 50% of the attacks will come through.

We have recently seen a war where 1 in 4 or 5 attacking nukes penetrated the defenses because the quality of the defensive nuclear missiles was too low.

Please check the quality of your defense, and especially the nuclear defense and make sure it is sufficient. The quality of nuclear attack weapons cannot exceed 200 but quality limits will be increased in the future.

Both the quality of weapons and ammunition are essential. The quality of the weapons increases the chance that the weapons will hit its target and the damage it can cause to the target. The quality of the ammunition has an additional influence and also increases the range of the weapons. In the case of nuclear weapons, range is not an issue as their range is sufficient.

I also took note that one day Budman entered chat, and mentioned how he could not take a c3 with no paint, as it was before war levels were introduced. I never intended to attack Budman. But, I kept this in mind. I also noted how despite having more than 25- 35 mil pop countries, these players were taking my countries without paint, I found it interesting that it was possible although you could not conquer a c3 with 11 million in pop without paint.

So Budman approached me with an offer to jointly attack a member of his federation on WG, that I felt was a trap, or a way for he and his group to think they were cleverly walking me into wasting a bunch of assets. Noting the difficulty and tediousness of the task, I declined. I also asked him recently why he and free nations members attacked Kitsune on LU. He noted that it was just a war game, but Kitsune placed some very enlightening names on his/her countries that insisted otherwise. "Very angry bored space monkey" and "Greed is a Sin" I also recalled in very recent conversations less than 1 month ago budman recalling how me carpet nuking him for taking an inactive fed members country while backed by his own federation, 'was fun", "enlightening" and "Motivated him to build better defenses".

So, I ended up attacking budman, thinking he was trying to trap me in a pointless asset wasting war, and recalling him and his fed members attacking gang-style yet another single player, and noting a recent statement made by slade suggesting he and budman never wanted peace despite Wildeyes prompting him to move towards a peaceful resolution.

You see these people use the advantages left to them by the gamemasters. Inadvertently left or not. They portray account management as an excuse for logging in for each other to complete war. They bunch up together in order to gain an advantage against most often a single player or two. They exploit the glitchy/buggy war engine to rebuild caps and cities when they need it or to gain an advantage. They used to have a method of looking at garrison defenses to look at nuclear defenses of targets that would otherwise be secret, and I could go on and on and on.

But right when this particular group of players get rubbed the wrong way the changes come. It is kinda mind frakking when you think about it.

I mean in my own mind, there has been a long list of changes directed at hindering me in my own style of taking advantages and using my brain to confront mine enemies in battle, while giving an advantage to those you know use every conceivable and inconceivable advantage they find as well.

I was sneak attacked a lot when I first came into the game. I then went on a sneak attack rampage, whiners whined, you changed that.

Players used gang style tactics to take a few decent countries away from me, so I stopped giving assets to the wind and revolutionized my own style of c3 warfare. You have made changes to that aspect as well. You cannot win a war against c3s without painting now. Making long distance war near impossible with the non functional buggy air transport features.

Most notable are the war levels which immediately were introduced following the last major asset raid in simcountry on WG. Now these players, can recruit low level players or possibly their own multi accounts and remain in a federation while at level 0, yet participate in air defense. Unbelievable. Making a counter strike near impossible. Note Keto, Insane Asylum, level 6 or 8 situated right next to Wildeyes at level 3 with a massive amount of air defense in a cluster of countries. Note Zentrino, of (free nations or some other federation) situated next to other members of free nations in a cluster of countries at level 0 with a considerable amount of replenish-able air defense units that cannot be directly attacked.

Now the war with Budman, I used every known advantage I had. I used high quality nuclear weapons to depop his country of army staff. I used a sizable 33 million pop country at the time the war commenced, but outside of range of landing or ground forces. I purposefully took other positions on the map and used these countries to hold the countries from going into war protection in order to adjust my planning as the situation changed on the ground.

The war went as follows, I nuked budman several times, I then began expanding on my targets and landed a noticeable and damaging amount of nukes. He responded by taking close c3s within landing and ground units range as they were a threat. Which was already calculated from my end. But the real objective was to soften him up with nukes. I allowed him to go after the c3s. He nuked the distance country for lack of a better response. However he never really attempted to 'take' the country. Somewhere along the line he decided he had enough of the nukes and began destroying targets and forts with the hopes of taking the war index to 0 and stopping the war. The war index stopped at 10 however because by that time he had nuked the country to c3 pop levels and the war engine was treating it as a c3 and not a 25+ mil pop country which is conquerable without pain for some unknown reason. This became a problem. By then Budman enlisted some help from ZrapidPace another free nation member, I just nuked him since he was not ready but declared with an unprepared country, I asked him to stay out of it though, he declined.

So, in the game news, we have a notice of exactly why Budman was nuked. I found the timing of this release non coincidental to say the least. I didn't take much offense to it though. I then went on to read other bits of game news and this is what kinda ticks me off. Not because it will hinder me, I have already figured a brilliant way to use these changes as well, but I was annoyed because it seems to have been done in response to an ongoing conflict and doesn't go over well when it appears to be a direct intervention intended to give an asshat gang bang player an obvious or perceived advantage. This is kinda wrong because changes don't come about because of practical issues but rather when this particular band of players gets together and makes a fuss when things don't go their way, even in the face of changes they are currently exploiting, and/or have entrenched their recent conquests from recapture.

This was interesting

6. The Range of Nuclear Weapons

The range of some nuclear weapons is reduced to 10.000. The range of most weapons is lower but strategic bombers and nuclear missiles had a high range which allowed them to reach any point on any of the worlds.

Even 10.000 is a very generous range that will allow such weapons to cover most of the continents around them.

So, the range of nuclear weapons is changed, Hmmmm I wonder why.

Also...

7. The Range of Transport Aircraft in the Army

The range of the transport aircraft in the army is now increased to 10.000. The range was 3.000 and required multiple landings and complex logistics in case the target country distance from the attacking country was longer than 3.000.

The increased range is voted for and requested before and we hope, with this change to have reduced the complexity of the long distance war process.

The new range will allow countries to land forces in any country that is attacking them from a long distance, especially with nuclear weapons and fight a land war to stop such attacks.

This directly coincides with the changes to the range on nukes. It even goes on to specifically highlight the situation that budman finds himself in. However, the stated reason doesn't add up. Budman can in fact commit to a ground war against that country. He can take c3s 2900km from each other and land the forces and airlift ground units to a position he can attack from. But the damn thing doesn't always do what it is supposed to. Plus at level 3 that would be annoying. It was a 'great idea' when it was intended to stop me for example to committing to a c3 war. The air transport or airlifts of ground units has been problematic for months, unexplained and unaddressed by anyone with a clue as to why. However, right on time, as soon as this isn't practical for one of these players, BAM, it gets changed. Tsk, tsk.

Now I could keep going, but without typing a conspiracy novel here, I just have to wonder how much more babying will these grown azz men become accustomed to. Why the special treatment and ignoring of all else that ails simcountry. Surely these players can handle themselves and have proven it time and time again with the mile long scrolls of their mighty conquests, why do they need every conceivable change to give them any kind of advantage?

I guess beyond this question that I am sure won't be answered in a genuine manner anyway, the message here for you all that have done some damage to someone and have it coming is:

These changes won't change anything for you at least. One thing I don't do is forget. I have forgiven Budman many times over for the disrespect he showed me by attacking an inactive fed member despite my hospitality in not taking him building up on my borders as a threat. I nuked him, I destroyed much more than he ever gained by choosing to do what he did. I let it go, but I didn't forget. I also remember slade saying they didn't want peace. I will always remember what happened when I first came into the game. How I was mistreated, rightfully so in some cases but certainly not in others. I will always remember what happened on Golden Rainbow, to John L, the betrayals by his own fed, the raiding of Jack Jones who was attacked by more than a single player from one account, and that he left the game or changed his identity in response to those wrongs. I will always remember how although DTA fought you guys with greatly valued and asset worthy countries you terds accused them of multi play for challenging you. I will remember how certain people plotted on alarich, the allies he thought he had who abandoned him and possibly conspired to abandon him in advance, how people tricked him whom he entrusted with his security and betrayed his trust. I forgive each and every one of you involved. I will never forget however.

There will be a day of reckoning regardless of the changes I have said this before and I intend to follow through with every gold coin and sim dollar in my account. These things take time especially when there are so many of you. These bright ideas you conjure up to give you what you think are adequate protections will come back to bite you in the ass. I welcome the changes and invite more. As many as one could think of. I will exploit them all to the best of my abilities to mete out a proper revenge to all of you. This is the nature of the game and it is what makes it interesting. Then constant intervention and meddling by the gms only gives rise to the doubts of a real intent for true competition and player ingenuity to overcome any other player. It is disingenuous to put off an aura of neutrality and then step in at the most convenient moment for those who have grouped together to dominate this game. Nevertheless, all of you will face your karma one way or another. GM please let the players play.

wow, and i thought all the changes, except for the nuke range, where in your favor. considering that your main weapon is nukes, and fully upgrading all gars is more than difficult.

i mean you didn't even mention the space center thing... which doesn't favor the IA crew and allies. please don't get me wrong, i'm not complaining about that adjustment, just pointing out the fact that one of my countries went up by about 5M army over night... (luckly, i was semi ready for this,)

not having read every line, i will agree with one statement

"GM please let the players play." -Wendy

Without exploits or hidden features, the more numerous side is generally favored to win.
