Who would like to see more/less blackout hours?

For the players that have a job or go to school, who would like to see the blackout hours increased Monday thru Friday to 16 hours a day?

Sleep = 8 hours a day
Work = 8 hours a day

Seems rather reasonable.

I'd like to see a world added with the following:

a) 3 months per real day:
b) The game clock based on the United States Eastern time zone

The three game months will be as follows:
0:00AM to 9:00AM = month 1
9:00AM to 6:00PM = month 2
6:00PM to 12:00AM = Month 3

Month#1 and #2 are blackout months
Month #3 is the only month for WAR.

You: 16 hours
Them: 16 hours

If only 8 hours are different, war is impossible. We have War Protection, Secured Mode, War Levels. Further, it's not the end of the world if you lose country . . .

Under the current system, it's possible for there to only be an 8 hour window for fighting anyway if the blackout periods are at different times.

I don't see how any suggestions for changes to any part of the war game can be taken seriously from a player who intends to stay at war level 0 indefinitely. With your intentions in mind Maestro, clearly you don't play the war game so 'what you would like to see' is obviously self serving, all about you and not about improving the game in any way.

I also find the suggestion that times should be based on Eastern Seaboard US ridiculous. Granted, a lot of Yanks play this game, but there are other nations in the world. What would be better is an option in the settings menu to set your account time to x or y timezone - that way you could have your Eastern US timezone and I could have Australian Eastern Standard Time.

If all people are playing the full game at the same time (6PM to Midnight) don't you think the game would be better off.

If I were a war player, wouldn't it be nice to know all my fedmates and enemies are playing the game at the same time?

So why bash the suggestion because it's me? Debate it, discuss it.

What do I get out of it? I get to talk to more people when I'm playing. Is that so wrong? Worlds based on different time zones would be a plus for the game.

Also, Maestro, your suggestion is ridiculous. Someone from Australia (like me) would have to get on SimCountry at 6AM or earlier for war. For some people, your time slot for war would fall into the 1AM to 7AM timeslot. It's absolutely inconsiderate to all non-Americans.

And consider this: the game's creators are, what, Scandinavian? That means it's more likely that they'd set their worlds by their timezone, meaning that *you'd* be the one having to get up at 1AM to fight. I don't think you'd like that.

Of course, you will reply that you can simply divide servers by timezone. Little Upsilon could be Eastern Seaboard US, while Golden Rainbow could be on GMT. This is also a silly idea. The majority of players are probably American, which means that LU would be the only populated server. Scarlet, Wendy, you, Laguna, etc, would be duking it out on LU while players in Oceania or Asia like me would be fighting a couple of other players for domination of an entire world. Now *that* is pointless.

TL;DR: the US isn't the only nation in this world, and Australians deserve sleep too.

Accordion,

I'm asking for one new world for people that live in the United States, eastern time zone.

I don't propose changing the existing worlds.

Sorry if that doesn't include you.

Perhaps if this new world proves to be sucessful, simcountry can add more new worlds based on time zones other than their own.

One new world for people that live in the US is still unfair to those of us that live in other countries. It would be a server essentially restricted to US citizens, since it would be impossible for me (and others) to consistently fight wars in the wee hours of the morn.

To be honest, I think there's no problem with the system as it is now. I think that restricting a server to citizens of one country or another is unfair because, well, it just is. Is there any need for such a server anyway?

lol, Blue.

Maestro I am staying on point.

You are suggesting something be created to benefit you and you alone. You need to have realistic expectations. Make a world for 'me' isn't realistic. But you never know, you may want to drop 100K - 200K and get some vip treatment. I don't see you contributing that much cash to evolve the game to 'your' liking.

About staying on point though I agree with you, so I'll say my piece once again.

You don't play the war game, why are you suggesting an entire world be made just so you can pretend you want to war, because ultimately even if they made this new world you wouldn't fight in it anyway.

Being realistic, if you want to play war, move to level 3 or higher and drop war protection. You can choose to declare on anyone to suit your time frame. Don't beg anyone to turn the servers upside down when all you pretend to want is available to you already.

I don't see anywhere in your original post about a new 'world' at all, Only proposed changes to what is already in place. You moved to that eventually, but that wasn't your original intent. Despite saying over and over that you don't want to play the war game, I cannot count on two hands how many times you have proposed changes to the war game or tried to influence serious conversations about it.

Problem: Econ is now boring Maestro. So he wants to play war. But only if a world is setup so that it will support him.

Solution: Maestro can move up to level 3 or greater and keep war protection on until you can time your war decs to coincide with your time to play.

Case closed.

Maestro2000 (Golden Rainbow)

No Wendy, not changing anytime soon.

Whats so terrible about having a world setup where people can make econ decisions 24 hours a day and for those interested war decisions 6 hours a day.

The key here is everyone is on the same page for their war decisions. (A fixed time period every day, 7 days a week)

Name one world in Simcountry with enough war players? Name one world in Simcountry with enough players? None and None.

Maestro, you aren't helping to curb the decline. If anything you are boring people to death with all of this hollow conversation.

In theory your idea would be so cool(for you). But your expectations aren't close enough to reality for me to sign on. Not one person other than yourself is for your idea for starters.

Then a while back a large majority of players wanted a battle royale world that would allow for the settling of grudge matches. It was passed and promised after some deliberation. I haven't heard about it since then. A loooooong time ago.

Name a world with enough active federations. Should we create a world that forces players upon registration to a certain allegiance in order to fix that?

Look at all the shortages in the market, Should we create a world where there are never any shortages?

I'll leave you with this.

"Whats so terrible about having a world setup where people can make econ decisions 24 hours a day and for those interested war decisions 6 hours a day."

Well, truth be told that is a very good point. Now I'll make mine. There are already 5 worlds currently running 24 hours a day where a president can make war or economic decisions for any amount of the day he/she chooses.

What you request is already available. This keeps revolving back to you getting a setup catered to what you feel comfortable with.

Is there a technical reason Simcountry could not add a new world with the spec's I suggested?

Psycho_Honey (Little Upsilon)

Sunday, March 27, 2011 - 09:28 pm Click here to edit this post
Yes. They would like every time someone suggests a new world to forward them the new server, outsource the programming, and your name and mail so they can know who to forward the bug emails to.

Other than that, probably nothing holding them back. So, can we count on you?

Better question. Is there any practical reason for simcountry to add a new world as the 5 that already function are not anywhere near capacity?

Even still a better question. Is simcountry or any of the previous versions open source code yet? I think this is version 4 or 5.

If this were open source, Maestro could hook us up with a new shiny world and see how many flock to or from it. That would be awesome.

Can you get some new songs on your play list Maestro? I want all the artists and songs I like, I dont care if anyone else likes it. While your at it, you need a better tweeter, oh, and can you change the lights? the strobe is a bit dull, starlight lasers would be good too... And I dont always like your shirts, you need to let me OK them first.

Is there any reason why you could not do that?

\me crosses NY bagels off of his shopping list.

I adore a good bagel myself and have found a couple of good authentic Jewish deli's in my time. Not too keen on lox as a filling though.
