Hi all folks,

Just wondering if anyone knows the reason for me losing 2000 population per month from my country?

I currently have 131,198,419 population in my country with welfare hitting 125 (and increasing).

My employment is 97.

I don't see where i'm going wrong and as such, why i'm losing so many people instead of gaining that amount.

Any help would be deeply grateful.

There is a in built population limit after you go above the limit your population declines till it is at the limit again. Last I heard the limit was fifty million. It is to stop single countries having billions of people and thousands of corps.

Population does not automatically decline anymore.

For a start 2,000 is absolutely nothing.

I have over 240m pop in my main, and it's still rising.

You need to investigate. The most important issue is to check that your 0-4 age group is holding steady.

The drop is probably in the older age groups. It is likely to soon turn around and you'll seen an increase in oldies as well.

When you go these high pops, the 0-4 age group will no longer rise, it will remain constant with the increase in in acquired pop.

The rest depends on the health index.

Welfare and employment do not have any impact on the death of your pop.

Oh and did I do birth math wrong? It says

on the population page...

David Walker is right. 2000 is nothing and lots of things could explain that. You may have had a small population bubble from buying several million people at once. It works itself out though. My 24-30 age group has 12M people while every age group under that has 5-6M people and the ones older than it have 5-9M people. This is because at some point, I had purchased several million people in one month. They get distributed through age groups but you still end up with a "bubble." When that group hits old age in my country, I will probably see some small declines in population as they die but it works out.

The birth and death numbers don't matter. For instance, my main has 125M and grew by 38,000 last month. But, it says I had 159k births and 1.8M deaths. My 0-4 line holds steady if I click on the icon beside it though. This is important thing to check as David pointed to.

And, contrary to what some shoot for, I do not seek a high health index. IMO, a high health index leads to old age, which costs a lot in social security, especially for a high population country. Mine HI is 114 and my average life expectancy is 62. It could use to be a little higher probably but I would not want a 150 HI and life expectancy of 70 or more. Just my thoughts on that.

No, actually, David and I both gave reasons for this happening. Of course we cannot be certain because we do not have the data from your country. You, however, can check for yourself. The things you named (welfare, employment, birth/deaths) are not the things you should be looking at. Check these:

1. 0-4 age group and click on the icon to see if it is stable.
2. A bubble in older age groups (probably at, near, or past your life expectancy)
3. Your health index and life expectancy.

0-4 age is stable. Hardly moving.
Life expect - 62. Spike appears round 65 - 70.

regardless of the acutal outcome of high population countries. you can't explain or reason for the increase vs death rate/birth rate.

I believe it works like this:

The algorithms were put in-place long ago to ensure that, once a country reaches approximately 60M+ population, death rate exceeds birth rate. This was done to ensure that no countries got too big.

Recently the GMs took the decision that such a limitation was no longer necessary, but instead of changing the birth / death algorithm, they implemented a 'fix' that tops up the number of 0-4 year-olds to stop the population shrinkage. Thus it does not feature on the birth / death statistics.

However, there is another complication around Health Index and retirement bubbles which also affects the figures. As your Health Index increases, people live longer, and you have more retired people. The death rate then increases, as these people have to die eventually, so the birth / death fix also increases the number of 0-4 year-olds to compensate.

I have no figures to back this up, just years of experience and gut instinct. If anyone can provide a more accurate explanation, please do so.

Population growth was originally unlimited. However, it was very, very, very, very, very slow. That all changed, plus of bit of this and that and some more. And no nobody asked "Where are my peons!?!" again.

But a cap should be put in place, for the same reason one was put in four years ago. Balance the game. Either that or screw with the active population ratio. It is twice the evil and thrice the laughs.

my pop has been dropping for months. i go with the theory that they limit the top pop and will begin to lower it every month.

There's currently no limit. My pop is currently the largest and it is still growing but only by younger pop moving into older pop age groups and the 0-4 agre group holding steady. It's now almost 243m.

Correct David. No limit.
natural death numbers in all age groups can create small reductions. these are negligent in the lower age groups and increase with age.
Declines are very small compared to the past.

selling population wrecks the age groups and causes long term declines that are larger and will linger for weeks. The population is sold mainly from the critical age groups for population growth and birth rates decline.

purchasing population creates a new stable level with very small declines.

if your population declines fast, you have either sold some of your population recently or your population is migrating for better future elsewhere. bad healthcare also helps the decline.

Also on the game news, old item, # 183,184 etc.
search for population.
