I was doing the sums today and found out there is no way the world bank makes as much profit in the form of interest on loans lent to countries/enterprises/corporations as it pays out in interest to countries private investment and pension funds.

For instance the standard lending interest rate is 12% per real year, which is 0.06% per game year (on a planet with 6 turns per day), Where as the interest payments to private investment funds and pension funds are 0.50% and 0.04% respectively per game year, now if they lent out all the money that was deposited in their fund they may just be able to brake even, after all 0.06% is higher than 0.04% and the world bank can lend at higher rates as well like 15% per real year which is 0.08% per game year (six turn world). However the world bank lends hardly any of its money, most loans are player to player, and on top of this when loans go bad regardless of who lent the money the world bank picks up the bill. So the only way it would be able to keep paying out the interest payments to private investment funds and pension funds is to use the new contributions to those funds to pay out the interest on the old deposits.
That is a Ponzi Scheme like the one Bernard Madoff operated in the US. Now this in itself is not a problem. However people are under the impression that their nations have huge sums of money invested in those private investment accounts and pension funds in there nations, but that money has ultimately already been paid out and doesn’t exist anymore. The Private Investment funds and pension funds in our nations have no where near the amount of money we think they do.

Does anyone else have any views on this?

The only interest paid in the game is on loans and all loans are always paid back.

world bank loans are 15% all player to player loans are 12%.

the world bank give loans only if all player to player offers are exhausted.

This is how it works. Funds of any kind are not relevant to this and are not involved.

Would be nice if at least some of the profit from investment funds could be put to country use. Like even 5% of the profit. Might make the stock market more robust.

You know what would be nice is since IPO are hard to come by as is. 370Q not enough say that beside owning less then 25% but if a player owned 25% and there where at least 10investors with 5% each then they get a production boost? Something to help IPO out since they kinda getting left in the dust
