I've been saying this for the longest time. There is no fixed costs for health, education, and military. When profits go down the costs go up. Its been doing this for the last 5 rl months. No one has said anything but me. I'm glad someone else noticed it.

I have

Q effects costs.
Higher Q goods increase the costs. Thats why the GM needs to fix it

Ill get money on it.

See the issue with going form 100Q--->120Q is the price increase.

Look @ roads its based on the cost of maintance/salaries

If you need 100roads main @ $100 per unit(100Q) it comes to $10,000 in just materials
If you do buy 120Q your prices jump 20%. Now your paying 12,000K

I got a nation using 25K maintance miles on roads(cost 40K per mile)
25K * 40K * 1.00(simulate Q) = 1B
25K * 40K * 1.20(simulate Q) = 1.2B
Plus you gotta factor in salaries ECT. Keep in mind this is a 13M C3 nation im using the more the pop the more drastic the effects.

The more items use the more damage so to speak becuase your paying more OVERALL.

Elementry school
Services (per year) 2250 units per year
Books etc. 420 units per year
Other products 210 units per year

High School
Services (per year) 2310 units per year
Books etc. 420 units per year
Other products 210 units per year

Universities University
Services (per year) 42000 units per year
High-tech services 7800 units per year
Books etc. 21000 units per year
Other products 7200 units per year

Higher the Q means you pay more of all of it...With no added benift. The benift must be more widespeard if the GM wants use to double/triple i costs. A 5point Welfare increase is not enough.

In short im sure thats one reason all prices are rising. Keep Q low and put away anything your not using to prevent spending extra bills

If you purchase low quality products the cost will decline.
it does take some time however. you may have these products in stock and new purchases quality get averaged with the stock you have.

several days later however, it should make a difference.

What was the point of going 100Q---->120Q anyway? It might have been discussed elsewhere but I can't recall seeing a reason why...

Probably a good decision all in all. Most seasoned players seem to content themselves bean counting and the levels of GC and cash in DT accounts must be amazing going by the few I know who declare what they have. If this knocks out 20% of the cash/GC float thats probably a good thing.

@ Parsifal. (Ironic sarcasm alert: warning==>)Yep, that's what we do in real life, after all; nuke south central chicago and the upper east side of new york, plus a couple heaved at L.A. just on principal, to reduce the number of schools. It happens all the time, just read history. We always deal with it this way in real life. Sarcasm not aimed at you or any other player.

I found my general government costs just spiked by 1 billion about 3 months ago and another billion last month, from a very steady 5.4 billion before then. Similarly my enterprise income dropped from 13 billion to 10 in one month. Overall I went from a 15-17 billion/month profit to 7 in just 3 months. I don't see any indication as to why any of this happened.

You probably bought higher quality products.

the cost is changing all the time, depending mainly on the average quality of the products used and also on government salaries.

I'll see if ordering 120 quality products in trade strategies makes a difference, but what's the point of having countries buy high quality products if they don't do anything but cost 3x more?

In the meantime I've had my costs go up by over 15 billion/month now. It's getting pretty ridiculous.

It does a lot.

ordering higher quality products increases your cost but also increases the welfare index and this will increase the production level in your corporations.

Andy, I too have experienced declines in profitability and my Financial Index.

Also, however, a strange occurence has appeared in my country. At 83% Unemployment, there are no less than 17 corps with less than 100% employment, out of 59 corps. Its funny- previously, only 2 corps or so had anything less than 100% hiring. Whats up with that? Is this a glitch? Only ONE of my professions are experiencing shortages right now... Why aren't my corps hiring anyone? Infact, why are they shedding jobs?

Possible Reasons:

>Aging Population: Shouldn't be- I barely add/buy pop.

>Glitch: I reckon so...

>Shortages of workers: Only senior managers experiencing any large shortage- could this be the reason? I DOUBLED the Edu. Priority on this group 5 (real) days ago.

Any other ideas/thoughts/reasons why this may be happening?

Cheers,
T

Tom, if you don't have enough HLMs then your corp won't hire the staff that are managed by them either. Imagine all those workers running riot on the factory floor with no manager to make sure they are clocking-in on time and meeting their production targets!

In other words, if you are short of one profession, all the other professions and workers also won't be hired by the same proportion.

Hugs and respect

Jo
