1. Maps - Initial release

A first version of the new maps is installed today on Kebir Blue.
There are now better maps of all countries with the possibility to zoom in and out and view your country, its neighbors. The world map, continents and regions are also improved.

There are some open issues concerning the maps, mainly performance issues in a running world. This is why the maps are now installed on Kebir Blue only. Also the default size of the map may be wrong and a very large map may show when a smaller map that fits the screen should have been used.

Following some performance testing, and after fixing minor problems, we will hopefully move to install the maps on all the other worlds. This could take place tomorrow, Wednesday Dec. 21.

2. Expected Follow up Map features

When this phase settles and functions correctly, including reasonable performance, we will continue to release additional functionality that will make the maps more usable and improve they integration with many other game features. These improvements are expected within the next two weeks.

3. War Maps

Work continues to implement all the war functions on the new maps. Once completed, the war process, the moving of units, and following units wherever they are will become easier, using maps of the countries involved in the war.

Hot stuff. Looking forward to the maps features.

An important update for appearance and first impression, particularly for those looking to start with the game.

Game news December 21 - New Maps of all the worlds - update release

An improved version of the new worlds and countries maps is released today. This update is installed on all five worlds. This current release solves several minor errors in the initial release.

In the first 6 hours after the release, many countries will not show roads, railways or any objects on the map.
The maps will be repainted in the first game month running immediately after the release.

If you need to have this done immediately, you can go to the map menu, choose to change the percentage of roads or railways that are visible on the map, also change the setup of the country by removing one object from the map and click to repaint. This will take several seconds to complete and your country map will be up to date.

@Parsifal and @Keto:
This is not related to the new maps. Could it be your screen is not high enough? The list is quite long. I noticed the menu flips up instead of drops down on small screens.

If this is the case I will split the menu.

If this is not the case, please specify browser and version.

I will assume most/some of these will be added in time, but I'll provide some feedback anyway.

- A link to the actual home page of the country in focus
- A mouse over of the neighbouring countries name
- Can't explore the oceans! (due to limited distance that i can explore from the focused country)
- In zoom level 2-3 perhaps have country shading for Free Countries, Countries that will become free, New and moderately experienced players, Small empires and experienced players etc or as an display option.
- Have you thought of completely REMOVING roads for beautification proposes? (No purpose and look messy!)

More features will be added coming Tuesday and in the following weeks, showing your capital on all maps etc.
Reorganizing your map and moving objects is a priority and moving military units too.
the left frame can be much more informative and of course, the war process should run on these maps.
the reason for the very detailed zoom is mainly the war process but we will see if these will be used or not.

They look great. Any way you can add an option to NOT see all your neighbors' crap? Or at least customize what we see? (It's like I live in a neighborhood full of hill-billies with broken-down cars and dirty matresses rusting in their yards.)
