everyone knows that when you create a unit, it provides recommended default numbers of weapons to use. so using those defaults, how much ammo do you like to have sitting at your bases to make sure the units are ready for action? like say... umm let me get some real numbers. for a land defense division:

21,600 AVM's
81,000 artillery shells
121,500 tank ammo

so if we only have this unit that is using up those kinds of ammo, how much would you recommend to keep handy? before, I used to aim for 2x the amount. but I found that I ran short when I had a war.

so what are your suggestions from past knowledge or experience. thanks in advance :)

p.s. I the reason I ask all this is I use "Order strategies" to keep my military looking sharp and supplied... and of course I need to know what to send the stock lower-mark at. so let me know. thanks :)

For a land defense unit, or any defensive unit you dont need to keep as many as sunny suggests, I think he is talking about heavy tanks and arty, in which case he is right. Basically for offensive weapons you can never have enough as you have seen by running out at war.

For defense weapons, probably 5 months worth should do you. My reasoning behind this is if you were to get in a war where you need garissons or defensive units, including interceptors and helicopters, then they are only likely to be get in one scrap before they are destroyed, so whats the point in keeping loads of ammo around for them? But, saying that, a healthy supply of heli and int ammo could be handy in a bigger war because those are probably the two things you are try to get more of during the war, so to have the ammo handy is good. Anyway, this is just my opinion, there are many strategies. Often said in SC:- "you can never have enough ammo" :)

so you seem to talk about arty/tank when you talk about ammo. are these the only weapons you recommend for painting countries? I had previously been using the default unit setups. would you recommend others wise?

Not necessarily for painting only, but if you are going to use LRD for destroying targets, yes, they are really the effective two. Some like mid-range missile batteries thrown in too.

I tried the midrange missile method... I got WAY too expensive to handle. Heavy art seems to do the trick for destroying a C3
