so strictly talking about ground forces (no air force), is it more effective to garrison structures/cities on the ground? (if so, which ones), or is it best to set up defensive units and station them around your country. or maybe both? I don't know. that's why I'm asking you :)

please and thanks,
Idsolvy

Garrisons are a MUST.

Now... if having such ground forces as military units or not I have my doubts now too.

Anyone :D?

How well does the default blueprint work? or can you suggest some better numbs for troops/ammo?

And I figure I garrison my capital, my defense fortifications... what else?

nathan thats a great question. i changed my large garrison blueprint and took out a ton of stuff and added other stuff but i did it like my 1st week playing and should have asked first. so id also like a blue print for baoth a large and tiny garrison. im not sure you need heavy jeeps at all but i could be wrong.

Garrisons: Someone else more knowledgeable will expound but ...

You should not have Def tanks AT ALL

You should not have Def arty AT ALL

You should not have Def Arm Veh AT ALL

(I think)

sell them all off and replace with a mix of AA bat, Def missl bat, Misl int bat (in big numbers)

Garrisons are only a speed bump, they will not save you (in any size) from a determined attacker. They just buy you time to launch your own offensive attacks. If you rely on defense alone you will lose the war if the attacker knows what he/she is doing.

try to find wild eyes guide(?) if nobody comes in with more specific info

The garrison setup depends on what kind of attack you expect to get. For ie... If your opponent is going to use bombers and missiles to attack you, then you would want only def missile batteries (AAMB, DMB, MIB). But if they decide to attack with a ground force then def tanks, arty, etc... can defend quite effectively and cost less than the def batteries.

There is a relationship with the size of your garrisons and your economy. If you have great eco, then you can afford to have huge garrisons.

Ground units only really come into play as obstructions to invading enemy ground units. Enough of them, well placed, can seriously hinder an attacker, wasting lots of their time and ammo. But you dont need to have them continuously set up, you get enough warning to set them up in time imo.
