Medical and Education Workers Disappearing

Has there been some type of adjustment in the medical and education fields i.e. game update?

I am loosing workers in both areas faster than I can educate them; on both GR and LU. I have of course increased the education levels in all of the affected areas with minimal success.

Seems to be hitting LLW, MLW, and HLW pretty hard too.

Anyone else having this problem?

Having the same problem here, including the high tech fields

I'm not experiencing worker shortages, but all three education indices and water treatment index have dropped by a couple of points in every country on WG, despite a slight decrease in population and no loss of facilities or worker shortages. Health Index, on the other hand, seems to have gone up, also without any intervention by me or obvious reason ...

Hugs and respect

There are some minute corrections to the health index that makes it go up a tiny bit.
It will make it easier to explain.
There were similar changes in the financial index also causing a slight increase.
There are no changes in the game in workers groups at all.
adjustments always take place. There are movements between groups depending on numbers of unemployed and shortages of workers.
These have always been there and are small.

This is just one example of what's going on in my LU empire.

Education index is at 192; setting for teachers is 8. Yet, 0 teachers all day.

The previous setting for teachers was 4 and it kept plenty of them available.

There may have not been any changes, but something is not right here.

Andy, will you or someone look at this for me?

This is what a setting of 4 does in another one of my countries, and the education index is only 163 there.

Scarlet, if you have nothing constructive to say, say nothing at all when it comes to me.

Been having the same problem on GR.
Education and Medical workers.
Have always had high indexes.
Then Edu and Med began to implode.
No amount of worker transfers helped in the long term.
My LLW unemployed reached 8M with a 135M pop and then it was uncontrollable.
One thing I concluded was that you can't educate your way out of to many LLWs. The number remained pretty much static unless they were exchanged or employed.

The other, I think, is when when you have that large of a percentage of LLWs unemployed the room you have left to adjust Edu is extremely narrow. Take away a point from HTE to increase Teachers for example, and I was short HTE in a couple of days, and still short Teachers.

And this I completely don't understand. This morning I did an "Exchange Professionals" with another of my countries.
I shipped off 400000 LLWs, from Ursa Major in exchange for whatever.
After the exchange the LLW number was 2,476,028.
This afternoon the LLW number was 2,643,999.
The LLW number had jumped by 167,971.
I have gained back about 40% of the workers I shipped out.

Anyone have any idea how that could be?
Thanks, Rick

If you are producing many professionals and you think they disappear, please check your employment pages.
you can see the distribution of professionals in the age groups.

You can estimate the numbers of retiring nurses, doctors etc.
If there are many in the oldest groups, they will indeed retire in larger numbers.
You can also see on these pages what to expect in the coming days and weeks.

There is no magic and no arbitrary disappearing of professionals in any group.

You're right Andy, there is no magic, and I don't think anyone said there was.......I shouldn't have used the word "disappear".

I see where the workers are accumulating: Low level workers.

Just exactly like Rick said.

The 'magic' is where Andy said it was. The age groups. Not all ages can be any worker type. Your problem is generally known as a population bubble, worst created by buying lots of people at one go or in a short time.

Carefully examine the the distribution of workers and age groups and it will come clear to you, promise :)

Thank you Andy and Crafty for your advice! It is greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, (I am somewhat familiar with retirement bubbles (is that the same as a pop. bubble?)) I have not been able to find a correlation between older age and workers in the affected professions.

I'll keep looking though. The one thing that has happened that you mentioned is there has been steady to heavy growth in my LU empire.

I think I would agree with the bubble theory.
I took a long time to show up, but when it did it was devastating.
I think it was aggravated by the large number of unemployed LLWs not being available for professional employment.
Also, by the large number of High Tech corps.
Edu index was high (200+)until it became impossible to hold it there. It didn't seem to effect the LLW numbers at all. I did funnel in a lot of worker exchanges.

So...does anyone have any advice on how to get out of a mess like that? Or is it... just don't do it in the first place?
I tried everything I could think of.

I mentioned before that there are some adjustments but they are small and they are in the game for years.

If many nurses remain unemployed for a long time, and the numbers are large, some will start to "leak" back into the workers groups.
the same with every group but the numbers of unemployed in the group musty be quite large.

This is a correction mechanism that was designed to ease the results of overheated education system that educates everyone and remains with no workers but many professionals it does not need.

The corrections are small and overheating remains possible.

Population can however disappear and even in quite large numbers if the welfare and migration indexes are very low and if the country has sold population in large numbers.

In these situations the population will indeed go away.
Mainly low level workers go away, first from the unemployed, then employed ones.

Rick, go to http://wgcforum.com/ , go to WGC Wiki at the top, click; Under WGC Docs, click on #2. There you will find multiple resources, mostly written by the original Wildeyes (not the present one), Jo, and a few other contributors. Jo wrote the one on retirement bubbles.

There, you will find step by step instructions to solve a retirement bubble, as well as other great tips.

Hope that helps.

(of course the link above doesn't work directly; copy and paste the link in your address bar)

Thanks for the info Chris.
Jo invited me to do that the other day and I have just been dragging my feet getting there.
Then this thread popped up.
But yes, I need all the help I can get on this subject.

Thanks, Rick
