General

The war game in Simcountry is an important part of the game and has a high priority in our development plan.
In general, the introduction of new war features is intended to insert more dynamics into the war game. It will be supported by high gold coins awards for war winner if the wars they win are real.
Some of the planned features will make it possible to measure the seriousness of the war and make a better decision on the award levels.
Currently, a new tutorial is being developed that will lead new players through a first war. It will show how to declare war, how to start attacks against a C3 country and it will end when the war is won. We are already making sure that new players have at least one free country next to their own country. It will remain in a reserved state to allow new players to run through the tutorial.

Many more war functions are planned and will be developed and added to the game in the next months.

War Maps and multiple maps

The war process will be moved to the large country maps and will allow both sides to watch multiple maps simultaneously. This will make the entire war process easier to conduct even when the war starches to multiple fronts.
The war theater and its functionality will be upgraded and the painting of conquered areas will be improved.

Mobile Units

Mobile army units will be added. These units can be moved around on cargo shuttles and can be traded on the space market. The units can be stationed in one location or a space station and can be moved to any of the worlds when needed or landed in any country where you own a military base (Including a remote military bases). This feature will use professional soldiers and officers. It will not have any consequences to the population even when sold to any other country.
Mobile units can cross borders with or without a war declaration but are unable to attack any targets if not in war with the country where the target is. Moving units will become easier and will show more clearly on the maps.

Auto Response Units

One of the worries of players is that their country will be attacked while they are off line, living their other lives, working, sleeping or on vacation.
The auto response units will be very powerful and capable of a fierce response to any attacks on the country. These units will be more powerful than the existing stealth fighter units and will be able to respond to attacks only.
Having large auto response forces in the country, at a high quality and well equipped with sufficient numbers of missiles will amount to a very effective defense that will be able to destroy a large army at a distance.
Auto response units will not be able to win a war but they will be able, in sufficient numbers, to avoid a destruction of your country while you are out.
With the current alert possibilities in Simcountry, that make it possible to have messages when war is starting or when the war index is declining, players will be able to reduce their dependency of war protection.
Auto response forces will have a default attack priority and players will be able to set their own preferences.

Extended Stealth Units

It will become possible for players to define the attack priorities for their stealth bomber units when they auto attack as a response to attack on your country. There will be additional conditions that will sometimes allow such units to increase the number of attacks each time they respond.

Nuclear Weapons

Nuclear weapons will be more powerful but nuclear attacks will come at a price. Currently, it is possible to set up a defense for the country assuring that nuclear attacks will not be possible. This situation and the relatively small damage that occurs after a nuclear attack, reduce the effect of such weapons.
Nuclear attacks should not be taken lightly but if used, they should be devastating. However, such attacks should have a fierce response.
If the attacked country has an auto response force, it will immediately counter attack the country where the nuclear weapon came from. Such attack will be fierce, using a large number of units, many missiles and at a high precision.
There are several types of nuclear and chemical weapons in Simcountry and the auto response will depend on the weapon that was used.
Nuclear attacks should be part of Simcountry but both sides should realize what the price of such attacks will be for both.
Auto response units will be mobile units.

Rebel Army - Mercenary Army

Any player who owns a mobile army unit will be able to participate in a war between countries by closing a treaty with one of the sides in the war. It will then be possible to transport such units into the war theater and participate in the fighting. This feature will open the war game to CEOs and to players who do not have any countries or any enterprises. Mobile units will be freely traded on the space market.

Easier to use

The setup process of military units will be simplified.
Airlifting and remote landing of army units will become easier and multiple "hopping" will allow the landing of forces anywhere.
The navy will be extended with submarines as a new offensive weapon and may include more new weapons. The navy will be reorganized in navy units that function in the same way other units are organized.
Navy landing units will be added to allow for the landing of forces anywhere in the world.
When attacking a target, military units that are within range will assist the local garrison (if available).

War Protection - Secured mode and temporary war protection

The current secured mode for the main country in each empire has done a lot to allow players to protect their main assets. The secured mode feature will not be changed in any way.
In addition, players can protect more assets by setting up temporary war protection.
The changes and additions to the war game as described above will make the temporary war protection less essential than it is today. The chance of a devastating war will decline if the country is well protected.
Once the new defense force features are in place and data is available on their power to provide security, the need for temporary war protection will be reduced.
Although temporary war protection will remain an option, it will be a costly option compared to the setup of auto response forces and it may be limited to a small number of countries in the empire.
Also the use of freshly conquered C3 countries as a base for attacks on presidents may be limited by a cooling down period between the time the country is conquered and the time is can start a war against a president and it may depend on the temporary war protection used for other members of the attacking empire.

Time Table

Completing the entire plan will take a while but some of the features are not complex and some are already being developed. Features will start to pop up in the coming month with the war tutorial likely to be the first. More will be announced before they become available and will material in the coming months.

No.1 Well I think the Auto Response Units is a terrible idea as PvP warfare will truly come to an end if implemented as it will be almost impossible to take over their countries, well thats my opinion of it.

No.2 For the nuclear weapons making them more powerful will be much more realistic and reduce the speed of production in the corporations where they are made at by half for such weapons. Also I also think if you made all the strategic weapons on the open market twice as expensive than they are now I think you will have the balance you need on this game as the big players on here will definitely think twice about bombing smaller and weaker players so easilly as they'll be more difficult to obtain.

No.3 Also The Rebel Army - Mercenary Army sounds like an idea that could work, but the question is though for example, will someone at war level 0 be able to attack someone who is at say war level 4? and most importantly will there be a limit to the number of mobile army units you can use in a single war?

Andy

Wednesday, May 23, 2012 - 05:55 pm Click here to edit this post
Someone in war level 0 will not be able to attack a country with a president. This is not possible now and remains the same.

Auto response units will not make winning wars impossible but will make sure there is real fight.
night time attacks while your opponent was asleep are easier but unrealistic. wars should not be conducted by one side only. P v P wars used to be P v nothing wars. Today, even P v C3 is more realistic.

There is currently no limit to the number of units. mobile units are like other units so why the limitation?
Mobile units are like other units with several advantages like mobility, usability in any of your countries in all of the worlds, no impact on your work force, they can be traded as units between players and they can cross all borders.
Disadvantage: They are more expensive.

Temporary war protection will decline with more countries involved in war.

#1, james, W3C beleives that if a person works hard enough, they should be able to have an undeafeateble country, with out actively firing a shot.

but, the C3 war tutorial, is something that over the next few years will change the demographics of this game.

historically, many, many, MANY, players have quit when they couldn't take their first C3. and often when they ask vets for help, they are told to sell all their weapons. and ofcourse leave for a game they can actually have fun with.

giving new players a step by step guild. i can testify, that will keep around allot more people interesting in warring. and over the course of time, we'll see a change. as what the over all player base wants will change.

the other changes, are necessary. but a war game with only 6-8 people who really know how to fight... is one of the limiting factors of war in SC. the tutorial is vital to provide the info to players, if we want to war-player base to grow.

i get its just C3, but thats the basics. after you've got your feet on the ground, the rest getsw easier.

Josias how you doing? long time no see? what happened to most of your countries? and i've noticed you do C3 warring a lot by taking 2 countries a time like I do. Is it that 'good for bad' country you're using to raid countries from? as you're often in the news.

Hi James, hows it going for you?

I took break for 6ish months. Its was getting way to hard to maintain the 4 world war machine. i woulda lowered my war level on a couple of planets, but their no ligit way to do that. so i was stuck with more than i could handle.

coming back, i had 3 countries, 18gc, and -20T cash, with 89B in my account. and wl 7 every where but GR, (which is my lease favorite planet.) I am NOT complaining.

having the 8T in wl7 countries was the only thing that saved my account. it took a couple weeks to hook up with my friends to get a bank role, and buy back a few of my old stuff, like Scary on WG. The current Good for bad, is not my old one.

as far as this C3 raiding thing goes. Well now that W3C is working on allowing every one to follow multipul wars... the trick is to open Chrome, and Firefox, and open the war in each browser and shoot in one while the other is reloading. Its my goal to take 2 C3s for assets until i can restabilize myself.

but this time around, i'm more interested in Space, and what i can do as a player to make it more popular. and frankly, i'm at a loss. but allot of my raiding resources are going to go into space. That is when i actually fix things.

The idea of a rebel army or mercenaries as described in the text was indeed part of the plan but is partially abandoned.

The reason is mainly, that when in war, both parties will have something they can win but also something they can lose.

Having players participate in a war while they do not have a country, does not really make sense.
However, mobile units can be stored on a space station, and moved, traded quickly and participate, they can be used by the warring country but also by fed members.

we think that there are enough features here to use these units in a flexible way.

we are considering the possibility for an enterprise, to purchase such units and keep them in storage. They can do so on a space station but such a feature might make sense.

we will look into the possibilities and potential advantages for Simcountry.

better plan will be to improve the economy and earn enough to build your army.

The fake wars against C3s of the same war level, will become less profitable.
the economy is becoming more profitable.

Farming c3 is now considered the war game? Not pvp?

ELCapitano

Friday, September 12, 2014 - 06:57 pm Click here to edit this post
Totally support this direction by W3C. Raiding is unrealistic. Some players that raid for hours end up with huge amounts of cash and with that huge armies compared to other players that dont have the time to raid for hours. if everyone makes the majority of their cash through economy then you will see less of a disparity between countries cash and therefore their armies.

VikingX

Friday, September 12, 2014 - 07:40 pm Click here to edit this post
Raiding isn't unrealistic. In the real world countries have raided other countries since the beginning of time. War protection and war levels are unrealistic.

We should remember why c3 raiding was made more profitable. To keep players happy when the war levels where introduced. That took away the bounty of raiding big fat juicy inactives.

The real prize of raiding those inactives was there pop. Cash from c3's is a poor second best.

I hear the gm say the econ will be made better but I'm sceptical

Also raiding c3s has been part of this game since the beginning. They used to have 30 mill pop or more at 1 stage.

Aries

We know what ELCapitano meant. Repeatable and predictable wars against a C3 that does not launch its own attacks is less akin to world history and has more in common with visiting an ATM. This is why this activity has earned the "fake" label.

Real rewards should be earned against real competition, not "skill" against computers and inactives.

VikingX

Friday, September 12, 2014 - 10:39 pm Click here to edit this post
In essence all wars on here are fake so I don't get that label.

There's 2 ways to play this game. Either raid or play the econ game for months and months and earn the cash. It's always been this way. Fact is pvps are rare, always have been. There was a period where there was a lot but in general they're rare.

Take away raiding and force people to play 1 way only is a bad idea.

Quote:

If a player is willing to spend more time than another player, then they should be able to reap the benefits. I personally think there should be multiple ways to be successful at this game. Otherwise just make a how-to guide for us and tell us when to push which buttons and we can all be equal!!!

Khome y Peng

Friday, September 12, 2014 - 11:30 pm Click here to edit this post
This game offers allot of realism however there are many unrealistic elements as well such as a very regulated economy. I'm not allowed to choose my own price when selling on the market for example. Also when declaring war, there is a very long wait period before we can launch an attack. Sneak attacks are more of a nuisance.

Raiding exists for an opportunity to invest time in the game, like Serpent's point. If we are not allowed to raid a C3 then what would be the alternative? We are not allowed to attack a C3 at all and give them eternal war protection? (which is unrealistic also as pointed out before).
If the reward seems to be too unrealistic, then let us raid and loot what cash is in there, supplies, weapons, all realistic amounts. Remember that when you conquer a C3, you don't get to keep all of the supplies, weapons or ammo left behind. It all resets to a default amount of just a few missiles and shells. Really the money we get to transfer is just the weapons that were in the C3, converted into cash for simplicity purposes. And the C3's do offer a challenge the higher your game level. Naturally they don't offer much challenge because they are not built up by players anyway.

So yes, raiding should remain. If you want to adjust the reward a little, fine. Make it so that we get to keep all of the supplies left after the battle and whatever cash was left. When we drop the country we end up paying for whatever debt was incurred, not that taking on a conquered nation's debt would be realistic. It would make it interesting while raiding to see us trying to minimize damage to C3 armies.

Aries

VikingX. Andy owns the label. I trust you know the difference between warring a C3 and a player though. These changes are about encouring more pvp. I am glad you see the problem.

I have no problem with those investing more time tending to be more successful. This is as true with econ as it is for raiding. A button-mashing how-to guide fits raiding much more than econ however. The balance in income still favors raiding over econ for most players with some assets. Favoring both styles would seem to mean tilting the balance a bit more.

It was said: "Also raiding c3s has been part of this game since the beginning."

Having personally been here since the beginning, I can personally assure you this is patently false. From the beginning this was a realistic econ game that allowed for some war for realistic reasons.

Currently, it's a game comprised of a bunch of D-bags sitting around complaining about how it's not more of war game than an econ game.

Well...DUHHHHHHHH!

But you guys have nothing to worry about because the only way W3C is going to fix this game, is if they find an old server backup from the begginning and use it to overwrite this pile of dren they have now.

Good Luck,

But really it's funny how in the begginning everybody was like: "those econ only players are making too much money, because they don't have military expenses, it's not fair." And W3C said "we are working towards encouraging everyone to play the war game."

Completely opposite of what it is now. Can't we pick a server backup that was from a time when it was more balanced.

Yes Aries I seen the GM call these wars fake. Like I said I don't get why. It's still a war. There's no risk but the c3 still defends itself. which in a way it's still fighting back.

I agree more pvp's add to the game, For sure. But I don't see how making c3 raiding less profitable will do that. Infact I see it having the opposite effect. With every asset that's been hard earned over months players are less inclined to risk them.

We seen this with war levels. Before players where more likely to risk there assets because they hadn't spent years acquiring them. They raided inactives for them. Therefore they where less attached. That's how I felt about them anyway.

James c3's have always been raided. Not in the way they are now but if you had picked up on what I said in my entire post you'd have understood where I'm coming from. C3's took the place of raiding inactives when the war levels came in. Raiding has always been a part of the game!

I don't appreciate being called a D-bag. We're discussing how to improve the game. Naturally not everyone agrees but if you've been here since the start you'll know how much war adds to the game.

I'd like to go back to old rules as well but keep all the cool new features. The GM will find the right balance eventually and this game will become great again.

Andy

Fighting c3 countries will remain but it is not the real war game.
It will be profitable to a limit.
The economy is more profitable now and should become even more so.
The game is not about fake wars.
It is about either the economy, or real wars or both.

Everyone can read only one part and jump to conclusions.
Some of you like writing more than they like reading.

Sorry Viking, raiding has not always been a part of the game. Taking inactives was possible in the begginning, but it wasn't possible to clean them out and drop them. Good countries were tranferred to fedmates via war when someone left. The rest weren't worth taking. So no raiding has not always been the norm. Now it's the norm, and while a little is okay, the current situation is not okay.

War makes it interesting, raiding makes it boring for everyone else.

However, in your absence we have all be doing fine overall. Sure we all had our complaints(including me) but coming back after a length of time and start name calling is not going to make the GM jump to your wishes. We all have been here for years and we don't get a full say in anything even with a voting system, so why would the GM start taking a list of your demands? I'm fine with raiding, even with a few adjustments AND I enjoy learning more about the economic factor, as well as all of the other possibilities we could hope for. They already have a system in place that developed over time due to different circumstances, so some of these changes were understandable. So no, when we wake up in the morning we are not going to find ourselves in Folsom paradise because you just returned out of the blue.

PS. I am perfectly aware that Andy can take care of himself. But I adopted him, and I will therefore defend him. BACK OFF, disturbed person!

I'm sure that's it, Hymy lol and it is "your're" and not "your". If you are going to address me, at least have the knowledge to do so correctly.

Furthermore, I am not here. lol I no longer play the game because of dysfunctional individuals such as yourself. I don't care how you play your game. I just have read your posts since your return, and they seem pompous, arrogant, insulting and critical of others in the game. I don't think that is really necessary here, do you?

Anyways, I probably shouldn't have said anything, but I can't stand to see such flagrant disrespect to other players. Anyways, I've said my piece. I have no desire to continue swapping insults with you. Booooooooooooooring!

Oh and you should not bother replying. I AM the female, therefore we typically like having the last word. :P

Good luck with that last word thing. It's usually not very effective to announce that you must have the last word, when you quit the discussion.

Besides, I thought you made promises not threats. I've yet to see any truth to that.
