As of this morning GB stands 3rd in the medal table.

Yay!

But the good ole US of A is tops again.

And why does everyone seem to have it in for the Chinese?

Because they cheat?

"Because they cheat?"

That, or because Americans are terrified of the "Rise of the East", and cannot be persuaded into believing that a Chinese woman can be extraordinarily talented, despite the pertified country in question hypocritically having an athlete who has won 20 gold medals.

Rather, the average obese American continues to clutch his "America Number One" banner tightly in his sweaty, sausage fingers, whilst watching a delayed NBC feed of the swimming, cursing angrily when a "yellow devil" wins gold but screaming in delight when a white comes first in similar questionable circumstances.

[/facetious super-ironic rant]

Yeah but to be fair there is like 100 swimming events so most decorated olypiad of all time, maybe, but it is really fair?

Anywho, I find myself cheering anyone but the Americans or Chinese. Tolitarian China kidnaps citizens for the Olympics all for a false sense of nationalism. And Americans do well in the Olympics just as every individualistic culture, which makes my theory hold base that Aericans do well because of their selfishness, their greed. Sure it gives them the motivation to do well, but how do they give back? So go everyone except China, good luck everyone except USA. The only event I really cared about was that Saudia Arabian chick but she got decimated too bad =(. But Tom what do you think of that distant swimmer guy, is the coach treasonous?

Tom, I am American and certainly am not terrified of the Chinese and certainly not of da Chinese Buffet, thank you very much. ha ha ha ha ha

As to da long haired hippy dude's comment on Michael Phelps being the most decorated Olympiad..... it is what it is...doesn't matter if there are 100 swimming type events, he's won that many medals. Give the guy his due.

And furthermore, you wanna know what really hurts?....IT AIN'T FOX WHATEVER....IT'S LOOKING AT THAT HAIR! CUT IT!!!!

Drew

It's much more impressive a 4 time winner of one big tournament every Olympics, like the girls beach volleyball team. Their accomplishments are a hell of better then Phelps. He is the best swimmer ever, credit is due, but not every gold medal is equal. Gymnastics single all around should be a greater praise then a team's win on single event. If you play badmitten you can get a maximum of 2 medals, if you get both both you proved you were the best badmitten player there. If you get 8 swimming golds you didn't win the other 30 events. So... umm c'mon really?

And excuse for bringing color into this world, cut your hair. =)

"AHHH!!!! I can't read that it's got a fox on it, foxbites hurt "

That arsehole Murdoch (who's Aussie) put FOX News Channel on Aussie TV. My brain hurts.... He also owns about half of the newspapers and the entire pay TV industry in Australia. I agree- anything with a whopping FOX on it is poison...

BTW, love the 90s haircut. Don't listen to Lorelei- she's jealous.

To all our British players,

Your country did such a lovely job hosting the Olympics. The closing ceremony I greatly enjoyed. Gawd you have to love British music. Only thing missing was Def Leppard! I forgot how much I loved Queen and Pink Floyd.

Now I have to gloat........ USA rules!!!! :-P

You know the one thing that really got my goat? that all announcements were made in French before English. Do you know how that sticks in an Englishmans craw? whats that all about.

I would like to address everybodies' attention to....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All-time_Olympic_Games_medal_table

Now a few comments:

1) Source = Wikipedia, so it is undeniably FACT.

2) Please be sure to sort by total medals won to recognize some true Olympic dominance.

3) You may feel compelled to hum the U.S. national anthem while looking in awe at the stats.... give into your urges.

4) Norway deserves an honorable mention for performance in the Winter Games, but.... its only the Winter Games....

5) The total value of medals the U.S. has won exceeds the GDP of 44.333 (repeating)% of the world's developed countries.

6) I may or may not have made up that statistic.

7) God bless the U.S.A...... and all the little countries who helped make us who we are today. (Here's looking at you Little Britain) ;)

That's quite an insult, blaming Britain for helping make the US what it is today.

Expect retaliation.
