This game doesn't make any sense! Most of my corporations are 100% hiring, and over 100% in production, yet they won't make a buck! Is this because I'm not allowed to change trade strategies for another 6 days, or am I missing something so basic it's right in front of me...

Sorry, just venting... I'm spending too much time trying to figure this out and pouring over the text, forum discussion and bugging people with questions.

They need to be upgraded, have they got to 200 yet?

Are you paying 150 - 350 salaries? otherwise they may have problems.

And they normally need supplies of 160 or up to sell at a good-ish price.

The auto settings shouldn't really be causing the corps to fail badly, I mean, you could probably do better manually, but wait your time, you'll be ok. Just keep an eye on your beginners bonus, remembering that it will disappear before long so you will need to be covering that.

Apply for untied aid (2T sc$) now. I cant remember your country name and world but if you post it again and I am on the security council of that world I will nominate you for it. Then its up to a vote.

No, I'm still upgrading them. I guess that will take a while...

My salaries for each corp is set at 250. Is that ok?

My supplies were at 150 for a while, I just brought it up to 180 for good measure.

Yeah, I was beginning to worry about the bonus leaving me soon. I really appreciate your nomination. my country name is

The Peoples Republic of Malizi on KB

Always appreciated Crafty

Yes, 250 should be fine. I'm sure you will notice the corps getting much better with higher supplies and more upgrades. Just time...

Ok, you need to lose a bit of cash somewhere, so you have less than 2T before I can nominate you. Let me know when you have done that and I will try again. Maybe buy something you know will sell again immediately when you have your aid.

This game makes lots of sense, if one were accustomed to the economy of the Soviet Union, circa 1979.

I don't know if this is really a command economy, we all run out own mini dictatorships with corps subjected to simulated market forces. (I suppose the invisible hand of the market is the game master?)

Actually, the way we pump and dump money, it kinda reminds me of the Nixon shock when we moved from the Bretton Woods gold standard to the fiat system, (again, 70's) which then leads us to printing more money; with all the boosters, converting gold coins into game money, etc...
However, I have not fully learned everything about this game, I could be wrong, so it remains to be seen...

Speaking of font, and USSR, I want a Soviet propaganda nostalgic font. Catchy :)

Your not the only one who made mistakes on the game either. Its trial and error and it took me over 2 months to learn the basics of the game. This is my second country already and hoping to improve and learn from the previous mistakes i made on the old country i had.

This one's for Lorelei.

And I think 'wingdings' is probably the most appropriate font for most the ramblings on here.

This game sure does have a lot of depth, but I agree with what was said above: this is closer to soviet economy (save the stock market) than any western market economy.

One thing that caught my eye above: doe state corporations get beginner bonuses??

I was starting to feel happy that at least some of my corporations have stopped losing money, but is that only because they get some kind of beginner bonus that will disappear??

For the record, I set wages to 130. Probably won't do in the long-run, but everything's discount atm.

Lorelei! I just thought of that when I clicked on this thread again! LOL arrrrgh

Actually, this economy is not really communist. It has elements of a command economy, so it seems closer to a dictatorship, like fascist Italy, or Franco's Spain if it wasn't isolated from the international community up till 1975.

Remember, fascism holds elements of corporatism, the Soviet economy had just national methods of production and did not have private enterprise as an option.
