Gamemaster.

As you may be aware, the link function incorporated into the forum service is not working.

It has been asked of you previously to fix this problem.

Could you please acknowledge this fault and explain if you have removed the link function intentionally, or if it is not repairable or maybe you think it too much work to repair when you have a new forum program coming into the game.
Of course, ideally, I would like to see the function re-instated ASAP, it is often used by many posters, and the copy/paste work around is a completely unnecessary nuisance.

Thank you in advance for your reply.

Ooooooooooh Andrew!!! You have to have this fixed right away! With proper linkage, I could be ooooooooooooooooooooh so creative and share music and graphics clips wif the community!!! It is such an engaging feature! I know it used to work, I think something got messed up in the coding.

As Wendy said in another thread, I think it is being done purposely as well, but it is very badly executed.

They can and should do what everyone does, which is an interstitial webpage that warns the user he is leaving the website, display the target url and plaster an ad on it.

I don't care what they do, but this can't carry on. It is bloody annoying. A forum shouldn't be this way.

Also, fix the image tag. This forum software allows images to be posted.

I'm not sure I understand. Why would this be done intentionally? Are you saying that W3C need some sort of disclaimer in the event of someone linking to a site that could be offensive and blame W3C for it? In that case, yeah LG, doesn't sound too hard.

They don't want people linking out off the site. They want us all here forever! Haha :)

That is just my uneducated guess, but that is the most practical purpose in my mind.

I am aware of the link problem.

I will check the status.
we had some problems in the past, with the places these links linked to.

Many forums do not allow outside linking, it also has consequences for the search engines.

Crap! Well you have to protect your gaming site, Andrew. I understand this. But could there be a way we can post pictures and things that wouldn't harm the forum that wouldn't involve outside links?

I might still turn you into a Monkey, though, just for giggles and due to my extreme wickedness. :P

Now it is a monkey?
Hardly used to block your efforts to turn me into a frog, now I have to adapt again.

We have plans to replace the forum software.
one of the reasons is to allow uploading of pictures and more.

Andy,

I don't think I have ever been to any forum that hasn't allowed outside linking, unless they are private forums, and not even then. But, not to argue the point I have something that may help.

Depending on your code you use for the site, (I know there is Java and HTML at least right?) you can code "No_Follow" command code for links. That eliminates the search engine problem of being penalized with pagerank for external links.

Hopefully that shouldn't be too hard to implement into the new software package.

I can provide examples and an explanation if you need.

So now you are wanting to instruct the gamemasters on how to do their coding. ha ha ha ha Gee Whiz!!! WHAT ARE YOU? You dictate the game, you dictate to players, now you are trying to tell the GMs how to code their game.

OMG!

Are you a programmer by profession? I'm sure that Andrew and the gamemasters are quite capable of writing their own codes. ha ha ha ha

I tell them what to do all the time. And I'm very straight forward in my language. They choose not to listen though.

I've been on several forums that didn't allow outside linking... the common thread is it is because some people abused the "privilege" by advertising some other site.

Wendy Gave some good advice, and because nobody else has this expertise, she is deemed telling the GMs what to do. I thank Laguna for the save.

Well, regarding Scarlets comment, I would have said that it would be part of W3Cs moderation of the forum and chat to see any breaches of their T&C and delete the link and take what action they see necessary against the poster.

We can all live without it but its just one more silly thing that takes away from the game experience.

Lor', chill wench, that attack was totally un-called for.

Well not really, Crafty, because I'm not the ONLY player with this same comment/attitude towards this certain player who tries to dictate to the game, other players, and every other aspect of this game. It has also been reported to me that multiple complaints have been lodged to the GMs about this prevailing attitude in the game by her. I don't particularly care one iota if I offend Wendy/SweetPea, but if my comment offended you or others that I DO respect in the game, then I will state my apologies here, because I DO possess the ability to do that UNLIKE SweetPea for some of the poor taste things she has used in her attacks against me.

But I will tell you this. If you are going to pipe up and tell me that MY statement is uncalled for.....well you should have been there that day when Wendy was posting before this entire community about my relationship with Blueserpent and my private convos with her and then twisting and posting lies about the matter as attack fodder. THAT was totally uncalled for, yet I never saw any such statement by you, by Laguna. Are your "un-called" for statements selective?

And to think all this started by me defending YOU in the game chat. Well I won't make THAT mistake again defending another player.

But in future, I will stave my comments and my feelings on the matter and perhaps step back on my contributions to this game and forum. After all who am I in the game, but a mere free player and certainly "insignificant" in all realms of the game, per the attitude of one said player, named SweetPea and her game puppets. I see these statements as "un-called" for, yet again....... you are not there stating this.

But you go ahead and defend this obnoxious player, because the message it sends to me is every bit as insulting as me being called a "nobody" and "insignificant" as a player, which I HOPE that every other free player in this game is not treated this way.

Yours truly,

Crafty

Common kiddo. You're at it constantly recently. Talk to her privately if you have issues. Stop keep bringing up Blueserpent, and I was there remember. You can see for yourself that I have also had a go at Wendy when I think she was over doing it.

Anyways, dont go into pout mood, you know we have lots of laughs with you. Its a game, you take it too personal.
