Do you really need to have a Defense Index of 850 to achieve game level 8? This seems rather high, or is War Level 5 just needed? I can't remember how this quite works.

It is not the defense index, it is the defensive index.

The requirement is:
Either have a defensive index of 850 which is indeed very high

OR

Reach war level 5

we have published many times that the requirements for the DEFENSIVE index will be increased to very high levels.
The requirements are increasing weekly, and will end up much higher.

At some point, the required level will become unreachable. It will then be removed from the game and the only way to move up the game levels will be by reaching higher war levels, or by playing the peacfull game.

At the same time, more gold coins are now awarded for reaching higher war levels and these awards will be increased to even higher numbers.

opps, my bad, indeed I meant defensive index. I was pretty sure that what you have said was the case. I just wanted to make sure. I don't like to read much so I just post the question here and get it answered. Maybe I should read more though, as to not clog up the forums... sorry :(

No problem.
but if you read some more, you might discover lots of things nobody seems to know.

Hey Andy: You are very correct about your statement, I just want you to know that I find the items that cause the confusion redundancies that are built in to the explanations of another concept. Air transport units is an example... There are areas I have noticed are still saying 12000 miles for Air Transport units distance. here are the spots to go to for the example: Military Units and Supplies in war docs, 14 and 15

+3 on your comment, but maybe a link instead, that links you to the main information and update in one spot only?
You know "to learn more about , click here"

sorry not the right area, but relevant to the subject.
