Who the heck keeps messing with the oil suplies on LU?

One month there are shortages well in the hundreds of millions and the next month there is a surplus of the same amount.

Stop screwing with the oil people this is not the real world!

Oil has been in the green so much lately that I have been cutting back on building oil corps. Its a bit of a shame.. Oil corps are one of my favorites lol. But yes, someone is making a noticeable impact on the oil market..

The answer might be found near the top of the "Beginners" forum threads. Second from top, currently. Can't say for certain it was that individual, but seems a fair chance.

His finances are to small to make this much of an impact but aperantly the're more people who act like him.

Now the more interesting question is. Why oil? Is it because of the link to the real world?

Possibly. Each person has their own reasons for doing any given thing. For SC, it seems a relatively cheap and easy way to make a quick profit or shake the market a bit.

The cheap oil was made possible by some changes in market conditions. Those buying and selling the excess oil have little to do with the rough oil pricing. The issue has to do with how much oil is being produced and how much oil is being used and thus removed from the market. I have had some hand in this.

I can tell you that it's been a problem for many of us for a long, long time and it's extremely annoying.

A rule I always take care to follow is to simply always sell well enough below the shortage level to not turn it green. And, if it does go green I used to try to put it back into red...but usually don't do much of that now as it feels like I'm fighting against the tides of the ocean.

Never really notice shortages as im about 75% self sufficient. for the other well I have a huge bank account so market hiccups don't bother me. (even the Great Shortage of 2014 didn't hurt.) Just build enough to supply yourself with a little extra.

Even in this world the powers that be manipulate the prices and the little man has to pay up

There is actually a downward trend in the price.. The price is fluctuating but overall the price of oil is dropping. Good if you are on the buyers end of the market, bad if you have a bunch of oil corporations.

Build a bunch of corporations that use oil and help send it in to deep red.. Though whoever is buying and selling all that oil will just profit that much more lol
