I have thought about this for a little while and decided to officially look for interest. The premise is that players with the power to do so set up games for other war players so they can gain war skill and earn substantial rewards.

First, I am thinking of dividing up interested players in the following categories:

Class A
Class AA
Class AAA
Sponsors

Class A will compromise of players with the least skill/resources on up to Class AAA consisting of the top-end war players. Interested players should give an idea of what level they wish to compete at. Higher levels offer more rewards but stiffer competition.

Sponsors set up the games and for purposes of the sign-up, will give an idea of what they can contribute to the games. Typically the sponsor will setup countries that are the focus of the games and stock the country with an amount of cash that serves as the game prize.

As the first sponsor, I am looking to contribute $20 Trillion/week. I am thinking of rewards being $5 Trillion for Class A, $10 Trillion for Class AA, and $20 Trillion for Class AAA. So, I alone can setup a single AAA or some combination of smaller events each week. I may contribute other assets as well.

A short FAQ:

1. How do I get prizes?

-Sponsors will stock a country they own with an amount of cash and possibly other assets. As part of the games, you conquer the country and obtain it and all country assets including any cash.

So post here if you are interested and what level you are interested in (Class/Sponsor). Participants post your world(s), participating country names, and federation. Sponsors post what you might be able to contribute and for which worlds. I am personally looking at FB for the location of the first games but anyone interested for other worlds should go ahead and sign up too. I can get this started very soon. Tell your feds. Tell your friends.

Thanks Jonni!

Great Johanas! Just need your info. Need country, world, and which division you want to compete at. As we line up players, you may decide to change division later. I am thinking players can then challenge those in their division and, if the challenged player accepts, I can start to set it up.

I am thinking of keeping track of stats as well. Players will have a record in their division and, over time, as they advance, may have a Class A and Class AA record, and so on, as well as a career winnings amount.

For players with the least assets, I may offer a scenarios with an equal cash amount for both. The rules will give one a win but the loser would receive cash so they can continue.

Jonni,

I know a way you can support this right now, Jonni. Stick some cash into those C3 war levels.
War Level 10= $15T
War Level 11= $25T
War Level 12= $40T
War Level 13= $60T etc...

Yeah, this is a great idea for the GM. We spend our hard earned game cash on setting up our own war games and handing out our own prizes. All the risk on us, and if we lose, we start all over again. If we want to rebuild, who "CA CHINGS". Why, the GM of course.

Aires, is not that your idea is bad, it's just that this is what the GM should be doing in the first place. Not the players.

Count me out.

I don't mind setting this up. I do have some suggestions how the game could setup something similar but PvP is unlike fighting a c3. Simply upping their rewards will not do it.

I am sorry to hear you will not be participating. I am determined to make this work. If I don't have a match in the next week, I will carry over rewards to week 2. Someone just might take home $40 Trillion..

The GM could easily set up a scenario which rewards winners of real PVP awards with compensation that make up for the war effort. They just don't want to.
However, I admire your effort to make the game more interesting.
This is not the way to go about. The game should do away with war levels for all players on all worlds after they have had ample time to learn the game.
All that aside, I will be interested in watching whether this takes hold. There is nothing wrong with keeping a watchful open mind.

As I mentioned in the original post, the goal is to have games available everywhere. Participants mention which world you are interested in competing in and your country name (and which class). By including your country name, it allows the sponsor to attempt to base your match nearby.

What class will they be? Will index's matter? At what point does the country get the cash injection as it will be eating all the cash thats in it? Black-outs and time zones (they are my biggest fear LOL)?

Countries will usually be a c3 that the sponsor recently conquered at war level 3 (that update came in handy for this) and prepared for the match. I was thinking taking the country at that war level will give the sponsor the ability to preserve the country's economy to support the participants' or sponsor's military. A few minor adjustments, including raising taxes to 75%, will help the finance index and avoid weapon deactivation.

The scenarios will drive much of the details but you read my mind. I was about to update the challenge thread with asking for the participants' time zone. That info will be useful for the sponsor when communicating the start of the match.

Toecutter, part of the goal of my "Total War" idea was to add gold coin rewards to PvP. Currently, no coins are offered for PvP and one must get coins from game level awards, war level awards, world rankings, or space instead.

It is quite possible to sustain for quite a while off those rewards though. I just got the game level 12 award on fb and ran up my war level there, as well, which will sustain my operations for some time. As the rewards can be repeated on each world, there are quite a number of coins available.

ToeCutter

That's fine for you Aries. You have quadrillions and many coins and all the army a player could need.

My country has 20 odd million pop, I have 30T cash, 33 corps and have done lvl 3. So to advance I need a further 30GC for the required enterprise (monthly). I am no where near space yet. No where near lvl 12 and no where near reaping lvl rewards from my home world let alone others. And of course my economy cant support serious war level advances even if I did want to go down that route.

So to repeat:

Can you tell me where I can get the GCs to set up on FB and use space then please ?

Try thinking of the majority of the player base Aries, not just yourself.

Aries

Sure, I can get specific.

You are currently game level 4. That means you have already collected:

Game Level 2 - 10 gold coins
Game Level 3 - 50 gold coins
Game Level 4 - 50 gold coins

You have collected 110 coins. If you choose the 9 month premium membership, you get another 90 coins. That is 200 coins and your empire is less than 60 days old. Not too shabby. Ahead of you, you have some choices.

Choice 1 - You can be a peace-lover.

If you go this route, you would need the 30 coins for the enterprise to continue gaining the peaceful game levels. This opens up the path to more coins through the single-player econ game that has been described on other threads. As you have collected a minimum of 110 coins for game level 4, you should be well-funded for this step.

Choice 2 - You can be a warlord.

If you go this route, you probably should seek out a federation and gain allies. Buy a couple shuttles (currently priced at .38 coins each), and take your show to FB where you use your 30 coins to register there instead.

You can peacefully duplicate your success with game levels here and earn another 110 coins just for getting to game level 4 again. Raid c3s for their riches and, along with their cash, pocket another 100 coins just for getting to war level 5. The road is bright ahead with many more coins available for additional war levels and game levels with your two budding empires.

Yes, I have stuff. How do you think I got it? It just shows it is possible. With War Games, I am making the warlord path to gaining assets even easier. I expect to elevate players with similar resources as yourself to the mid-tier and maybe further. It is up to you whether you want to take advantage of the opportunities.

Drys
Fighting Falcon
Johanas
Richard Black
Brandon Fleetwood

You guys should feel free to comment on the scenarios I posted on the War and Peace forum or propose your own there. When you are ready, you can challenge someone who has signed up on the challenge thread there. Include the world, proposed class, your time zone, and scenario. If your opponent accepts I will review it and work out the details.

An update on what I am thinking about class. Class will determine the reward and the participants will propose the class during the challenge. The sponsor has the option to accept the proposed class or counter with a match at a lower class level. This will be at the discretion of the sponsor based on the perceived level of competition and influenced by the proposed scenario.

You seem to think your situation is unique. We all have the same challenges in acquiring gold coins and have to make decisions on how to invest them. Setting up on FB and acquiring a dozen shuttles costs about 35 coins. All those things you can't buy, except in space, are manufactured for cash on FB.

I am interested why your focus is on me though. I don't have the most gold coins. I don't have the most mobile units/professional soldiers. I don't even have the most strategic weapons, not that I put the value on those that you seem to. What is it?

Aries, I got 'hurt' by SC when Tom Willard was replaced by andy. The game was destroyed, and such a brilliant game it was, there was no comparison, nothing even came close, that I ever found on the interwebs.

The community disappeared and was replaced by accusations of multi-ing, people pretending to be Wildeyes and all sorts of rubbish (maybe some of it true in Kiss's case). And then people started rueing the war game and making endless suggestions to change it. The worst ones were taken on board by andy.

And here we are, I come back some years later to find the same old, same old, suggestions and debate still going round in circles.

And honestly, I don't see a lot of difference in the way you are going about having SC work your way than in the way Hezzy did.

So you get over it my boy, if you don't like SC, fuck off somewhere else.

Graziani, good deal. I feel games will come to WG real soon.

Dubhthaigh, the participants choose the options for their match, including the scenario (which they can even propose themselves) and what class they will fight at (driving the cash reward amount). Think of the participants as Prize Fighters and their own promoters. On the challenge thread, a participant basically says, "hey, i want to fight this guy at this place on these terms". the other participant says. "your on! who wants to see this?". The sponsor then might suggest modifications or simply say, "i would pay to see that". Based on the entertainment of the match, viewers might see a participant grow to warrant a bout against someone else in a higher class or demand a rematch. Oh, don't forget that we are able to drop war level protection.

Toecutter, you miss several points. One, this thread describes a game feature that already exists, not a suggestion. Funny thing is that after I outlined how it could work, I received several messages from players saying how they considered something similar.

About Hez, he did some good things. For the failings of his world government, he drove a lot of the community together, either with him or opposing him. However, War Games is much different than anything Hez was doing. Comb through what I have outlined. I gave power to the participants and wrote myself out of the process as much as possible. Participants set the rules and choose their battles. The sponsor, who could gladly be someone other than me, simply offers to fund and setup the match.

So, participate, don't participate, it is your choice.

Dear Toecutter,

I think it is fair to say that there are a great many of us who adore this game. All our interests are different, and we are here for different reasons.

Simcountry is and always has been a game of egos and great pride by many of its players. It is quite an accomplishment to meet the game goals and challenges head on. There are truly some brilliant minds in this game and some truly remarkable players. I am happy to say that I have played in feds with some of the games' greatest and finest.

I don't perceive Aries as a controlling person or threat to this game. I see an active player, who loves the game, and like many players, throws out ideas and suggestions. I think his effort here is to build a fun, learning aspect to the game, to get players involved and active and to play wargames. We used to do this all the time within our feds. It's a great learning opportunity for players wanting to learn the war game. PVP wars are much different than C3 wars.

To be fair, Toecutter, the changes to the game are not Andy's fault. They aren't Jonni's fault. They are not any one person's fault. They are many peoples' fault. There have been so many abuses of the game, with multiplaying, game bashing and whatnot, utter nonsense, it destroyed the wonderful dynamic of the game. That is when the changes began. Can't blame the games owner for trying to make the game fair for everyone and encourage fair play.

I don't know what the answers are. I just know that we, the players, are probably more to blame than the owners of the game for how the game has changed. I would like the see the community more involved. I'd like to see more people talking and recruiting and helping each other.

How do you ever expect to make this the thriving game it once was if you don't do your part.

Josias - get in chat and TEACH. NIX, I want to see you talking more...........Chiwoo, you too. All of you game greats. Veteran players.....split up and form feds and promote good competition amongst you. It is up to all of you, the community to shape this game.

I wish you luck, each and every one of you.

Ok Brother Aries.
A couple of questions.

1) If the wars are taking place on other worlds other that FB, what about the rules on the use of Nukes?

2) Am I right in thinking that each President takes over a Warrior C3 within range of each other (one defender one attacker)?

3) Are there rules on shuttling weapons, Ammo and supplies from non-combatant countries?

4) Is the limit of military assets to be used only limited to the countries capability to hold the weapons?

Peace&Hardcore Bro :)

1. Participants ultimately make the rules. Sponsors only fill in the details. Nukes are fair game unless the participants choose to disallow.

2. Check out my proposed scenarios on the War and Peace forum. They are my ideas for games. The participants can choose them as is, modify one for their match, or propose their very own scenario.

3. Another rule left for the participants. Unless they choose to disallow, shuttling is fair game.

4. Heh, a theme here. It is up to the participants to set any limitations such as this.

I think of the participants as prize fighters and their own promoters. See how I responded to Dub above:

"On the challenge thread, a participant basically says, "hey, i want to fight this guy at this place on these terms". the other participant says. "your on! who wants to see this?". The sponsor then might suggest modifications or simply say, "i would pay to see that". Based on the entertainment of the match, viewers might see a participant grow to warrant a bout against someone else in a higher class or demand a rematch."

I am not sure about using Nukes on other planets other than FB Bro....Or do surrounding countries no longer get effected by fall out?

I am a wee bit worried about The participants making the rules. We did this kind of thing years ago. I think it was Northern hemisphere v's southern...or something like that. The rules were no transferring or setting up direct sales of weapons from a non combatant country's.
The rules were broken.

I worry, that dues to the complexity of the game and therefore the rules.... cheating, breaking of words and accusations will create bad feelings within the game further down the road.

Maybe it should be.

1) Each combatant takes a Warrior C3 at the level/population size they want to fight with. The combatants can fight with what ever size country they choose. If I choose to fight with L3 C3 and my opponent wants to fight with a L11 so be it.

2) The difference in class is simply where the countries are situated and the prize in the defending country.
Class A border each other. Prize $5T.
Class AA are separated by a country. Prize $10T.
Class AAA by separated by sea. Prize $20T.

3) The sponsor is the defending combatant. When the attacker has taken the country they copy and paste the victory on the Forum then decline to take the country.
The sponsor then cancels all buying orders, re-balances the books (some might leave the attacker with a debt bomb), demilitarizes (it is up to the attacker to ensure the sponsor has not made a mistake in de-garrisoning), before declaring war on the attackers C3 and transferring the prize money to the country for the attacker to claim.

4) No other rules.

I say all of 3 because has the GM not stopped us from transferring assets to others?

Also why have I been pitted against Drys bro?
I am a sponsor and also he lives in the USA. I hate fighting peeps from the USA due to living in the UK lol :(
I'm sure we will come to a time agreement for black-outs, work and sleep....but I would rather fight Crafty as he lives where I live :)

I am still cool with participants making the rules. They already have the power to annoy neighbors if they can do it over the course of the match. They can choose to be comfortable with the match with their opponent or police a set of rules they agree to between them.

I think what you have there is a possible scenario. Post it to the War and Peace forum as an option.

I just said I would like to see you and Drys in a match. It is up to you guys. The rest of the sign-ups were somewhat newer guys. I know Drys is okay with it. heh

If you can get Crafty in a match, that would be cool too.

Brother Aries....'I just said I would like to see you and Drys in a match.' Is like a red rag to a bull.
Plus you classed me AAA. What was I going to do bro? say no? LOL :)
Your right bro.
I will post it in the war and peace forum as scenario FU 1 :) LOL I'm drunk bro :)
Then who thinks that their hard enough in UK time zone can have a pop at the reward :)

I'm just a bit touchy about time zones after the battle with The Coalition of tree haters.
1 was in UK. 1 in EU and 2 in USA.
24/7 battle for over 1 month.
If a bro sis from across the pond needs a war then I'll play ....but for fun I know a UK based war has more chance of us both being on at the same time.

Wait a minute????
Are you saying you would sponsor a fight between me and Drys?
Have I just completely missed the point?
