People need to come into chat more often otherwise this happens....

ultravires: hello?
supersoldierrcp: can you hear me?
supersoldierrcp: I've been wondering if after all this time you would like to chat with me... to go over, everything.... On how we used to play SC and create our strategies
supersoldierrcp: Its so different, with war levels... Keeping all of us apart
supersoldierrcp: HELLO FROM SECURE MODE!!!

Hey Super, long time no see! Glad to see you're still around.

I've been on chat a few times but it's been lonely. I'll make an effort to come online more!

Chat needs to produce noise when people make messages. It's kind of pointless to sit AFK in chat these days, because you never notice when people come on.

Chat needs to be allways open next to side menue or something like that like in any modern browser game that has chat.

Good suggestions.
I'm going to go over this with an engineer tomorrow to see what can we do about implementing these.

@Borg so like permanently open on every page? Like on Facebook? I like this idea a lot.

If you would like to see this game EXPLODE in popularity, have the GM sponsor a voice chat channel. The Internet has long passed by purely text based games. Let players actually talk to each other and this game will go through the roof.

Simcountry remains unmatched in complexity, I have no doubt in saying that, but without a way to readily consult with other players, most new players are driven away due to lack of understanding. Text just isn't conducive to getting them over the first hump of utter confusion that new players invariably experience with a game of this level of detail.

For experienced players, true strategy needs discussion that swapping text posts just can't emulate.

Also, if this was in voice-chat I wouldn't be pathologically compelled to point out the fact that the topic of this thread contains a basic grammatical error that makes me want to smash my forehead into my keyboard.

Seems like a good idea UV, but tbh, in my experience with games like EvE online, it's mostly federations which do that sort of thing. A fed with a Skype call or Mumble would be pretty cool.

Yup, my federation on KB uses google hangouts and did voice group calls a few times back when I first joined. Having voice for chat would be nice preferably for private direct chatting or fed/cm chat. Also, I think it would be nice if the gms scheduled a time like 15 mins to an hour of their own free time to engage in chat with the community. Right now not enough use chat. Which is upsetting. Most if not all experienced players give advice freely to help new players. Using chat when I started helped me a bunch when a simple message/forum post wasn't enough to understand. I get on chat a few times day but always seem to miss people.

Voice chat might be best left up to feds themselves. If we provided that we'd have to moderate it somehow.

I'll discuss hosting a periodic chat session with the rest of the team.
I'd have to do this together with an engineer to be able to answer anything you throw at us.
Can't promise anything. Will report back on this.

Either way, trains would have to be a taboo subject.

....Why do we have train tracks and no trains?

Chat needs sound.
A ding, a ring, a beep, anything.
