The White Giant Server broke down and must be replaced.
An engineer is using one of our "sleeping" servers, installing the White Giant world.

The work is on going and White Giant will be restored ASAP.

We are very sorry for the problem.

All other worlds are doing fine.

Can we get more information about why our corporations have since gone short because there doesn't seem to be any trading happening.

Same here, emigration and money loss is getting crippling.

GM's need to do something as this is gonna kill some enterprises as well as countries. They need to reset the server back to the day prior to the server crashing. At least that should fix some of the devastation that's come about.

It'd also be great to actually hear something from the powers-that-be regarding what's being done and how we'll be reimbursed for lost population, lost profit, and in some cases, spent and wasted gold coins.

Don't buy for the corps - buy for the ent/country, then trade it to your corps. It's way quicker.

GM's,
What is the risk of a server meltdown affecting the other worlds (which thank God) has not happened yet. Want measures are being done to prevent a future breakdown. Thanks for your time.

Should we begin mass exodus from the planet? I too would like to know how exactly we are going to be compensated for our losses. As Lee mentioned above, I would have to tend to 75+ corporations (condolences to all the people losing 10x what I have) and simply don't have the time to micromanage.

They really ought to reset the server back to a day prior to the crash. This is simply game ruining.

Is there a possibility where the corps will just close down due to this lack of fluidity? Meaning some people are on a ticking bomb? I mean I don't currently mind 50K+ people emigrating per month, but the idea that the significant amount of public and private corps in my country could close is disturbing.

Our apologies for the delay in public response.
We've been working hard on finding and solving the issue.

I'll post again as soon as we have some concrete information to share.

-30T in assets, -4 million people later and a huge employment crisis ahead... This is great.

All consequential losses that members of the game on White Giant have suffered as a result of the server issues would need to be corrected if it is something that wouldn't have occurred anyway under the normal game mechanics. I'm sure the GM will be able to put something in place to calculate how countries would have performed under the normal nature of the game mechanics when members would have been able to monitor and make decisions to their country in real time 24/7, and how countries have performed based on the time factor of when members weren't able to get access to their country to monitor and make decisions.

A better solution is to have the GM donate to the WG security council and then loosen the rules for a few months. Like remove the aid restrictions and up the maximum cash aid amount to $10T. Then let the players of WG identify who is in need and vote to allocate their own recovery grants.

While I like that idea Aries, it would involve a LOT of voting on the security council, a council that for all intents and purposes seems to be dead now. It'd probably just be easier to donate 500k worth of citizens and $1T or so to each active country.

I wish the security council was more active or that it had a greater impact within the game.

My citizens on WG are filing a class action lawsuit for emotional damages due to financial hardships, lowered quality of life... and negative supply of fruit juice! that was the last straw... (yes, drinking straw)

It's 4am and I swear Matt's avatar is dancing

Seriously, I think the financial aid idea would be more manageable. I don't think the engineers would be able to do a sweeping "fix" for everyone, (i'm not opposed to it though) but applying for aid with a raised cap makes sense to me.

I like Matt's idea. My country has gone belly up. And I am not putting anything into it till I know the WG world is fixed. The lack of silence and response from everyone is appalling. Better communication is needed.
Don't know whether I should cancel my WG country or not.

I think each country should be given a population and money based on a percentage off their current population and and net value

The loss in population tanked my economy more than any monetary loss during the crash, I lack professionals and workers on all levels... Thankfully, full coffers and seasoned share portfolio cushioned the fall.

A mix of the propositions WildStallion and Aries have voiced to compensate players should be pursued. Single monetary compensation can't solve a still ongoing problem in many countries & enterprises, and WildStallion's version wouldn't save the economies that flatlined due to the chain of events the server fail caused. I speculate that enterprises were probably the most affected by this, as seen by the list of entities I loaned money to (9 out of 10 being enterprises), however I'm not aware if that's normal, I don't usually loan tbh. Can the Security Council aid enterprises?

Oh and fix the maps? They're all blank.

We still haven't gotten a follow-up to Jonni's post from a few days ago, so for the time being it's safe to assume they might still be pondering how best to address the problem.

Someone let me know whenever that determination is made. I'm going to go dig my economy out of the hole.

Hope some kind of message will come from the GM's soon. I'd definitely like an explanation of what happened and why. Compensation would be nice if only to rescue and retain new players.

and yes, my avatar is quite the dancer. LOL

I just thought I'd point out that I've noticed for awhile now that the map overlay on that world is non-functional, specifically that it does not display blue/red empires and green countries.

Oh yeah that issue has been mentioned for the past month and it has gone unanswered.
Maybe the GMs are waiting for the people to forget.
