I am not sure how the game decides when a country needs help and will auto-build corps even when the option is shut off, but it is really one of the least helpful features in the game. I have seen the gm posts that it is only done as a last resort when a country is nearing bankruptcy but I have to say this simply isn't true.
First, my countries are no where near bankrupt and often make profit even when the auto-building occurs. They have positive net cash and positive monthly income. They may have a negative cash balance at the moment, but isn't that my problem? Why does the game care how many unemployed workers I have? Isn't that my problem also?
Second, and more importantly, the game chooses the worst possible corps to build. I have lost count of how many airforce maint corps I have closed down. They require stealth bombers as a supply and they can't be bought on LU. I am not interested in setting up the supply chain for this. If I was interested, don't you think I would have done it myself? I am sure the corp could be profitable but I don't want to deal with the stealth issue. How does an auto-build decision make a corp that can't be supplied on the world? How is that supposed to "help" my country?
The other corp the game loves to auto-build to "help" is military base maint. This, at least, can be supplied on the world. Unfortunately, it requires defense forts, strat airports, and start military bases. All are in huge short supply and take many months to deliver. Again, I am not interested in building the supply chain to ensure these corps are supplied so I close them. THIS IS NOT HELPFUL!
If the game absolutely MUST auto-build, might I suggest they build corps that the president is already building? Or maybe corps that can be easily supplied on the world? Better yet, stay the heck out of my country and stop trying "help" me! |

Figuring profit/loss per month is the real culprit (. It would be very nice if the game narrowed the scope. But then, you could wind up with 12 potato corportions instead, and have to shut them down as well. |
