SimCountry on IRC

The title pretty much says it all. The only thing I find lacking in this game thus far is the chat system. Not much in the way of features or security. I guess I am old fashioned, I like to know who I'm speaking with when I speak to them.

IRC is a great tool to use when you want a secure platform for chat, planning and even diplomacy. Once you register your nickname you will also be able to register your own rooms, for purposes ranging from federation communication to business opportunities.

I have started a public room on the Rizon server named #scpublic. Once you identify with your in-game nickname, you'll be recognized in the room as an actual player in simCountry.

I use an IRC conduit called IceChat. There are several to choose from, and never, ever actually pay for this. There are plenty of free ones out there. A quick google search will help you choose one.

I have also added a triviabot and an internets bot. The internets bot has the ability to search over these sites: Google, Bash, Qdb, UrbanDictionary, and FML.

Ok, in order to address some of the registration complaints I have gotten, I'm going to throw a short tutorial here to make it easier for some folks to get identified on IRC.

When you enter IRC, you'll likely be nicknamed Guest with a 5 digit number after your name. If your name isn't guest in game, you won't be needing this suggestion. So, here is the process:
(Do this in the server screen area, not in a chat room. You have to set a password and if you do it wrong, your chosen password will appear in the chat room you're in.)

1. Change your nick. You can do this by entering /nick {your nick} without the brackets, ofc. Note: Anytime I use brackets here, please remember that they are not entered when you perform the action, just your name. If you have a two-part name, underscores can be used.

2. The system will notify you in the next line if you can retain that nickname or if it is owned by someone e

You're all set, you should be able to open the client, connect to the server and identify your nick. Should even still be listed under the nick you chose. As soon as it connects you should be able to do /msg nickserv identify (password) and you should be set. As far as Andy goes, I can walk him through it like I did for you, just have him show up in the sc chat and we can go from there.

Right now my son is displeasing me as he has NOT responded to my last post. lol He must be on vacation. Well that displeases me too, as I am NOT on vacation! ha ha ha ha

Uh, apparently most of you did NOT heed my request!!!! Dun make me angry. It ain't purty!!! I am trying to be in the IRC room at 3 PM CST each day, M-F, in hopes that more of you will come and talk to each other. We talk about everything.

That is what this game is lacking these days!! The best part of this game has always been the community. I'd like to see that again. So please contribute. I know you have busy schedules, but I promise you, the experience is rewarding.
