What are they?

Have to be premium to get coin awards past level 3.

I no longer see a cash -> coins option on direct trading, which means your account can no longer pay for itself except for selling off population (I assume that is still possible for players?), and this game is NOT worth paying even $4 a month for. It was barely worth that in 2006, and it definitely isn't in 2018!

The war game is effed up because of war levels.

Activity is low. Chat is always empty, forums are dying.

Federations are still a mess in terms of organization and effectiveness. Also, see war levels.

CMs are a joke.

Loan interest is still a joke, and wasn't the rationale for lowering it to a real-world % rate based on the exchange of game cash to GCs, and the ability to cash out GCs - which has been long removed. I remember one of those w3c buffoons, I can't recall which, trying to explain in the IRC how this was still a great deal since you don't get 12% per year back in the real world anywhere.

What did the space trade ever add to the game?

The world economy and corporations are still convoluted. The only things it appears W3C have done are to lower overall profitability (in terms of absolute cash relative to years ago) and tweak the quality formula so that buying above 190 has an effect now... but the fundamental problem with the whole product quality system still remains: WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF BUYING MAX QUALITY IF IT NO LONGER RAISES YOUR OWN QUALITY, thereby increasing your corp profitability. There is a disconnect somewhere, namely, who is buying 250+ quality goods, except for their military? [P.S. This means there are still some pretty broken ways to game the world econ system that were never publicly leaked - not hard to figure out if you read the docs and use the info the game gives you.]

These are not new observations. These are all things pointed out by past players: Laggy, Pink, Barney, Claws, Dac, DGoE, Sam, Wild... Yank? Never talked to Yank much but I see he's still around... the list goes on...

So, while I have been amused for a week or two, I find myself asking - what are the reasons to play this game at all, even casually?

I do not ask rhetorically. I want someone to persuade me. Convince me, even, to spend $12 to go premium.

Now most companies use like 200k workers and make very little in profit especially for CEOS. Country resources used take it all. Country is not bad but need CEO companies to have special schools and special hospitals. Don't go crazy on airforce maintain unless you can supply yourself.

We play this game because we're all stuck in the 90's. The developers are putting a lot of effort in this game. We as players however don't see where they spend their time or what actually improves... Still they say they spend a lot of time on this game... Sigh...

I hate physical fitness jobs cause of all damn body aches, crap, and its friggin boring.
I don't give a damn about big friggin pickup trucks, Dodge, Muscle Cars, Alcohol, Tobacco or friggin SSI. I never workout.
