Certain products on KB are suspiciously high in surplus. HT services, services, software, etc are all flooding the markets while corps begin to see serious losses. What is going on with this game? Bad enough we have countries overpopulated that are unmanageable.
This game has gone to hell.

I have noticed that when a project is in huge shortage, all the C3 countries tend to mass produce those corporations, eventually leading to surplus. Then they will start closing down in time. Just weather the storm.

By the way if you are looking for a product that almost never leaves shortage and makes great profit, build oil corporations.

Look at the graph for the supply. On WG there was billions of Air Transport put on the market across several days. I doubt that a player would have that quantity and why would they keep selling after the price dropped.

It looks like a glitch or maybe the GM is trying to adjust the markets.

John I have a strong suspicion that Oil will crash just like Electric, FMU and Air Transport have.

Oil hasn't crashed in real life years so I'm not too worried about it. Oil is only required by 5 corporations, but the products those corporations produce are required by almost everything, which means oil is needed in pretty much every production process in the game. That's why I have so much confidence in it.

Nobody seems to be talking about it much, I'm having a hard time believing that nobody else's corps are not suffering.
I can see how it's pulsing, as soon as it's corrected, someone drops more to cause the prices to drop again. This is deliberate and completely stupid.

GM, I'm betting it could be a glitch, take a look.

We experienced a similar thing to what you are describing on LU, several months/a year ago.

Products see a sudden jump in supply, as if someone dumped a whole lot on the market. Then it corrects, only for another dump to take place.

Basically, it's caused by how the game handles failing nations, when the player hasn't logged in for a long time. If a nation is losing money, the game can automatically sell off it's stockpiles, in order to free up some cash, to keep the nation operating.

Normally when this happens, the effect on the market is small, so nobody notices, and it solves the nation's cash problem. However, when the player has a huge empire and large stockpiles. Then it can have a big impact, because veteran players can sometimes have gigantic stockpiles, that they have built up over the years.

It happened to LU, when Aries left, and his nation's fell apart and started dumping his stockpiles on the market. We just had to ride it out. Once the stocks have been depleted, and there is no more to sell, everything goes back to normal.

Im on WG and I had both FM and Electric corps collasp. I just rode it out lost one FM corp and since lost another of a diffferant type. My problem right now is too many LLW and trying to gt employment back up with my current worker imblance

When the powers that be started playing with population growth last summer, I found myself building lots of mining corps just to create jobs for the LLW boomers until I could get education levels up. One warning, though--the oil deficit on WG has shrunk radically in the last couple of days, so we could see an oil surplus there as well.

Well, you got your wish, birth rates began falling sharply yesterday. I assume the GM has reduced birth rates. This will likely slow population growth, and result in smaller maximum populations.

Yes, if Aries has a large empire on KB, that will be why KB is experiencing product dumping. It happened on to his empire on LU earlier. Just ride it out, once his stockpiles are sold off, things should return to normal.

GM, this is probably for a number of reasons, some of them stated above. Either because of mass selloffs from closed countries or just willful dumping. Whatever the reason, this may warrant some intervention since this is becoming devastating. Combined with the massive influx of people just draining resources, it's starting to cripple my economies. I've never come so close to feeling like I should close up shop, because this has become a stacked deck that I cannot deal with. In the past I have always weathered the storm, but this is all out pulverizing...

The product dumps have now reached LU. Roughly 12 hours ago real time, or between Jan and Feb 4213 LU Time. Many core products received increases in supply of several billion units, in the space of a single game month.

Some of the products effected, and amounts dumped, in a single game month, are listed below.
Air Transport ~9 Billion units
Software ~4 Billion units
Electric Power ~2 Billion units
Cable TV ~1 Billion units
Construction ~12 Billion units
High Tech Services ~7 Billion units
Internet ~7 Billion units
Services ~18 Billion units
Telephone ~4 Billion units
Sport ~3 Billion units
Military Services ~8 Billion units

Currently, I have plenty of cash and resources to ride out this market crash. However, many other players may not be in such a good position, especially if it happens multiple times in a row. Of particular note is the fact that many of the products effected, have large markets (services, electric power, construction, high tech services), so this will likely have far reaching effects on the economy, and effect a large number of player corporations.

I agree Daniel, I also from LU.
I don't like the trade market has been manipulate so widely.
but I do doubt someone did done some convenient way for everyone which is put many of products with so huge of supplies, let the products price goes lower.
.
I know it's benefits most of just new join counties.

But, there's unfair to especially some counties already doing so hard to developing those corporations from none to loss in beginning then become small positive income.

Therefore, now the market says sorry your those efforts has becomes all loss...again...

WELL, NEVERMIND WHAT ANYONE DID IT, ALWAYS HAS A STORY TO TELL.

Let's assume it's GM did, and it just lack a way to tells to all of presidents, isn't it?

as a GOOD president, we're always provide better solutions.

Well, for the absolutely first time in 6 actual years with my current empire I now have "bankrupt" countries. Revenues plummeted to the point where even ent corps couldn't help due to the persistent chaos in the markets. Most of us can agree. The staggering population explosions DEVASTATED my economies despite repeated calls to it's attention. The population tsunami didn't serve any purpose than to wreak havoc imo.
For the first time I'm about to join every other long time player and say, to hell with it.. all of that time, and money and effort meant Nothing..

i get you here bro but you had 80 counties. the pop explosion would have been amazing if you only had 10 or less to deal with. Every faq in this games says its not meant for players like us with massive amounts of countries. it wont stop us but says it will make it EXTREMELY hard past 15 countries.

Oh trust me, I know. I've maintained far more than 15 countries for years. I'd say I had about 80 for about 2 years actually. At least 60 for longer than that. Every hurdle thrown at me was a challenge that I figured out how to deal with and adapt. Unfortunately, these new changes and conditions (population surges and ongoing chaos for market prices) have dealt massive amounts of damage. It's like someone figured out how to undermine what was once considered very hard, or at least impossible. I'd like to think I had the largest contiguous empire, for the longest amount of time in SC history. Even though the GM did not like it, and that the odds were stacked against me.
I made my own "game"; my own objectives and had motivations that were not in line with what was set out for us.
It was a fun, defiant ride.

Evader- I wish that were the case. Couple of things to double check, under automation you can switch off auto building corps. However there is more, you need to also un-check the options to have workers moved to different corps, etc. That also auto builds corps, not many know that.

Update on the markets in LU.

Several of the products have returned to normal, some are still in heavy oversupply. I was surprised how little of an impact it had on my overall profitability.

I make sure my economy is extremely diversified. So crashes in a few product markets can't cripple my economy. Additionally, I find it's helpful to produce products that are major inputs to other corporations (but don't actually contract the supplies). That way, when a product falls/rises in price, then it has a much smaller impact on your overall profitability.

Example:
Services are used by many corporations. When services fall in price, those companies become more profitable. This can help offset the loss of profits in your services corporations. Producing many product types, and their inputs, makes you much less vulnerable to price movements.


On the issue of population growth. It is really only an issue if you don't build Corporations, and infrastructure to keep up. When the population boom began, I started building Corporations every day. And ordering new Education/Healthcare/Infrastructure much more frequently.

Because of the increase in the number of Corporations, and the reduction to the % of the population over 65, it has actually made my country more profitable long term.

The only real crisis, is if you 1). don't build corps etc, and let unemployment get out of control. Or 2). were so low on cash, that you couldn't begin expanding your country when the new population arrived.

That's why it's important to keep a large cash buffer. So that you have the room to adapt to changes and crisis. A country running it's cash reserves low in the good times, is asking for trouble when a downturn comes.

The population changes could certainly of been implemented better. A more gradual introduction of changes, would of allowed people to build up their countries at a reasonable speed, instead of being blindsided.

While it has been a big challenge, it's far from impossible for a player to adapt to.

My population increased more than x3 over the period of the population boom. Often growing at close to 1,000,000 population per game year. This made it unnecessarily difficult to keep up.

Even so, I've still been able to maintain indexes +140, unemployment below 5%, and my profits have risen to 70-120 Billion $ per month.

If I hadn't been building Corps, Schools, Hospitals, etc. And had left my education index too low, then yes, I'd been in ruins. But keep on top of those, and things go swimmingly, even at 1,000,000 pop growth per game year.

Actually, players with an advanced understanding of the war mechanics at that time often preferred ships (not nukes).
