Does anyone have a plan on what will happen when all of the natural resource corporations start closing? There are massive shortages in all mining products on every world right now. I have not discovered a single new deposit of natural resources yet. You are asking players to wage war to get more resources, but you have essentially made PVP war impossible with war levels, and wars with C3 get harder after each successive war, eventually becoming impossible. Waging C3 wars for resources is not sustainable after the first few wars. I have hundreds of corporations now in shortage of raw materials, and I am sure others are experiencing the same. I have been boosting the nuclear power industry, and now uranium is essentially impossible to get on LU and FB due to the massively increased demand for it to give you one example. What is the plan here?

I have a few possible solutions:
1) Roll back the update and go back to unlimited mining resources.

2) Allow players to wage C3 wars at War Level 3 at any time. This would make it possible for players to have a sustainable way to acquire new natural resources. I am telling you straight up Andy that I simply cannot acquire new natural resources at War Level 20. The cost to conquer the country is multiple times greater than the value of the resources. War Level 3 wars should only be possible for players who have achieved War Level 3 status, as that would encourage them to come out into the open at WL3 and not hide behind the free war protection it provides. I truly believe war levels are destroying your game, but you guys are hell bent on keeping this system, so I think we need to encourage players as much as possible to get to war level 3 and stop hiding. I refuse to pay 30 gold coins to take a C3, just to get a few natural resources that will run out because it is simply not worth it. I would make more money buying electric power on the direct trade market and selling it. So while that is a nice feature, it is not enough to solve this problem.

3) Go back to unlimited natural resources, but each country should only have access to a few resources. They would have to take other countries with different resource specialties if they want to produce them. This is kind of a blend of the new system and the old system.

My preferred solution would be number 2. I like the system, and I like wars. Encouraging wars would do wonders for this game, even if only against weak C3s. The military aspect of this game is seriously the best thing you guys have done. Moving units around, airlifting/airdropping, navies, all of it is extremely well done and you need to do more to show it off. Otherwise this is just a spreadsheet simulator.

There are many places in each world where natural resources are available.

all natural resources are available in large numbers.

I am not aware of a problem with PvP wars.
please explain and tell me what you are unable to do and I will look into it.

Natural resources will be added shortly, depending on the availability of locations.

we know how many should be available and will add if numbers decline.

I have seen that you have many §nat. resources corporations that are producing huge profits.
Their market value increased a lot.

this issue has positive and negative effects.
The negative effects can be taken care of.

If someone, with a single country is cooperating with you, conquers several countries where the resources you need are available and contracts them to you, the situation will improve.

Purchasing a country with a lot of natural resources remains 30 gold coins.
having some with natural resources, can help you win large gold coin awards.

Sorry Andy I made some edits to my post so hopefully you got them all.

There are massive problems with PVP right now. On every world, 99% of the players are below war level 3, so PVP is impossible.

Yes I am making lots of profits, but I am not thinking about right now. I am thinking about what happens when all the old resources run out. New production is not happening, despite the massive availability of resources in the ground. The C3s do not seem to be building them fast enough. And again, purchasing a country for 30 gold coins to obtain a few natural resources is simply not worth the cost. I would be better served trading gold on the direct market for electric power to sell.

I really want you to take a look at what is happening on Fearless Blue. Come on to the discord chat and see how active it is becoming. Everyone is excited for the war level change you have proposed on FB. The world is coming alive because of it, and it hasn't even happened yet. Players want wars. You are not listening. You have created this really cool natural resource system that is dependent on players waging war to get more resources, yet you have made war all but impossible. You need to do something about this or there will be massive economic problems down the line.

LU

I have never seen mining resources in this much shortage on LU before. Look at oil. It is at 15 billion shortage. Between Johanas and myself, we account for well over 50% of LU oil production. What is going to happen when all our corporations close down on the same day? Will there be enough new production? I seriously doubt it because the shortages are epic right now and no new production is happening. How will an even bigger shortage change that?

oil

To further clarify what I am saying. This is the number of oil corporations currently on LU. Notice it is declining despite the massive shortages.

I think the reason C3s are not tapping into their natural resource supplies is because they are already at peak employment from all their other corporations, so they have no room for new ones to build.

It is going to be a bumby ride. I still like the system but I find it hard to accept that I either have to spend 30gc'for a few resources (which is not worth it) or that I have to buy them from somebody else who is also going to need them.

It would have been a lot more fun if it was possible to wage wars vs c3s for these resources at a fixed war lvl. I do not care if that is 3/4/10 or whatever as long as it doesn't keep increasing.

It has to be at a low war level or else it won't be economical. I think WL3 is the best spot for it. Plus let's motivate people to get to WL3 so this game isn't a total snooze fest.

My plan has been hoarding, so far. Buying up strategic reserves of critical materials so that my corporations can continue to produce as the price of everything reaches for the sky. Eventually I will need to shutdown every corporation I run, but in the meantime I'm doing IPOs so as to get maximum cash value for them before I do so.

Finally, I will be going into Bond lending since that's a guaranteed 0.005% return per game month and with everything becoming comically expensive and unavailable, massive debt is going to be the boom market for a while.

I think that after the major collapse w3c will just increase production output few times and once more increase price range. After the changes mining corporations will make 7-10B/month but for shorter time than now.

10B profit corporations will be targeted by new players as this nice income will help them grow until mining will not be needed. It will be better than newcomers booster.

I don't have a problem with the natural resource system. I think it is a cool idea. There is just no feasible way for players to obtain more in the long term. C3 wars will dry up when they become too difficult. Raiding inactives is impossible due to war levels. Fighting active players won't be feasible either as they will likely have already tapped out their resources (if they know what they are doing).

War Level 3 wars against C3s need to be possible at all times. Also, perhaps a compromise on war levels since you guys are hell bent on keeping this system. Players who are inactive for greater than 60 days should lose protection offered to them by their low war level. This would allow all those players who join for a day and quit to be raided for their resources.

The flow would be to take c3, build mining corporations, issue ipo and take over corporations shares with CEO, abandom country, repeat. My concern is cost to take c3 and profitability of mining corp which is way too little right now, while cost of taking c3 us high at high levels. There should be some rebalance of this.

War level 3 C3s should be fairly cheap to take. I think you could be profitable if we had that option.

War lvl 3 right now takes just 1 well supplied offensive anti air unit and 600 bombers. That is not just cheap that is almost a free give away.

I am curious what is going to happen... we will wait and see...

Andy, John Galt,

I think a compromise is needed. War levels, or war permanent war protection of some kind. Is extremely important, for the players that don't play Simcountry as a war game.

Honestly, I have no interest in fighting war, and if forced to, I would probably quit the game when my country got bombed, or just from the stress of having to constantly defend it. I have a life, I can't be available to be online whenever someone decides it'd be fun to start dropping bombs. Meanwhile automatic defense wouldn't stop a determined attacker. Considering the vast majority of Simcountry players don't ever engage in war, I think a lot of people share this view.

At the same time, for those that do want war, a space should probably be provided. I would suggest keeping the peaceful/regular worlds as is. While removing most of the war restrictions on Fearless Blue. That way, each player can have the experience they want. War Game on Fearless Blue, regular Simcountry on the other worlds.

Daniel there is still secure mode. For players who dont want war, they could keep secure mode on and not have an empire. One secure country plus 4 CEOs can be an economic powerhouse with zero risk of war.

Essentially, preventing all wars because a few people want big empires without having to defend them is not a compelling argument for me. Is anyone here actually denying that this game was more vibrant before war levels were implemented?

The war system in this game is brilliant. It is a shame to see it so poorly executed however. Eliminating war levels and merging offensive and defensive weapons into unified dual purpose weapons would do wonders. Ending space travel of weapons would also level the playing field between old and new players and end the current practice of ceo weapon hoarding that makes war with established players essentially suicide.

Well, to put it in perspective. There are roughly 700 Presidents on LU. Only 89 of them, have ever fought a war, all others are war level 0. So for 87% of Simcountry Players, Simcountry is a purely peaceful game, they play the game, with no desire to fight war.

Of the 89 that have fought a war. 65 of them have never fought more than one, stopping after their first fight. So of the less than 13% that have had desire to fight a war, 73% decided it wasn't for them, after trying it. Leaving only 24 players that have fought more than 1 war, or roughly 3.4% of Simcountry players.

Of those 24 that have fought more than one war, only 13 went on to fight a third, and expose themselves to PvP. That's less than 2% of the player-base on LU, that given the choice, wanted to enter the PvP part of the game.

Of the 13 that are open to the idea, only 2 of them have actually fought a PvP war, since the introduction of the Best Warlord score system. That's less than 0.3% of the player-base.

So really, it's only 2% of players that even want the possibility of PvP, vs 87% of players, that don't want to engage with war at all. The 13 players that have any desire for PvP, are allowed to fight. They just can't attack the rest of Simcountry's players, who don't want to play a war game.

What that analysis is not considering are the amount of players who do not play this game because it is a total snooze fest due to the lack of war and interaction. Most of those peaceful players are inactive and likely quit after the first day. This game was much more active and lively when war was plentiful.

lol another problem with natural resources is that you wont let us take country's at game lvl 3 so for some its not financially worth it to raise there war lvl to take another country to produce resources ..... some one needs to take yall computers away and put you in a corner because every time you change something makes the game that much more complicated and not fun. war lvls, natural resources whats next ?????

Electric on LU is at 84% production capacity due to major oil shortages. When my oil corps close down I expect to see that number in the 40s. What will happen to the game economy when electric production tanks? Andy are you at all concerned about this?

This is a valid question. When the apocolypse happens 50 percent of LU's oil goes away overnight. Not sure how this is going to end Andy.
