According to Google, "the subjective experience of music across cultures can be mapped within at least 13 overarching feelings: amusement, joy, eroticism, beauty, relaxation, sadness, dreaminess, triumph, anxiety, scariness, annoyance, defiance, and feeling pumped up."

What are some of your favorites? List links here!

Anyone who knows me, knows that my favorite band of all time is:

Guns n Roses

One of my favs: Knockin' on Heaven's Door

This song makes me feel: relaxation, sadness and even joy when I play as I send a death threat to a Sim enemy that they soon will be "knockin' on heaven's door." ha ha ha

Thank you, for sharing. :-)

Music gets me through my work day, so I like to hear others' likes! Plus, my era in music was late 70s - 80s, so I like to hear what the younger generation listens to. Uh........because of my being a witch, I'm forever young!!!!!!! Age 29! That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!

Stairway to Heaven is great, Luciano. Never can go wrong with Led Zep!

Great tune, Banedon! They remind me a lot of Iron Maiden, which I liked!

My battle cry song I've posted under WG thread, but will post here. You know being Simcountry's Most Powerful Witch:

Seven Devils by Florence & The Machine:

When you hear this tune, you know I'm coming for you! ha ha ha Just so you know, The Wicked Lady is only my game persona. I'm not a witch in my real life. ha ha ha :P

In other music,

Country Rap is making a big splash here in Nashville, TN. Some call it Hick Hop! Yes, I get to brag about my Godson, who is one of such rappers. He is charting in both US and Australia. His stage name is Leroy Biggs. He is young in the business. He also writes lyrics, some #1 hits in the Country Music genre.

Other rappers that he has rapped with include: Ryan Upchurch, Adam Calhoun, Jelly Roll, Struggle Jennings (Waylon Jennings' grandson), Chucky V, & More. Here are some examples of the genre:

I loved ALL these songs!

I was just listening to Bon Jovi right before opening this thread, Comrade. lol Bon Jovi is awesome!!!!

@ Andy, my precious son, that was remarkable! They were outstanding. I'd like to hear more from them! If only I could figure out who they are! lol You'll have to tell me about your trip to Israel, one day! I can only live out seeing other countries through others' eyes!

@ My lord, Mndz........you can NEVER beat the Outlaws of Country Music!

This reminds me of one of my favorite George Jones' tunes, Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes (Yes, about shoes ha ha ha) This song came out in the lae 80s when I was working on Music Row in Nashville on a summer job, while I was home from college. I worked at Hank Williams, Jr. General Store.

Today's contributions from the Wicked One are some past and more recent sounds of Nashville, TN but NOT country music lol

WHITE ANIMALS - A fan favorite on the College Circuit in the 1980s. Although they never made it big time they are still followed by their fans today. They opened shows for the Kinks, The Ramones and Talking Heads. Source: https://www.allmusic.com/artist/white-animals-mn0001252067

This band formed in 1981 in Nashville and featured a past friend of mine, Perry Baggs, the drummer and backup vocalist. I worked with Perry for years at The Tennessean newspaper (when band took a break) when I was a news reporter. He even accompanied me to the office Christmas Party! This is a tribute in his loving memory. He died in 2012 from complications due to Diabetes. In 2008, the Americana Music Association honored the band with its Lifetime Achievement Award.

Hello Wicked Lady:

I love music and a particular song makes me live again when I feel weak.
The singer and composer is a famous Colombian artist, Carlos Vives.

The song "La tierra del olvido" (The Land Of Oblivion) have a universal message.

Im pretty sure that the author had inspiration in the novels of the great novelist Gabriel Garcia Marquez, specially in "100 years of solitude"

This is the link: https://youtu.be/8jtfXHadYIE

And this is the rough translation of the lyrics:

The Land Of Oblivion

Like the moon that illuminates
the paths in the night
like the leaves in the wind
like the sun that frightens the cold.
Like the earth to the rain
like the sea that awaits the river
that's how I hope for your return
to the land of oblivion.

Like a shipwreck, my fears
navigated into your gaze
the way you warn my senses
with your loving voice
with your child-like smile.
How you move my soul
how you leave me restless
how you steal my calmness.

You have the key to my heart
I love you more than my life
because without your love
I'll die.
You have the key to my heart
I love you more than my life
because without your love
I'll die.

Like the moon that illuminates
the paths in the night
like the leaves in the wind
like the sun that frightens the cold.
Like the earth to the rain
like the sea that awaits the river
that's how I hope for your return
to the land of oblivion.

You have the key to my heart
I love you more than my life
because without your love
I'll die.
You have the key to my heart
I love you more than my life
because without your love
I'll die.
I'll die
I'll die
I'll die
I'll die
I'll die.

You have the key to my heart
I love you more than my life
because without your love
I'll die.
You have the key to my heart
I love you more than my life
because without your love
I'll die.
(Oh, God!) I'll die
I'll die,
I'll die.
I'll die!
I'll die.

Dear Rigolico,

Thank you for contributing to the forum thread. I REALLY enjoyed this song! Thank you for giving me the translation. Beautiful message! I love music too. It warms the heart and soul.

Thank you for sharing! I love the Spanish language. I studied it in college, but I'm afraid all I can remember is Te quiero, Taco Bell. lol

I hope you share more! Would love to hear more Colombian music!

Thank you, Wicked Lady.

Im glad you enjoyed the song.

Well, the translation was from a web page; I cant translate more than 5 words in English by myself.

I love my language too, but its very complicated and whimsical (but beautiful, at least for me)...well, I think that explains the many slangs of every country in the world where people speak Spanish...specially Chileans (sorry Chileans brothers, but is true; and yes, they speak Spanish...but no one is sure) XD.

If I find another good song, I post it.

Best regards!

Dear Wicked Lady:

I remember a rock song played by a Chilean group, considering that in my previous post I made jokes about the Spanish (?) of our Chilean brothers.

The name of the song is: "Hay un limite" ("There is a limit"), performed by "Aleste".

And yes, incredibly they sing...in Spanish (?)

The link have translation to English and the video: https://lyricfluent.com/lyrics/aleste_hay_un_limite_english

Cheers!

Wicked Lady:

The next song was an incredible story. A few years ago we were going to the beach with some of my daughters, the car radio was on and I heard a song that I noticed one of the girls liked, and she said to me: "Daddy, that group is from Costa Rica." I was in shock, and I just replied: "Nice song."

Inside of me I thought she was wrong. When I could I checked on the web, and it was true, it is from a group from Costa Rica.

Song: "Burning Man" performed by "Patterns": https://youtu.be/B4h0pNiSh3A

Tiesto and Armin van Buuren are my go to for Trace/Techno

I've discovered another genre that I like, but I have no real idea what it's officially called, so I call it "Gothic Opera".

Representative groups:

Evanescence
Lacuna Coil
Sirenia
Delain
Nightwish
Within Temptation

Evanescence I knew about since just before the 2003 Dare Devil movie, and I discovered Lacuna Coil at OzzFest in 2004. The rest I found via Pandora and they... just hit a spot I didn't know existed.
