Its been a few centuries now, and there have been zero mobile officers offered in direct trading.
Why can't we build bases that develop officers and soldiers. This could be used to incentivize players to move up game and war levels. Requirements and limitation could be implemented.
Examples
1) Countries must be game level (4)
2) Countries must be war level (8)
3) Countries must have a standing army of 1 million+ for over ten game years.
Limitation
1) Countries would be limited to a max of two bases of each type. Officers training. Soldiers training. One base per 1 million
2) Officer base fully occupied 30,000 medium level managers. would graduate 3,000 thousand per game year. or 10% of students enrolled.
3) Soldier base fully occupied 100,000 low level workers would graduate 10,000 per year or 10%.

You would be able to freely exchange officers and soldiers between your countries or offer them for sale in direct trading.
You would not be allowed to discriminate against other players or countries when selling. Highest bid gets the men.

I find it perplexing that all the advent players who are always posting on the form have no suggestions, thoughts, or input concerning this topic. I was so looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

While its a good idea, your current suggestion would destabilize the mobile soldier game model.

Only two or three players would be need to dump massive amounts of professionals on the market and those at the higher war levels would be able to easily suppress any resistance from upcoming producers.

Personally, the GM should just add professional soldiers as "loot" when you win a C3 war. After maybe war level 10 each time you beat a c3 you gain a unit with a small amount of professionals in the form of a random air force/land unit. If you win one unit per c3 war it does not really make a huge difference and the resources for a level 10 or higher does take some planning.

---or---

We should have the chance to change units into professional soldiers via upgrades. Lets say any player after war level 7 and a unit with 445 or higher fighting level can be converted for 1GC into professional soldiers at a rate of 25% of the troop count.
This would mean while you still spend a GC, instead of a major GC cost its more a long term financial cost of the player having a large standing army being upgraded over time.

not sure if these mobile units make difference, i have won war against country with millions of them with no problem.

it would be nice to be allowed to train them but their role in war must be changed too.

Only difference is you can build units of conventional missile launchers and nuclear defence missiles. Putting professionals in regular units is a waste of GCs.

Interesting views, Lord Mndz I hope to stay on your good side. Mobile units are expensive, the problem is they die just as fast as any other soldier they are good for two maybe three rounds. If your fighting a skilled opponent maybe two. My mistake while experimenting with them, I had not planned well for the reserve that were needed. I waited over two hundred game years and still not a single officer was available (Direct trading.) Yes you could still bid for them, but this did not seem to work either. I ended up dismantling the units. A loss of real money and time. I would like to see a robust debate / discussion by the player to formulate some ideas on how the GM could address this situation. I would like to see it used to push players to set goals too reach for higher war and game levels. I want to thank you for responding. I hope others will voice there opinions even if against these type of changes.
Remember open debate without fear of reprisal is what keeps us free.

The mobile units are horrible for offense. The largest ones containing only 670 weapons. Long Range Divisions, for example, has a maximum of 1,380. Trades at that point are going to be flat-out unsustainable. I don't view the mobile defense units as particularly viable, either. Not sure what else professional soldiers are used for, but if it's only mobile units, I don't see a point. I've never seen a guide, player or anyone actually talk about or use them. I honestly forgot it was a thing.

I'd think professional soldiers would give a multiplier/bonus to the weapon system they're attached to. Make the weapons more "accurate" by using less rounds per shot, or take better trades against defenses.

Edit: The mobile nuclear defense unit looks interesting, but I believe the range in which it responds to attack is pathetic.

The only advantage I know of is that mobile unit fighting level caps at 600q I believe, and you can store mobile units as a complete unit in your space center to store in your enterprise. Since that's how they're sold on the space market. So yes, they have a quality advantage and cost no maintenance. However the cost is not worth it unless you're willing to spend a lot of gold coins for them and risk losing them in pvp.

I've seen players simply request for professional soldiers and officers publicly in the forum. The GM would then put some up for sale. Not sure why they haven't for so long.
