W3C - Automated interventions

Simcountry has an extensive system of checks that is designed to prevent countries from failing.

That system can be turned off, on the automation page and it is automatically turned off for countries in game level 4 and up.

Despite the possibility to turn automation off, certain conditions always survived and kept working for players in the initial playing period, or when countries were close to bankruptcy.

It causes complaints and irritations and it is not worth the trouble.

We have now searched and found several such interventions and turned them off.

Interventions are now dependent on a player setting them on, using the automation page.
there, you can ask for such interventions and turn several parts of such interventions on or off.

We hope that everything now depends on these automation parameters.

The system is quite large and it is very thorough in the way it works and it is possible

This bugs me. The only automation I had on was to transfer workers and to help with the transportation sector. But I keep checking and see that there are no teachers, no doctors, no matter how I juggle the numbers for training. Here is what is happening:

Thu Mar 5, 4649 Due to a lack of Senior Doctors, Bella Donna was unable to maintain its Hospitals. Their number has been reduced from 417 to 412 hospitals.

Thu May 5, 4649 Due to a lack of Senior Doctors, Bella Donna was unable to maintain its Hospitals. Their number has been reduced from 418 to 416 hospitals.

Even without the automated system checked, it is still ordering hospitals despite the fact that I don't have enough workers. I have to continually cancel these automatic orders and there is like 10 orders all stacked up by 6's from every month I wasn't on. I haven't had automation on for hospitals for real life weeks. It is annoying because it also hurts

Thanks for modifying the code to take care of this issue. It did cause my country to have a shortage of low level managers. This should be taken care of with time. If I see something similar at a later date I will let you know.
Thanks again.

To have enough professional to grow, you need a high education index and the numbers also depend on the size of the population.

Most players get the education and its priorities where they want them to be and have sufficient numbers.

If you want me to look into it, please give me the name of the country and world name.
I will look into it and let you know.

It seems that the last update got us closer to a better balance of workers numbers.

The countries I use to test, do not need any interventions for several game months.

I mentioned before that when there are large numbers of unemployed professional and a shortage of LLWs, reducing the education priorities for the groups with many unemployed will reduce the numbers of LLWs that are educated away from that group.

There is also automatic tuning each game month that reduces the numbers of unemployed professionals and moves them back into the LLWs group.

The logic behind this is, that if professionals are unemployed, and there are many of them unemployed, then they prefer to take a different, simpler job rather than remain unemployed.

So what you see in such cases is that the LLWs group is growing again.

The numbers I saw in the test countries showed a slow return to work due to the better balance but the pro

Just to be clear:

there are two issues here.
One is the balancing of the workers numbers.

The other is the automatic building features you try to stop.

We are eager to hear about problems on both issues.

Hi Andy-

I understand what you are saying, but if I can't control automatically making schools and hospitals and businesses, which it did, then I can't get things in balance. It is still making hospitals and schools apparently. The schools aren't ordered in my trades. But here is what I see in my newspaper:

Thu May 5, 4650 Due to a lack of Teachers, Bella Donna was unable to maintain its Highschools. Their number has been reduced from 5951 to 5917 highschools.

Thu Jun 5, 4650 Due to a lack of Teachers, Bella Donna was unable to maintain its Highschools. Their number has been reduced from 5967 to 5932 highschools.

As you can see somehow 50 schools were made despite the fact that I don't have any teachers.

It also reduces my teacher ed priority to 15 when I had it at 20. Very frustrating. The current snafu with workers was due to the country automatically making 2 corporations. For some reason wh

I do not see new schools here.
I see a reduction in the number of schools.

You need a number of teachers for each school.
if the country does not have enough teachers it will have to close schools.
This is what happened here.

you need more teachers.
higher education priorities for teachers to eliminate the shortage.

check the education page to see how many teachers are needed.

Andy,
Maybe I'm dense but in May schools were reduced from 5951 to 5917 then in June schools were reduced from 5967 to 5932. So between the reports the country added 50 schools then reduced the number by 35. A net gain from the month before of 15 schools. I didn't order schools and I made sure there were none in the trade cue.

I know I need more teachers, etc. I was trying to avoid this situation by not starting new schools. I was able to trade for teachers, something that we usually have too many of. I traded another player for some. I also did try to set "higher ed priorities for teachers, but it kept reducing my number back to 15 from 20.

The main point is that the automatic system is still ordering both schools and hospitals in my country despite turning off the system. If there is a "fail safe" trigger, then it is screwing up my careful considerations. I would not have been in this situation of having a sho

I understand now what you are saying.
It is proving me wrong about complete elimination of such interventions.

I already said before, we need examples where it goes wrong. this is one.

I found another case that triggers interventions and eliminated it.

It will be part of the next update, planned for Wednesday Feb. 9 but I might add a small update before.

I am sorry about it.

Thanks for your comments.
