W3C - Game Extention - Proposal

Far away from the current five planets, a new, tiny planet was discovered. It is now called Tiny Maori.

The planet is deserted for many years. There are no inhabitants.

There are several hundreds countries, no people, no corporations, nothing.
The only one item in each country is a Space Center.

The planet has 3 natural resources, rare metals, that are not available on the current planets. Countries have only one of the three resources but there are no corporations that can produce these rare metals from the available resources.

Initially, these three rare metals will be used for the production of several types of ammunition.
One is a very powerful attack missile, another is an extremely effective defence missile.
Production will probably take place on one of the current worlds.

These ammunitions with the associated weapons will be very useful in war.

Why do you call it a proposal?

It is not written in stone.
we want to hear from players.

it is an idea.
it is not very difficult to do.
Players were looking for something new.
I had things in mind in the general direction but not worked out into many details.

So it was written today and put here as a possibility, an idea, or a proposal.

Good idea I like it. 1 question why the name Tiny Maori? Haha As a Maori myself I'm intrigued

Maori is used as a name in astronomy.

I hope it is not offensive in any way.
The name is also a suggestion.
Any ideas are welcome.

I sat down last night and wrote an entire suggestion. I'll post it later for your consideration.

Our reactions depend mainly on:

1. Is the suggested feature a major addition to Simcountry and will make it much more enjoyable.
2. How much work is required.

The suggestion we have made is in all details within the current scope of capabilities.
As a result, it does not require many months of development efforts.

Any suggestion that is outside the scope, will fall dead if it requires a major development effort.

We have MANY fantastic ideas that are unfortunately waiting for resources.

I love this idea! This sounds like something that would be really fun for an enterprise oriented player like me.

I think this is also a very good and fresh idea.

I'd totally be behind this idea.

I will soon create a work plan for the developers.
it will result in more details and I will place here an update of the plan.

we will also get a better idea on the changes that are needed to make this possible.

If space fighter are to be implemented, it will require an extension to the war game.

Many parts of Simcountry are table driven and extensions not always require substantial additions of code.

We are doing more design and preparation work and think that the extension can be realized quite quickly.
The space fighters and possible war features may wait for a second phase and realized if there is sufficient interest.

we think that the new world might have some more countries, but will remain very small.

we will probably have only 100 to 200 countries with a space center which means that only these countries can land cargo shuttles and able to receive delivery of materials.

A player could purchase or conquer another country, move materials and people to that country and later build a space center or anything else.

we will add a space station or more than one, close to and somewhere between the current planets and the new one, to allow for storage of maintenance units for the cargo shuttles to make the long trips and possible other materials players may want to store closer to the new planet.

Looking forward to the published documents, this sounds like a great idea, but not easily accomplished. I'm hopeful that this will stimulate presidents to work with each other in order to gain a lasting alliance in a new world.

Might not be a bad time to invest in the space industry.

This raises a question why same principles could not be applied across all the worlds, it should not be difficult to make some products limited per certain world.
