We will introduce Targo as a new natural resource into Simcountry

Targon is a rare metal that is used to enhance electronic products.

The next discovery round for raw materials will add Targon in all countries on Tiny Atlas.
Players will be able to set up a mining corporation and produce Targon.

Tiny Atlas will remain the only world where Targon can be produced.

Once the metal is produced, it will be possible to transport it to any country you own and use is in the production of new enhanced products that will be added to Simcountry.

At the smae time, we have announced that some of the existing weapons in Simcountry will be retired. The preliminary list includes all Jeeps and Land to Sea batteries and missiles. More will follow.

Short term we intend to add Targon defense batteries and targon missiles.
These weapons will be able to intercept any missile in simcountry with 100% accuracy.
The only weapons that will be able to attack Targon batteries will be tactical nuclear weapons and chemical weapons.
However, targon missiles, if available, will be able, under most conditions, to destroy these incoming missiles and defend themselves.

Most conditions, because massive attacks could overwhelm the defense by sheer numbers unless the defense is extremely dense too.

Targon weapons will have a short range and such batteries will have to become part of the defense setup of the country.
they will come at a high price because of the high price of Targon and it very limited availablility.
At least initially, Targon will not trade on the markets. Players will have to produce it on TA and bring it back to be used in these defensive products.

Rumor has it, that there are potentially more rare metals on TA and that both Targon and the other rare metals, will be integrated into more products in Simcountry.

In general, while it seems that some natural resources might be running out on the current 5 worlds, Tiny Atlas seems to have large quantities of natural respources that can potentially be dicovered.

with this advantage in mind. i'd ask if space fighters are still on the to-do list?

Space fighters are on the do list for a very long time.

Implementation means that we will have to introduce the war engine on our portal where the shuttles fly.
It has stopped up from doing it until now but when space becomes essential in more ways than now, we will complete the process.

Also the increasing numbers of shuttles that are flying all the time, will probably require us to split the space functions from the portal into a different server.

I love this suggestion of targon weapons and ammo :)
However, the one issue comes to mind.

How much will they be in terms of cost and production?
First thing I think of, is that if the weapons have 100% accuracy, what is to stop me from creating numerous cheap units and bleeding a player of more expensive weapons? I mass easily purchase cheap weapons and ammo with the intent of bleeding the enemy of their expensive ammo(which costs money, GC, and a lot of time).

I want a bigger space fighter than Josias.

SupeSoldier

these weapons will come at a high cost.
you will have to build them in your own countries as Targon will not be traded on the markets.

you will need to bring it back from TA yourself.

Johanas

You will of course, have the biggest space fighters.

Its not the size of the fighter, but the motion of the ocean

Sup, in conjunction with what Andy said. TA is NOT easy. Its kinda a pain in the arse.

I don't want to be pushy on this, but i do think that space fighters would be an appropriate addition, they can be used to prevent CEO to Planet deliveries, as well as restrict Targon, and Targon weapons tranports. It'd be kinda cool to have space cartels/pirates that can control or attack routs.

I mean back in the day, when I moved all those assets from WG to LU, during the NLUO/Hydra thing, if fighters had been available, it could have turned out different (I would've had a bunch of my own to fight back.) And maybe the GM wouldn't have had to change the weapons transfers out of space centers, to stop me from doing it again. It could be more a player police/pirate thing

Andy and Josias,

Let me try to re-explain this.

My assumption is that these new "Targon weapons" are defensive weapons. They will be responsible for destroying attacking enemy batteries and shooting down attacking missles

-----------------------------

For example, let say you both go to war.

Andy's army has these new weapons (batteries and missiles) which are expensive to make and ship from Tiny Atlas to White Giant.

Knowing they have 100% accuracy means they will always shoot down incoming missiles or destroy their target.
This means as a player I know they will always stop any missiles I send.

My question to the GM is, "What is to stop me as a player from using non-rare cheaper weapons to drain the ammo of my opponent"?

If I build an air force attack wing with "Drones, helis, bombers, and planes" then attack over and over with easy to obtain weapons/ammo I can force my enemy to use their very expensive ammo in vain.
Since the batteries will HAVE to defend against them, it could be possible for me to force an opponent to use these very rare, limited, and expensive weapons to defend against cheaper easy to access weapons/ammo.

Lets pretend a single missile Targon missile cost 19m(same base cost as a nuclear defense missile) and it is used to shoot down a single attack drone missile (which is 1.7m).

In that instance I would happily send hundreds of drones and missiles to certain doom, if it meant bleeding my enemy of their ammo supply. I can simply buy more drone missile on ANY planet, while my enemy has to play on tiny atlas, build cargo ships, produce the ammo, etc.

-----------------------------

Hopefully that better explains what I am trying to address.

Just set them up the same way you do counter attacks. Allow the president to arm them when he wants to. Or preset them to certain weapon systems,Nuclear land or sub Missiles, Strategic bomber, conventional missile.

yea, sup, i got your point

but after you run me out of ammo, then what happens? and what am i doing in the mean time? i would hope that this would not be the end all be all of defensive weapons. just an extra layer of defense to give me time while i work a 12 hour shift in a foundry, to come home and have a chance to shoot back.

we'll need to see how much this Targon is going to cost to produce before we can make any assumptions about cost effectiveness.

I dont like the idea of this. Defense weapons already powerful enough. We need more offense weapons

I propose having Targon ICBM but comes at a high price and requires a lot of high tech services and electronic components to be made.
Targon ICBMs should be the first unlimited range weapon introduced to the game and can be launched by only land based or by submarine fleet

Very strong arguments.

I think that the usability will depend on the cost of the weapons and the cost of the ammo/operation that could be much lower.

we are now in the process of desighning the targon ammo.
it could be a traditional missile with very high acuracy or the other extreme, a laser weapon with a much lower cost to maintain and low cost firing cost.

The targon weapons cost can be very high.
if the cost of firing them is low, then the poissibily of running them out of ammo becomes more difficult.

Adding a Targon ICBM as an offensive weapon is a possibility but havinbg a weapon with 100% chance to destroy a target is not a good option.

Welcome back,
I agree that nothing in war should be 100%. There should always be hope even at a very low percentage. Looking forward to seeing what your crew comes up with.

I was out of the country for several days.
very busy.

The Targon weapons can be destroyed.
They will be defended effectively but very heavy attacks might have a chance.

I am not asking for the targon ICBM to have 100% accuracy, i am saying it should be the first weapon that could reach all corners of the planet introduced to the game but with a high production cost

Hi Andy,

I have a suggestion that I believe could add an exciting new dynamic to the game.

I was wondering if it would be possible to introduce Targon ICBMs with a high hit rate, but with a delayed attack feature. My idea is that once a Targon ICBM is launched, there would be a one-hour countdown before the missile strikes its target. During this time, a notification should be sent to all presidents, informing them of the impending ICBM launch.

To add more strategy and suspense, I was thinking that presidents could have the option to pay a price and reveal the target country and city of the launched ICBM. This would allow for some interesting decision-making and diplomatic maneuvering as players assess the potential threats and alliances.

Additionally, it would be fantastic to have defensive Targon batteries that could intercept the incoming ICBMs. These defensive batteries could have a 50% chance of successfully intercepting the missile, adding another layer of strategic planning and risk assessment for presidents.

I believe these changes could make the game even more engaging and dynamic, as well as fostering a sense of tension and cooperation among players. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this idea and whether it could be implemented.

Andy
A few questions.
1) Targon will only be found on Atlas.

2) Targon will need to be mined, Will there be a level requirement to build the factory?

3) Once mined there will need to be a factory that converts Targon into a weapon. Or will it be added as a new material to an existing factory such as a conventional missile factory. Will the level requirement remain?

4) Will all countries on Atlas have access to Targon?

5) Now the subject no one is talking about. WAR ON ATLAS. What war rules will Atlas be subjected to. Fearless Blue or the other worlds. Perhaps its own rules of engagement.

Amalie, JOEL
we will look into the ICBM idea.
will get back to it when we start introducing Targon based weapons.

Rob,
Good questions.

1. Targon will be a natural resource on Tiny Atlas only.
2. Once it is discovered in countries on TA, you will be able to start corporations to mine it.
These corporations will need many workers and many high level professionals. You need all before the corporation can be built.
3. It will be used in several new weapons, not in existing ones.
adding to an existing one will cause them to stop production as Targon will be hard to get. you need to bring it youself frem TA.
4. Targon will be dicovered in all countries on TA.
5. The war rules are the same as on KB,WG,GR and LU.

We have just completed the first Targon weapon.
We have no action on record yet and hope it all functions exactly as adverized.

A little too early to move to the next.

we plan to introduce some advantages of Targon in another product or more.

I think that the ICBM idea is good and a bit complex.

We will publish some plans for Targon and additional special metals coming from Tiny Atlas in the coming weeks and the ICBM will be discussed in more details.
