Targon

Targon is added as a new natural resource to Simcountry.
Currently there is no Targon in any of the worlds.
In the coming days, a discovery round on Tiny Atlas, will discover Targon in many countries and it will become possible to build Targon mining corporations.
These corporations are large and require many workers at all levels, including very high level managers and high tech workers.

Carbon is available in very small quantities. It will be mined on Tiny Atlas only. We expect new industries, using Targon to start in countries in all worlds but it will be more difficult to build such industries on Tiny Atlas because of lack of other resources and lack of workers.

Moving workerkers between professions

The max number that can be moved between workers groups is increased from 200.000 to 300.000.
In addition, we expect the number of high level workers to increase a bit and reduce the need for frequent conversions.

Product Shortages

We already see some change and think the product shortages will be reduced a bit.

Building New Corporations

When building new corporations, workers that are needed to work in these corporations should be available.
Until now, it was possible to build even if available worker numbers were far too low. It made it possible to build too many corporations that were producing at low levels and made losses.

Population Numbers

Population numbers in countries now depend more on the education index, the health index but also on the welfare and supply indexes.
Population numbers can decline quickly if these indexes are at very low levels. Health and education at a level of 60 will result in many people leaving your country.

The welfare index has now a larger range. It is changing a bit faster than before and can go a bit lower than before. It is also a major factor in keeping the population in the country.

Effects are small except for countries where the indexes are extremely low.

Selling Enterprises

An error prevented the sale of an enterprise if the buying country already had two enterprises. The max per country is four enterprises. The error is now fixed.

Phasing out some weapons

As we explained before, we are in the process of phasing out defensive jeeps, offensive jeeps and land to sea missiles and batteries.
These weapons are not used in any units any more, production numbers diminished and they will disappear in the coming weeks.

We will publish how this will be done.
The functionality of the weapons is replaced by added functionality to tanks and artillery and more capabilities were added to land based cruise missiles.

Intervention functions for new players

We had several rounds of reductions in such functions and we have reduced the number of interventions. We have now revisited these interventions and reduced them much more.

If youy turn all beginners help functions off in the game settings, there will be no interventions.
If you do ask for some help functions, these will remain active as long as your country did not reach game level 4.

We have added the level 4 limitation to virtually all beginner support functions in Simcountry.

Along the lines of "Moving workerkers between professions"

Exchange not processed.
Not enough unemployed workers in one of the professions, or
one of the countries exchanged more than 200,000 persons already.
Please try again next month.

This is when I try to exchange workers between 2 12M+ countries on TA. Between "Number 26" and my slave "Monca." And I have NOT used a booster for a while.

Andy,

Thank you for taking the time to update us.

"In addition, we expect the number of high level workers to increase a bit and reduce the need for frequent conversions."

What exactly was changed?

Since the update, I've been having problems with severe shortages of high level workers, while all other professions and worker types are abundant. This is driving unemployment to extreme levels.

The Country Andy on LU is a clear example of the problem. 13,808,740 unemployed, plenty of jobs open, not enough High Level Workers to enable people to get jobs.

I've had to do manual conversions of proffesionals to high level workers, which I never had to do before. On my nation of DanNation on LU.

"The welfare index has now a larger range. It is changing a bit faster than before and can go a bit lower than before. It is also a major factor in keeping the population in the country."

How is the welfare index calculated? The Documentation is clearly outdated, but we don't know how it actually works.

When you "convert" professionals into workers, the max number now is 300.000 per game month. Up from 200.000.

It is not about exchanging workers with a different country.
That function is unchanged.

In some cases, the imbalance is extreme and some of these conversions are done automatically.
however, never more than 200.000 and there are always remaining 100.000 for manual conversions.

this too is unchanged.

The increase in the number of high level workers is structural.
A larger percentage of new workers each month is high level workers.
It is accumulating and in time, will eliviate some shortages.

conversions might be needed but fewer and with up to 300.000 per game month.

we have explained in the past that the wellfare index depends on the values of many indexes, including supply, health, edication, social services.
(everything that has to do with the welfare of the population).

it is NOT an avergae.
it depends on the lowest values of these indexes.
it means that if the health index is very low, and education is extremely high, welfare will go very low and good education will not fix it.

It is protected from going too low.
someone can close all hospitals and the wellfare index will go very low but will not decline to zero.

The welfare index is in fact dependent on the lowest values of indexes in the country but it is protected from going too far down.
a very low (too low) welfare index can destroy the entire economy of a country and it is hard to fix.

we are advising players to keep essential indexes at a level of 100 or higher.

Andy,

Thank you for your reply.

I don't think the High Level Worker changes are working as intended.

Look at the country 'Andy' on LU. The number of high level workers is dropping every month, even though the total number of workers in the country is rising.

I'm witnessing the same thing in my own country, and having to do large manual conversions, that I didn't need to do before this change.

Clearly High Level Workers aren't being created quickly enough. Or something else is going wrong.

Yes.
the third little update.
We said several weeks ago that as jeeps will be phased out, tanks and artilery will become a bit more powerful.

Cargo shuttles flights use more shuttle missions and more shuttle maintenance units when on very long missions.
only the missions to Tiny Atlas are considered very long.
you can seel the numbers on the shuttle log.

don't run out of shuttle maintenance units or shuttles will become older quickly.
make sure you have shuttle maintenance uits in you space centers.

shuttles load them automatically if the units are available at the smace centers.

Daniel,

We have shortages of high level workers for a long time.
we have made several corrations.

now we did another one and it takesa some time to kick in.

we have increased the percentage of high level workers in the mix of new workers added each month as young people join the labor market.

now, each game month, the number will increase a bit.
it will take some time before the number of high level workers in all age groups will increase.

We hope that shortages will be reduced.
we need to be careful and not overshoot.

is there are too many, there is no way to reduce the numbers.

Andy,

That's true, it's good to be careful not to overshoot. However, currently we are drastically undershooting, and countries are suffering a lot of unemployment because of it.

Perhaps increasing the rate at which Low Level Workers, and Medium Level Workers, can promote to Medium Level Workers and High Level Workers, would allow the surplus unemployed Low Level Workers to fix the High Level Worker shortages?

Hey Andy I know you guys already increased the amount of workers that can be moved into a new profession from 200k to 300k however some us have large countries and thats not enough to move month by month.

My country has collapsed because of the shortages and 100% of my corps unable to produce anything....

I agree with JOEL

300,000 people for countries over 100m is not feasible.
I would like the GM to consider moving it to 400,000 monthly to match worker trades.
Then also add a booster which allows 400,000 more for 1 GC (only last 1 game month).

Bigger nations can use some GC to move around larger worker numbers.
In one country I need 6,000,000 HLW... Trying to move 300,000 per month is doing NOTHING

SuperSoldierRCP, and JOEL, are correct. The limit of 300,000 manual demotions per game month is far too small for large countries.

It may seem like a lot, but most people aren't able to login multiple times every day. For example, if someone only has time to login and manually demote professionals once every two real life days, then that's only 300,000 demotions per game year, which will not fix the massive shortages these countries are facing.

However, the much more important problem is that the game depends on players manually demoting professionals to High Level Workers. This is completely unsustainable. High Level Workers requirements need to be able to be satisfied by the automatic promotion of Low Level Workers, and Medium Level Workers. Manual demotions by players should be something that's only necessary in cases of extreme overeducation, not something that needs to be done regularly just to keep the country functioning.

Hey Andy,

There's some really insightful suggestions in this thread about automating and optimizing worker movement. It's great to see the community brainstorming ways to enhance gameplay. Personally, I believe that removing the limit on demoting workers in the game would be a positive step forward. It could offer players more flexibility and strategic options.

Speaking of the game, I've noticed you've been a bit absent lately. Given the recent disruption caused by the game update, it would be really helpful if we could get your input on how to navigate through these changes.

The limit of 300.000 has reduced the number of interventions.

In addition, we have made a structural (small) change that will increase the percentage of high level workers.
that change will take longer to materialize because the change is in the incoming young groups of workersa and it takes time before they move to all age groups.

we will keep looking into it and if needed, will increase the number to 400.000

you should realize that if we have too many high level workers, there is no machanism to reduce the numbers.
